Not quite the same thing - you didn't need to go through hell before even starting it, don't do it in Brecon (Dartmoor is nothing next to the terrain there) and could use a bit more than a map, compass and a few strings of numbers that someone in charge gave you. Before you even get to try the LD, you need to make a 35km hike with a similarly loaded bergen and rifle using a map you drew before going in.

With all respect to your experience, Brighteye is correct. In fact the Brecon Beacons are a stroll in the park compared to Dartmoor. And the Peak District. And the Pennine Way all the way from Bakewell to Scotland. I've done all three. If you've done any of Dartmoor maybe it was the pretty part south of the road. Not the northern part where all the Tors are.
In Brecon, the weather's unpredictable, and it rains and howls five minutes after what looked to be a nice, warm day. I go to Dartmoor a lot with the Ten Tors lot to practise, and I find it easier - in truth though, that's probably because the stuff I did in Brecon was unde far more difficult circumstances.
