Fantasy Nes

"All arise to greet the great Queen Genneka Rueben VI," spoke Head Mage Archimolea. Since his recruiting into the Auranian Army as a Necromancer, he had risen the ranks with his incredible prowess in the Dark Arts.

The queen, tall and incredibly cutesy-looking [despite her incredible leading abilities, she appeared to be nothing more than a blonde, freckled teenage girl who loved to wear pink hoopskirts], entered the chambers of the Magery Hall. The mages of Aurania, with the exception of the five Chaosmancers who, as everyone knew, were generally eccentric and acted as they pleased, stood to attention and greeted her most amicably.

The queen sat down on the highest of the chairs, sitting far above the mages. She spoke, "I've gathered you here today to discuss the probability of summoning a Wind Demon to our defenses."

Murmurs quickly started up in the mage ranks. She continued, "Wind Demons are not the same as the randomly-destructive fire and earth demons you so often read about. Wind Demons, alongside the Ice Demons, are incredibly intelligent, calm, and rational. If it IS randomly destructive, for some strange reason, you may send it back far faster than you can summon it, anyway."

"Yes, yes. That sounds all well and good, Queen," said Archimolea. A fierce, cruel grin spread across his wrinkled face. "I have heard that you are in the process of searching for a suitor, my dear Queen."

A blush crossed Genneka's pale, freckled face like a wildfire across a dry forest. With a low growl in her light voice, she responded, "That is none of your business, Archimolea." She coughed, glaring at the seemingly-feeble Necromancer. She averted her eyes to a more attractive-looking Fire Mage before continuing, "Also, we shall be recruiting new mages to the military..."

And the meeting continued to discuss the normal, boring things they usually did.

AuraniaSettlements.JPG

I whipped up this little piccie of settlements in Aurania. The largest round dot is the capital, Aurania City. It's just to give an idea of what large, permanent settlements are inside the territory. ^^

EDIT: Okay, that's supposed to say "Harfle Village". That's pronounced, "Har-fleh".

I'm posting a map too, with some new terrain that the scouts have reported back!
The Expand East order still stands, but...
wesseriamap1.png

The river flows out of a magical forest, there are some mountains with a THING in the middle, and there is a magical well to the west.

Map isn't possible to see, Erik. ;)

Orders from the Blue Wesserian Kingdom
Expand towards the mana spring
Recruit 10 Wind Mages and 5 Death Mages
Continue the Infinity Corridor wonder.

Story being added:
Erik sat in his throneroom and pondered the map of the known world.:crazyeye:
knownworld.png

It was not exactly a quieting sight. He knew of one country that might contest him for the magical spring that his scouts had seen in the West, another country in the west, and there were rumors that another powerful civilization was arising in the southeast.
He arose and called for the court of mages. <OOC: I'm acting as though "1 mage" in the stats means "99 in the army and 1 at court".> Soon the room was filled with bustle and the faint tang of magic.
"My Vers" he addressed them, (Ver being the polite form of Lord when referring to mages) I would hear new of our enterprises? What progress on the opening of the Corridor?
A middle-aged geomancer by name of Relkin stood forth. "Your majesty:king: , I am happy to report that the portal element is nearly complete, and we expect to add the bindings within a few months. It will definitely be complete within the year.":goodjob:
There were a few smiles, nudges and mutters passed among the mages as Relkin boldly announced success.
"Majesty, if I might bring your attention to another matter: the mountains in the east. The Diviners are making little progress at seeing what lurks there."
He was cut off by an enourmous thunderclap which resounded through the throne room. "An unannounced teleportation is arriving!" cried a conveyance mage loudly, grabbing a nearby fellow mage and getting him to amplify his words. "CLEAR THE ROOM, CLEAR THE ROOM, A TELEPORTATION IS MANIFESTING HERE!"
They scattered in all directions. After a few seconds a globe of pink light appeared- the final warning before the arrival. From the size, they judged that a small amount of people were arriving.
Thank goodness for small mercies.
Suddenly the light coalesced into two vaguely man-shaped figures. The one started moving -it is always dangerous to move while undergoing a teleportation- and suddenly collapsed. The light diminished, and the two figures were visible as a woman clad in tattered robes marking her for a Conveyance sorceress of the highest order, and what amounted to a savaged corpse on the floor. Some vomited at the sight.
"That's Linya! She was with one of the colony parties!" yelled someone."
"Blast :rocket2: that corpse! It's an animate if I ever saw one!" interrupted a necromancer.
Two wind mages fired simultaneously, knocking their target heels over head into the ceiling. "Let me!" said a water mage, firing water from his palm and placing a band of ice around the corpse, which was now struggling against the magic holding it.
"Thank you- thank you-" gasped Linya. "I must tell you- our colony failed- we were slaughtered. The natives cut down our people without mercy and behind them came many death mages, all raising the skeleton to kill those who remained. I was able to 'back-snap' the last of the teleporting energies and recall myself-" she collapsed on the dais around the throne, and the confusion in the throng rapidly deteriorated into panic, until Erik was able to summon some servants to carry her to the infirmary.
She began to awake four days later. "So dry... so hot... sun in our eyes as the skeletons came..." Soon a few divination mages and a healer were gathered around her bedside. With some coercion, they managed to find out that the place she had been lay some distance to the west, since the sun had been rising and not yet up. It was also most likely to the south, judging by her tale of a bone-dry desert.
"They... mages... wore badges. With a rune." She traced it in the air as a set of glowing green lines. She paused a moment to reinforce her memory with a deep draught of the bedside decanter, then continued.
"Literally S Fire Doer," said one.
"Firer, not Fire Doer" said another.
"Sfirer" said the third.
"So they were an organized army," said the second, "and still they wreaked slaughter upon our people, who would not have settled in the lands of another, but began a peaceful trade?"
"This cannot be borne!" cried the first, and soon the court was assembled again.

"My Vers," said King Erik, as a week ago, "we face a grave situation. A country has in effecio declared war upon us, slaying hundreds of our people." He paused for effect as the words sank in. "We must therefore answer them with like. I call the council to suggest our reply, to visit a slaughter upon them like as what they visited upon us. First I will propose my own suggestion: Summon a horde of howling flying demons to visit them."
"Wouldn't work, majesty. They take far too long time to summon, and are uncontrollable."
"Do we know where they are?" piped up a young Fire mage. "I have a great idea!"
"I believe we do. Our diviners have ascertained the approximate location of the teleport, and it is likely to be within the nation in the southwest." <Rest of story in PM to Gladinia>

OOC: Many thanks to Erik Mesoy for PMing me.

The Feoures Mountains were dark and foreboding, forever covered in a mysterious mist. The air was as cold as ice and the ground even colder than that, yet not a single thing froze...not even the highest points of the mountains, which bore no snow.

It was a wasteland, to say the least. Too cold for civilized peoples to survive, too resourceless for civilized peoples to CARE, and too dark for civilized peoples to even approach.

Archimolea loved the place, however. It was a place he could never get enough of. The natives were barbarous, yes, but they weren't his reason for enjoying the locale. It was the monstrous temple that stood in its very center, surrounded by a thin veil of impenetrable energy which allowed nothing in save light.

He ran one of his elderly-looking hands, almost skeletal with skin, along the barely-visible barrier. "Every day, I come closer to discovering the secret of what lies within this place," spoke Archimolea to no one in particular. He continued, "And how I might get into this temple, as well."

Several men approached him from behind. They were enormous themselves, built incredibly muscular and carrying axes that were almost as big as they were. Brigands...

"Lord Archimolea?" one of them said. The old necromancer turned to the group of barbarians. They knew magic, of course -- but they channeled it through their weapons instead of just creating the spells in thin air. "We've prepared the Cavaliers...we'll be attacking the Auranian border soon."

A wicked smile crossed Archimolea's face. "Good, good. Remember to make it seem serious. This isn't meant to be a major assault. LET them win."

"Yes, my lord."

"My plan is coming together. For your parts, I'll make certain to give you and yours get repayed...exceptionally well." Archimolea turned again to the temple.

"Thank you, Lord Archimolea." The brigands then left, ready to begin their false-assault on the closest border of the river-country of Aurania.

"Yes, my plan is coming together quite well...let them shift their defensive efforts to the southwest...hehehe."

1) Continue expansion to the edge of the Haunted Forests.

2) After the "barbarian" assault, set up defensive fortifications along the southwestern border.

3) Continue Summons.

OOC: Gladinia: yes, make it Hellfire ;)

Orders:
Start Summoning (undeads)
Recruit: 5 Earth, 10 Water-Wind

Amon: Warning: Barbarian galleys might attack you soon, seeing as you are alone and on an island.

Please, don't have a hissy fit over my isolationist attitude...I might not want to kick alot of ass yet.

It was all dark in the evil and chaotic lands.

The great desert, the only hot but dark desert in the world. The place where the undead come from, the place from where the Lord is calling his armies to come from.

In thise deserts only death and chaos priests survive, because the air stinks and kill only by taking a breath. It's the dead lands as they called outside of the country. Everything that enters neither die or turn to an undead wariar by the hiding mages.

In this lands a wandering group of 500 people walked, their noses shut by clothes. They came from a teleport move right near the black palace. A palace made of a mountain. The dark lord sent several death mages to turn them into his slaves, dead wariar slaves.

In the darkness the priests came into their tents, entered one and turned everyone in to skeleots, zombies and others, and again and again until the whole group was turned.

"Good mages. You have done right, now we preaper to invade the white lands!"

The dark desert was a huge plains area hot like hell but dark like the night. All of it was surounded by the highest mountain range in the world. And in the middle of the desert the highest mountain. It was a silenced volcano that after darkness came around it, stopped working. From inside the mountains suddenly tunles showed up. Since than no living creature came alive. From Goblins and halflings to Dragons and living giants. The last creature to succeed runing away was a spider, but it was so polluted and diseased that it's first "son" became a giant un-dead Spider that settled in the northern part of the Dark gates mountains. It breeds there and already a familiy lives there, they are under no-ones control.

Only place that has no darkness in it in the dark deserts it's the great mountain palace. It's head it's the only place the lord did not succeded in taking. A mysterius mage lives there, he is not white, or good, or bad, but he don't want to be under anyones control.
The lord than left the mage alone and went to conquer the desert, everywhere he reached became dark, but stayed very warm. He took lands until reaching the mountains. In there he built 3 gates, to the North West and South, the only places you can enter dark deserts.

Not long ago the dark lord begun to command the creation of the summoning pit, from wich anything that dies could be returned from the dead world. From halfling zombis to mighty black dragons could be drawned from there, only think the Lord need to do, is to sacrifise. The best thing to sacrifise is Humans, than good thigs and last evil things.

White the pit is being built the great lord commanded all his chaos and death wizards, including new recruited ones to summon an army. an undead-chaotic monsters army, as he knew war is coming.

But from all the country the most important area is the great mountain. From within the lord came with his undead elite wariars and recruited undead qizards. Inside the mountain the great Palace is still being built. From the higest part the Lord reached befor being beaten by the Mysterius mage to deep down, almost reachign the deads world, where the Lord say he came from. The Palace has only 1 gate to the outside the world. Pointing to the sea stand the huge statue in the image of the lord himself, and this statue stand just befor the entrance. Only other ways in are the digging holes that remained open by the peace treaty with the mysterius wizards. They are gaurded by the lord spirits.
