7-4 may not sound that great, but if you look at the NFC East, South and West Conferences, 7-4 is the best record. So in 3/8 of the conferences we'd be at least tied for first. In the rest of the conferences, the best record is 10-1. Even though it's only a 16 week season, it's still a pretty close race.
