Favorite Bob Dylan song?

"Like A Rolling Stone", great song.

Tangled up in blue and Hendrix' cover of All along the Watchtower.

Question: Was this man the greatest poet of the 20th century? Or at least the greateatest American poet?

It's on EVERY one of their Live albums. I would recommend listen to either Live @ Red Rocks or Live in Chicago.

Tangled up in Blue
Simple Twist of Fate
Idiot Wind
- And that's just off Blood on the Tracks
I also like Mississippi off his latest album

Desolation Row.

I dabble with others but always come back to that.

I don't have a favorite song so much as an album. Dylan did the soundtrack for the 1970s film Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett, and that has to be one of the most understated but best soundtracks I've heard.

Updated: My favorite Bob Dylan songs as of 12/9/02

1) Like A Rolling Stone
2) It's Alright Ma
3) Visions of Johanna
4) Every Grain of Sand
5) Ring Them Bells
6) Not Dark Yet

My favorite remains Mr. Tambourine Man.

Growing up in the bronx, I related really well to Subterranean Homesick Blues. It had pithy lines as:

"You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind Blows"

"After 20 years of schooling and they put you on the day shift."

"The pumps don't work cause the vandals took the handles".

Honorable mention goes to a "Slow Train Coming", "Serve Somebody" and "Winterlude".

Hurricane
Like a Rolling Stone
Blowin' In the Wind
All Along the Watchtower
The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll

okay I think I've revived enough dead threads for an eternity

Early one mornin' the sun was shinin',
I was layin' in bed
Wond'rin' if she'd changed at all
If her hair was still red.
Her folks they said our lives together
Sure was gonna be rough
They never did like Mama's homemade dress
Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough.
And I was standin' on the side of the road
Rain fallin' on my shoes
Heading out for the East Coast
Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through,
Tangled up in blue.

Desolation Row, Tangled up in blue, All along the watch tower, Tombstone blues, Visions of Johanna, Like a Rolling Stone, Ballad of a thin man, Dignity... I have about 10 favourite Dylan songs!

It's a tough question, but I'd say my current favorite is "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands."
