Favorite 'fast-food'?

I used to really love KFC as a child when the chicken was much greasier and not so dry. I still like it now but eating a bucket is not as appealing as a choice as it used to be.

I'm also a big fan of McDonald's but it makes me sick quickly. Wendy's fries are delicious.

The KFC bucket is too hard core for me. If you go to KFC and get some kind of (adjust for your locality) dinner box or family feast or other pack that is a combination of their stuff and you're kinda full but want a bit more, you can grab a chip or some corn or a little popcorn chicken or something.

With the bucket there is nowhere to hide. Want a bit more? Then it's yet another piece of greasy chicken. You can't wimp out on a spoonful of potato and gravy.

Another thing about KFC, I challenge anybody, using a combination of any number of pieces of their product to assemble them into something even vaguely resembling a chicken.

Döneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer! Döner is just fantastic. also, don't forget other Turkish fastfood Lahmacun.

KFC is still greasy overseas? Lucky. :(

In regards to the appearance of a chicken... Do the chicken legs and breasts you buy at the grocer resemble a chicken if you piece them together? They don't here. Why would fast food be any different?

Yes? I don't mean a live chicken I mean you can't piece together KFC pieces to look a whole, uncooked chicken that you would roast for instance.

Odd, the only thing that looks like an uncooked chicken around here is, well, an uncooked chicken. No amount of puzzle piecing will make the breasts, thighs and legs look like a chicken here.

The backs aren't served with the rest of the chicken because they're very bony with little meat, so reassembly is nigh impossible.
Wendy's fries are delicious.
Not since they changed the recipe. Occasionally I'll go to Wendy's for a burger and McDonald's for fries, because Wendy's fries suck so much. But all the Wendy's near me habitually screw up my orders, so I tend to avoid them altogether.

See, it's the opposite for me in regards to Wendy's. Their burgers just taste like butter to me, and I just go for the fries.

I was a huge fan of Chik-Fil-A in undergrad, but they don't have many shops in Boston. So I've been going without.

As far as burger places go, Mr. Bartley's doesn't quite count as fast-food since it's more of a sit-down burger restaurant, but Four Burgers is pretty good and closeby. I guess Five Guys is all right.

No In N Out's up in the Northeast, I've never been to one since I don't get out West all that often.

Pizza.

Also good are souvlakis/kebabs/whatever you want to call them, so long as the meat is lamb. Other meats are objectively inferior in these sorts of foods.

McDonalds and Hungry Jacks are decent for your 90 second burger. Obviously they pale in comparison to a burger that is actually cooked after you order, but they get the job done.

KFC is awful, but sometimes you just want disgustingly greasy fried chicken-like substance. (normally only when i hate myself more than usual for some reason)

On rare occasions, Mexican food is ok, but I've yet to find somewhere that really does it justice when in fast food form.

I've also considered buying food from the various Asian fast food outlets, but i typically find myself unable to reach the required level of trust to purchase food from them. Particularly when I've seen mice running in and out from beneath one of the shops in the food court i typically eat lunch in.

He's from Canada#2 though.

I think I am disturbed that you know this. j/k

I have a decent excuse, since I've cut up and fried chicken myself. Of course, I only did that because I suck at reading labels, so maybe it's not a great excuse. But I do fry it up pretty well if I may say so.

Oh man, I googled that In n Out place and it looks amazing. So I was heart broken to see that I was six months too late for this.

Yeah, they've done the same thing in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore. I don't know if they're planning an international expansion, just trying to build their brand name, or trying to gauge public reaction but as fast food goes it is as good as it gets. Everything is fresh and never frozen, made to order, the bread is baked that morning, the cow was killed and ground up that morning then delivered fresh into the restaurant, the shakes are made with real ice cream, and the owners even believe in giving the employees a living wage with health insurance. That last part is almost unheard of in the US, I mean they're starting people out at US$12 per hour when the other fast food places only give their employees $7.25 plus after 1 year they get health insurance as well as a partial refund on any college tuition costs (thus lots of college kids work there).

Yet their final prices to customers are practically the same as the other fast food places charge even though their quality is vastly superior and they treat their employees so much better. It's a family owned business which never takes on any debt and instead funds all expansions with cash on hand, no franchises are allowed because the owning family doesn't believe franchises would be as dedicated to quality or fair treatment of employees, and the guy who was CEO for 40 years kept his personal salary at just $100,000 per year for 40 years (while other CEOs get tens of millions a year) because he thought that was a good enough salary which allowed him to care for his family and because he thought it would be unfair for him to pay himself so much more than the regular employees. In 'N Out is one of the only fast food places I'm proud to say I go to.
