Favorite Sci-Fi Show

Firefly. (See my quote from the upcoming Firefly movie, Serenity, and accompanying link and date of release.)

Currently on air: Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica are all great television.

The Stargates and Battlestar Galactica.

I hate living in Britain :(

Is Stargate Atlantis any good? ie worth watching?

Stargate, though I'm more a fan of the early seasons. Atlantis has a lot of the early SG-1 feel, where they're still exploring new planets and don't know what's going on on a galactic scale, but the villains are far, far inferior.

SG1 started to go down the tubes when Anubis became the main bad guy, imo. He didn't have the vanity that made the Goa'uld so amusing.

Stargate Atlantis is good. Not as good as SG-1, but good enough that I tune in every week.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Cowboy Bebop. So sue me if they are anime, there Sci-Fi in my book :p.

What is your favorite science fiction show on Television cancelled or still on the air?

TV SF is crap these days. I'm not impressed one bit by any of it.

Back in the day, I was enamored by the OLD Star Trek, even by which time it was already in re-runs. When I saw the NG (and spin-offs), it was a pale comparison with mostly PC threads.

TV SF that's on nowadays doesn't deal with the interesting issues that SF was originally meant to deal with, such as the consequences of certain political, social, or economic conditions taken to their "natural" conclusions. Instead, it's just a bunch of fluff mixed in with snazzy sci-fi gadgets.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.

Everyone is so fixated on special effects, the story goes out the window.

I've tried watching shows like Stargate and Andromeda, and lose interest after about 15 minutes. There is an enormous level of cliché there, far beyond what one might expect for suspending disbelief.

Actually, there is one show on that is technically sci-fi that I like. It's called "Tripping the Rift." It's actually an animated sci-fi comedy.
