I have never played a game with a soundtrack. But for nice PC speaker sounds, Pool of Radience.

Nothing quite like the high-frequency wail produced the arrows in that game! I would always curse myself when I would play that game and forget to turn the sound off before shooting arrows at someone.

The music in the Ragna Rock nightclub in Max Payne stick in my memory.

But tropico is best, I actually listen to some of that stuff normallly...

Oooh Benderino reminded me of the classic music from The Legend of Zelda on the NES. Though it isn't a soundtrack, the score remains in my memory for life.. which is rather sad.

There was this game called Burn -Cycle out in '94 or so that had the best soundtrack of all.

FF VII(Playstation) and Herzog Zwei(Genesis) as well as the shareware game One Must Fall 2097(PC circa 1994) are runner ups in my book.

Every time this subject comes up I have to plug this site which has a plethora of remixed video game songs.....

For those who like C&C music, I think two guys from C&C created an industrial band called Voice Industrie... (just one of those things I heard on the radio a long time ago......)

Not to mention the zap of magic missiles and fireballs, and the cute death blasts.

Ascendancy had the best and most atmospheric music but I still love the way the music in TA changes when a battle starts.

Best soundtrack ever; Xenon 2 Megablast by Bomb the Bass(?). Used as the theme for Assault on Precinct 13(?).

It's sounds pretty awful on a PC, but on other systems it was just as good as the movie... maybe better.

The Bitmap Brothers may have had a formula for all their games - but it was a damn good formula for the time.

what about these (just to name a few - for the older ones among us):

- The Last Ninjy I+II (Awesome)
- Hybris (Amiga)
- R-Type (Amiga)
- Turrican (One of the best sountracks ever - get the CD-Version)
- International Karate (C-64)
- Giana Sisters (C-64)
- x-Out (Amiga)
- To Be On Top (C64)

... + pretty much everything composed by Chris Hülsbeck and Rob Hubbard

Rock 'N' Roll Racing for the Super NES. Born To Be Wild with the announcer doin the play by play... "Shredder looks lost out there!"

I know exactly what you're talking about ;)

Chrono Trigger has to be the best for me, because a large part of it is sampled from Pink Floyd's The Wall, most noticeable in the trial sequence and "Hey You" playing in the wierd ice-age part

After that, probably the Zelda theme, which is eternally stuck in my head (along with that Ocarina of Time flute music: doo do do DOO do do doo do doo do do do doo), any Star Wars game (duh) and most Final Fantasy games

The soundtracks from Medal of honor:Frontline!
I D/Led them and burned them onto a CD and listen to it quite often!
Ya cant beat the Beer song! ;)
