Fear of perfection.

Is it that immortality would be boring or boring people would find immortality boring?

I'm not sure if thats good. What if I really love my job but is taken from me because something else does it faster , better and cheaper?. I'm already feeling bad for the auto racing drivers of the future.

So continue doing it, nobody's going to stop you. You might not get paid for it, but..

Perfection embraces the singularity and the coming of our Giant Death Robot overlords.

I embrace you as well!

I cannot be the only person who found this exchange amazing. What are the chances!

That doesn't make sense. Sport is interesting due to imperfection, not perfection. We already could have computers drive the cars around in perfect circles.. where would the fun be in that?

It's not that immortality is 'that good', it's that death & suffering are 'that bad'. They're worthy of overcoming, just because of what they are. But, we also should be making a good world: this would be independent of whether we solve hunger, terror, violence, disease, and aging. But, I think that we're motivated to create a worthwhile life already.
Yeah, death & suffering suck, I second that. I don't think immortality is possible or that Kurzweil is the new Jesus but if we can extend lifespan, reduce suffering & increase knowledge that's a good thing.
