Feedback: Civics

Attached. I'm not certain, but I think it was from Pie's Ancient Europe.
Thanks! I haven't seen that before, will give PAE another look overall.

Every time I download a mod I go through its buttons and copy any interesting/quality ones I find into a folder. Realism Invictus is usually the first place I look (for anything).
Heh, seems like HR is my Realism Invictus in that case :D Although I also often go to RI.

Here is a suggestion for Mercenary civic effect that I saw in this mod and liked:

So basically Mercenary civic allows rushing military production with gold, even if it would not normally be allowed (but only military units, not buildings), and rushed military units are then considered mercenary units.

It seems like a nice mechanic, and AI should be able to use it as well as anything else.

What will probably turn out to be a problem for HR though, is that I needed to implement this ability in the DLL (both splitting the hurry ability into units and buildings, and giving promotions to hurried units only).

Heh, too bad... But maybe there is some chance of this happening.
BTW, is Dawn of Civilization playable on random maps, on RFC only? :)

Sure, it's Xyth's decision after all. Unfortunately DoC right now only works with the default world map. In the future I want to resurrect RFC RAND though, which let you play on random world maps too.

I really like DoC's implementation of Mercenaries but, as Leoreth says, it's only possible via the DLL and is thus impossible on Mac. I'm happy to add Windows-only features to HR if they can be done in a reasonably transparent fashion (i.e. not screwing up the Mac side) but that's unfortunately that's not the case with a civic.
