Feeding Scraps to Pets

I was always told by our vet that the reason my dog (best buddy RIP) lived so long was because we never fed him scraps, only good dog food. I mean a few times a year we would give him a piece of steak or something but it was a RARE treat.

So how about you? Do you feed table scraps/human food to your pets? Why or why not? Do you think it hurts their health?

I don't have pets, although I would imagine that giving a dog scraps would pack on the pounds...

When I lived in the USA with my parents, we'd feed the dog some meat every now and then, the cats got little goldfish snacks, but that's it.

My cat who is 18 years old and skinny as a rail, I figure if she eats anything it'll probably do her good.

My dog is my trash bin. Anything spoiled, unwanted or bought in a wrong time goes into dog.

Nope, according to my parents, If I feed the the table scraps, they'll eventually get up on the table and want whats on your plate.
