FFH - A Shadow Introduction

Making the terrain generally hostile to everyone would remove the 'just kill someone else and take over their forests' option. We could start on a crappy continent, but I much prefer Pangaea for FFH to increase the level of interaction and conflict between civs.

I'll deforest your map if you are looking for a volunteer. Roll up your game, settings, opponents, etc ... shoot it over to me (ruff_hi at yahoo dot com) and I'll get the pruning shears out.

I think I've figured out how to hack the map script. If people are in a hurry to start we can start on patch K, otherwise we'll wait for L (actually it seems L has been cancelled and replaced by M.)

Don't know if this is the right place for this question, but doesn't FFH lend itself more to be a multiplayer game than an SG? The AI is okay for regular civ, but for a game as modded as FFH, don't you need a human mind behind your opponents turns to make the game play as interesting/unique as it could?

That's why we play with variant rules, to try and make the game challenging and interesting :).

Never played an SG before and am interested in trying one, so FfH which is much easier than normal Civ4 should be a good way for me to wet my feet.

Any room for another player?

Whether or not I play, it looks like the yet-unreleased patch M mainly consists of civ-specific tweaks that don't affect the Ljosalfar. I vote against waiting for it.

I think everyone is keen to play the new game so unfortunately, I'd say probably not.

There has been quite a few people express some interest in joining, definately enough to start another game up (just need a brave soul to volunteer to run it :mischief: ). Can either be a different variant or play the terraforming challenge as well and we can compare games.

well I don't mind waiting for patch M if it's released decently soon, but we really have no idea - taking votes from the original team (also confirm that you're in please)

Me too. I'm fine with either waiting for the patch or not.

I think I'm going to offer up my seat to one of the lurkers. I know this may be considered heresy by some, but I think I prefer regular civ.

I've tried to keep an open mind while playing, but I just don't see what others do in this mod. The FFH team have certainly come up with some creative ideas and implemented some pretty spectacular features. My hat is off to them. But one of my pet peeves with civ4 is the increased micromanagement. And unfortunately, there is even more micromanagement required in FFH. On top of that, the AI just seems unusually inept in FFH. Maybe its my imagination, but it seems that they do not understand how to use heroes or magic. You end up increasing the difficulty level to compensate; but that just increases the micromanagement, in that you have to slog through all of those extra units. My 2¢ ...

I really did enjoy playing with such a great team. And I learned a few tricks, as well. But I do believe that someone else would probably enjoy the next adventure more than I. Good luck to you all!

If we capture/build a law (maybe life can't remember) node, we can cast sanctify on the hell terrain to return it to normal but unless Hyborem is destroyed it'll just come back. We have to get rid of him somehow...

I'm going to play tonight (12 hours or so), will check where the majority forces are set up for invasion and take it from there.

In my current game i have destroyed hyborem and hell terrain continues to spread to places I have cast sanctify am I missing something here?
