I like the new militias - cheap cannon fodder to soften things up for your heavy hitters. Also, its nice to see military units off the military tech line. Less of a punishment for us economy fiends.

I also really like the 'port travel' feature. Ever since the zombies first invaded, I've been stymied by the utter lack of roads on this continent.

I don't understand why the jousting list improves all military quality instead of just cavalry.

State labor: You get a one time cost and a one time gain. It seems like it should have more of an effect, like cheaper workforces by one level in exchange for lower gold yields on domestic improvements (bureaucratic inefficiency). Also, do you keep the free workforces when you leave this civic?

Ammendment:

i did not realize it but the 4th regiment defending Vaelyn had already suffered some attrition that had not be healed...

as a result of that attrition and the wounds incurred by the hungry dead in their most recent encounters, the bannor high command is saddened to hear that the brave 4th regiment who fought so well at Jarv and again has been destroyed.

Long live the lonely and brave scouts who now hold the city alone against the hungry dead.

Re: jousting lists:
it does only affect mounted units (see game effects text)

Re: the new labour civic...
the effects do continue to accrue.
what happens is that the civic produces a -1 value in the workforce column freeing up a workforce, so basically you get your most expensive workforce free. if you only have 1 workforce you only save 4/8/12 but if you have 4 you save 16/32/48 which can be quite a bit...
and yes, you lose the workforce when you leave the civic :(

EDIT: ekolite and i came up with the port feature together (it was his idea i believe) one evening on MSN when i was trying to get him to cyber with me. (just jokes!)

A note on a difficult situation:

The hungry dead have been around for a LONG time... originally they were provided to replace the doviello because except for wolves i (personally) think they are boring and i wanted an opponent i could 'get into' for the 'herthi peninsula'. the grigori consistantly did not scout the area (but had the turns before) so they had time to build up again and again. also, another nation knew about them and kept mum on the subject... hence why they grew so large.

also- when they first appeared there was no concerted effort to fight them (despite talk of it) even though the transmission mechanic was known.

i feel bad for the players who are figting overwealming odds at this juncture but i would like to point out that if earlier opportunities to act had been seized there would be no problem.

also- there is a few mercies provided:
1) the site for another life ritual (the tomb itself) is imprevious to the zombies- they do not want to get close to it and unless something is specifically drawing them towards it (ie: lots of living creatures) the province is mostly empty of any thing (living or dead- livign things get attacked and turned into zombies- zombies leave unless living things draw them back there) so getting to the tomb may not be that difficult- same with protected it (from the natural hungry dead- tuan's damned and others is a different matter)
2) 40gold of the ritual is recoverable.

also- there are MANY methods of fighting them
there is contact between the two continents now (through the sheim) so if orange wants to share his secrets he can (though i suspect he will not)
already we have seen some interesting methods.

lastly, when i designed this opponent it wasn't meant ot be fouht with swords and axes- coming up with creative and effective means of fighting them WAS the solution to the puzzle.

Having said all that, i DO think they got a little out of hand and there are 3-4 cities that could fall easily enough next turn if the problem doesn't find a final solution and for your sake i hope you do.... BUT i will not save you artificially by sending a god's angel or something like that... if edsunland falls than thats the end of edsunland and i'm very sorry but i get to blame it on "its my frist time modding- i didn't know :)" Sorry to be cruel, i truely hope you get out of this but it has to come from you all.

Looking forward to your orders.

Immac... I laughed so hard after reading this last post, I got dirty looks from everyone else in the room. I love you you've just potentially written off a continent - even more so that it's not my continent. ;)

Seriously, I do think that you guys over there have created the problem for your own selves, and furthermore, you've been rather uncreative in trying to fix it. You all assumed the ritual was the best and only way to fix the issue, which I don't think is so. No one's made a great effort at trying to use other methods, with the exception of LDi (who's not even a nation). I mean, I thought about it for like five minutes and came up with a good half-dozen alternative ideas, and a bunch of them don't even involve anything to do with my own special relationship with Death. Like I said before, I'm willing to come in as a consultant...

Also - I think that you guys were advantaged by being on the larger continent in the first place (more techs, diplo) - so this whole deal is a great equalizer.

Listen. just because the ritual was what we put our efforts into, does not mean it was our only idea. we just deemed it to be the one most likely to work.

I think it's got ridiculously out of hand. We have been punished enough for our various mistakes. It was fun at first but now the whole zombie thing is just tiresome.

its not meant to be a punishment; yes its out of hand.

i hope you can still enjoy the experience even if its difficult...

i think the solution will be all the more sweeter once you find it because its difficult.

what WILL you do? Kuriotates still want to use a life-mana-based ritual at the tomb and will contribute 35 gold towards it (no new ideas from them i guess...) but want the hippus and white mist elves to help defend the site.

Well some of us have other plans, but I guess we all got behind the Tomb idea because it was the most obvious. I think we'll see several ideas or a few of us won't make it out of this next update.

Edit: The Hippus will do no such defending until our cities have repealed the zombies besieging them. We are currently under siege so our army can't go anyways.

actually no- i am at work waiting for my PCR to run.

I think thats okay since its over-time anyway...

Not me, though I'm pretty sure said nation has already come clean.

they already did
(EDIT: x-post with merc)

stats are out- if you are missing your stats please yell a lot or e-mail me.

Yeah, thanks by the way for insisting on no foreign troops and then doing such a bang-up job of protecting the ritual. [/sarcasm]

Honest to God I am amazed that anyone was stupid enough to attack the Ritual >.<
