Update 3: Peace?

Master of the Horse Elected

The Gathering of the Clans has come to a close. A decision has been made. Voices from every clan were heard. Often when ale met passion, heated debates nearly broke into brawls. Nothing caused more controversy then a messenger from the Dib’Mahal, a religious sect devoted to Danalin. They claimed that Lugus had abandoned them, at that the Equos’ only choice was to turn to Danalin as their patron. The prophet called Dibenkai put his name forth to be elected as Master of the Horse.

Spoiler :
The Messenger horseman seems taken aback by the loud outbreak of the elders. After they calm down and he can take the word, he adresses them again:
"I dishonor the great mother? Look at yourselves, look at how comfortable you have grown with your large cities, how you have given up fighting for a better future and found pleasure in the hardships of this merciless desert! You keep the old traditions, not because they mean anything to you but because you don't know any other ways of living!

The Equos need to realize that the strength that runs in our veins is not a random blessing; that this world is ours for the taking-" The horseman makes a short pause, reaches down and grabs a handful of sand. "- Why settle for this dry sand -" he clenches the fist, and spring water runs down from his clenched fist. " -When we can flourish so easily? Know that I came to you out of devotion to my God and my Leader, without fear for my own life. Do with me as you want, but consider my message thoroughly. If you want a Master of the Horse who can lead you to greatness, who has visions for this nation of warriors, pick Dibenkai. If you want to continue eating sand and drinking the sweat of your hard-working parents, go elect someone else. But every time the rain taunts you with its abstaining, every time the Silver Tears shine on the sky, know what you have missed!"

When the message he sent was finished being read, the elders chased the messenger out of the conclave. A few even attempted to spear him. They elders were outraged. No mere tricks would convince them to turn away from their faith in the Kilmorph, the Great Mother, especially from those who preyed on newborn children. Out of this communal anger, a Sandwarden of Kilmorph stood and called for the outlawing of such heresy. He then gave a speech about how religious tolerance is what brought them into this war. He said the self-worshipping Nephilim saw this as weakness, and this was why they broke the oaths of their ancestors and attacked the Equos. The crowd of elders cheered in agreement. The new Master of the Horse was elected, and his name is Sandwarden Abelard.

Dib’Mahal declared Heretics. Equos will attack these cultists on sight.

Town Criers Out and About

The town criers of Corspe Co. are working hard to create a new niche in the Dahlia Marketplace. The tirelessly advertise every day. Among their catchy slogans is this one: Don’t be Insane! Find us a Canopic Brain and a reward will be yours to claim!

Corpse Co. advertises to pay handsomely for a Canopic Brain, no questions asked except verification that it is genuine.

Rumble in the Graveyard

The call of the Nephilim Parliament to investigate Dahlia’s cemetary was answered by both the valiant Forsaken Garrison and the up-and-coming Corpse Co. Teams of these two organizations each made camp in the graveyard for several nights. Six days and nights into the investigation, a great commotion was heard from the cemetary by nearby Grigori residents. A ghost was found by the mercenaries. It attacked, killing a few men. The Corpse Co. representatives followed the noise and found the ghost in his killing spree. They sent their zombies after it, and the ghost – little more than a blur – cut them down as well. The adepts raised the fallen mercenaries to augment their force. The ghost, seeming to tire, turned and fled. The next day the two groups went before the Parliament with their findings. The Garrison survivors also brought a complaint against Corpse Co. They wished to have to bury their dead, but the adepts ignore them. The parliament is currently discussing the matter, and the “Undead Question” becomes a citywide hotly debated topic.

Dib’Mahal Answer Prayers of Poor Farmers in Shedu

Rumors and gossip abound of a boy marked by Danalin who can bring the rain.

Courtesy of Diamondeye:

Spoiler :
Panam Trill exited his small house to look out over the plantation. He raised his gaze to the sky, completely void of clouds, and swore. Although few people realized, even incense needed rain. Their small areas of other growths had dried out almost beyond salvation, but if the rain came soon, it would still be enough to save the incense and with the money from that, he could at least buy some food for his family and pay the workers some sort of wage.

But it didn't look like the rain was in the mood to save his life and the lives of his family. He knew even the incense would not bear the dry weather indefinitely longer, and had spent the last week in changing moods, between deep depression and fervent prayer to all the gods that had come to mind; the god of the Sun, the god of Nature, the god of Life, and even the god of Justice, but none had responded.

He shook his head and walked into the fields to check on the plants. They were dry and light; no rain had fallen during the night. The workers had been expecting the harvest work for some time already, but there had been no reason to call them to the plantation, which was why Panam immidiately noticed the five figures moving around in the distance. The plantation was supposed to be void. Doubting that anything on the plantation was worth stealing, Panam nonetheless ran to the group of men, ready to ask them of their purpose in his property.

The men saw him coming. The Dib-Ma'Hal had followed a pair of rare ostriches, and had finally caught one of them after having chased it for a while, incidentally being led to the plantation. Two of the men were kneeling over their catch, but the other three were looking at the approaching Shedu man. The youngest of the Riders, a boy yet to reach his sixteenth year, held up a hand. "Let me speak with him." The two others standing nodded, the other two hunters looked up, nodded, and went back to work.

Panam reached the men and stood for a second, looking at them, while catching his breath. They were all carrying short bows and had light quivers in their belts, and this worried him until he caught a glance of their catch. They were merely hunters! Nevertheless, his bad mood got the best of him and he decided to tell them what he had originally had in mind. He caught the light-blue eyes of the nearest of them in his gaze and inquired: 'What are you doing in my plantation!'

To his surprise, one of the others replied; the smallest one, barely a man yet, looked at him with eyes as blue as the other's, and answered him in calm tones:
"We're merely hunting, and our prey decided that your plantation was a good place to hide. You have our sincere apologies if our chase has ruined any of your crop, but we have to eat."
Panam nodded. "Not that there's any crop worth destroying left. The rain's remained gone for weeks more than usual. If something doesn't change soon, I'm going to be the one needing something to eat, I'm afraid."
Panam was surprised to find that finally talking to someone other than his wife actually lightened his mood a little. The boy looked at him for a second, then spoke again.
"I am sorry for you. I would like to help you. I assume you pray your prayers?"
Panam nodded, demoralized. "I haven't done anything but asking Lugus for mercy this past week, yet the rain keeps its distance."
The boy reached into his quiver, pulled out an arrow and broke the metal arrowtip off. He clenched his fist around it, and Panam noticed several drops - presumably blood? - ran from the clenched fist.He was about to ask what was going on when the boy opened his hand again. Where the arrowhead had been, a small blue crystal remained. The boy handed it forward, mentioning for Panam to take it.
"It is a Water Crystal; a gift from Danalin. Walk with it in your hand through your plantations, gardens and crops, and wish for rain. When you go to sleep tonight, I want you to direct your prayer to The Angel of Water before sleeping, and it will be raining when you wake up tomorrow."
Panam looked sceptical. But he was desperate, and his crops needed water for his family to survive. He nodded in gratitude towards the boy, who returned the nod and got up to leave.
Out of habit and manners more than anything else, Panam asked the back of the boy: "Is there anything I can to thank you?"
The boy looked back at Panam, and his eyes shone like the crystal he had just procured out of a metal scrap. "Tell your workers who they owe their wage, who you owe your lives. And tell them that should they be willing to realize this debt, all they have to do is find me. I am Siwud, Danalin's Son."

With those words, the boy turned around again and left with the other men, their bows and baskets in their hands and quivers in their belts. Panam began to walk the plantation, clenching the strange, pristine crystal in his hand, whishing for rain. The Angel of Water! Why had he not thought of Danalin in his prayers before?

Dib’Mahal discover the spell Rain Bringing. Faith in Danalin Spreads in Kalm.

Mens Infinita Trial Ends…

After three long months, the judges have heard and seen all of the evidence the prosecution and defense had to offer. It was looking grim for the innocent looking devotees of the isolated magic tradition. But then the adept in charge of the Mens Infinitas defense stepped forward to give his closing argument. He posited a theory, that the Carlinns were murdered during the Long Night. He said some of the expert witnesses – veteran Dragon Slayers – even noted that the body parts they could make out looked already to be in an advanced stage of decay. He then said that he had found the real murderers, and they were presently being brought forth. All attending the trial looked to the doors of the courthouse; even the judges. After a long moment the adept admitted he had made it up. But the fact that everyone looked at the door, that everyone believed it was possible that the defendants didn’t commit the crime was reasonable doubt. It was a fact that it could not be determined with absolute certainty that the defendants did commit the crime, so therefore they should be set free.

The judges give their verdict: Mens Infinita followers are innocent due to insufficient evidence. The followers can now be utilized again. Mens Infinitas gains a reputation for clever debate. Mens Infinita’s Arts score in Dahlia increase by +1%.

Red Hills are now really just Red Hills

An army of orcs, goblins, and a numerous amount of ogres swept through the Draugr defenses of the Red Hills. Their rage was so savage that not one Draugr survived the onslaught, and neither did the city.

The small city of the Red Hills is razed to the ground.

Shedu Declare Peace

The armies of the Equos marched from Odio’s Prison across the border into Shedu land. The army didn’t pillage anything, or kill anyone. They simply marched their cavalry to outside the walls of Kalm, and stood there in battle formation. An envoy was sent out from King Shedu. In exchange for siging a Right of Passage agreement, the Equos agreed to a peace treaty. The army then left the city and continued eastward.

Dragon Slayers on the March

The Nephilim parliament has sent forth the Dragon Slayers. The armies cross the peaks of the Sunken Valley into Odio’s Desert, intent on meeting the oncoming Equos head on. Will the Equos with their fewer numbers be a match for the merciless Nephilm? Whatever happens, dark times are ahead.
