FfH2 0.16 Bug Thread

Not sure if this is intentionnal :

Playing as Lanun (neutral) , make a defensive pact and open borders with two GOOD civilization . I convert to octopuss overlords and asks the two good civilizations to convert octopuss ... they becomes neutral alignment .

But as soon i use Death , Entropy . I get a -4 to diplomacy for each .

bug or not bug , that is the question ?

Tcho !

Thats intentional. Right now the leaders attitude toward death and entropy magic (and compassion civics) aren't modified by their alignment. So a good leader will always hate entropy and death magic even if he is worshipping the veil.

Probably not the most logical situation, but that is the way it is setup right now.

Greetings!

I'm quite new to Civ4 multiplayer, but I've already hosted one normal game using PitBoss that went relatively well. Sometimes OOS-reconnects, but nothing more.

Now, playing the latest FFH patch after some time (maybe turn 80?), PitBoss started acting weird. The user interface portion starts showing "(Not Responding)" in the title line! And, I cannot use the UI at all (save or exit game..) This happens after I load the game information and either I click in the window or someone logs in. It might be savefile-specific - at one point there was one savefile that did that while another didn't. Also, I've noticed that now PitBoss shoots up to as much CPU usage it can whenever someone is logged on, and wicked usage - nothing else taking 100% makes my CPU fan crazy like PitBoss. I think it didn't do that before.

Strange though, the game itself works. I'd almost manage, but sometimes I need to shut down or reboot my computer, and each time I do that we lose one turn (because autosave is the only save there can be)..

Any similiar experiences, tips'n'tricks or anything? I'd very much appreciate any other way to make a savegame atleast :).

After clicking on show units with promotions available and then clicking on arrange vertically, I get this error.

When playing Khazad, my automated workers do not build any mines (dwarven or otherwise), they simply ignore the tile. Has anyone else come across this problem? I saw some worker improvements in some of the patches, but none of them mentioned the Khazad specifically. When playing Luichuirp, it seemed to work fine (but I haven't tested that recently, don't take my word for it).

Well I know that right now I'm finding the automation AI to be weird and suboptimal. Unless I'm the Ljosalfar the workers will cottage every unforested flat land, windmill every unforested hill, place the appropriate improvement on each resource I have, and then road every square of my empire.

Just wanted to bump this, as it seems to have been overlooked. Playing more w/ different races, I've gotten the same results. Cottage, windmill, resources and roads look like the only improvements my automated workers will do. Sorry if this has already been discussed, I just didn't see anything on it.

I had a Scout withdraw from battle with my Giant Spider. The Scout didn't have any promotions.

First, I was shocked the Spider didn't kill the Scout, and second, I have never seen a Scout withdraw from battle before.

Is this possible?

In the same game as above, I am a little confused with the whole Hidden Nation thing.

I have a couple of Giant Spiders. One has a Hidden Nationality, the other is mine nationality.

When goblins land on the same tile as the Spider, they are killed. However, when an orc spearman lands on the same tile as the Spider, it moves out of the way - the same as with an invisible unit.

Why the difference with the two units landing on the tile occupied by the Spider regardless of nationality?

Also, in a similar vein, is it impossible to have a unit with the Invisible promotion killed as long as it remains on a forest tile? It just moves away and cannot defend in a forest?

Thanks

Recon units can see the spider. So the goblin sees it and attacks. The spearman does not see the spider, so it slips away.

But, why does the spider 'slip away?'

When I am exploring with my warriors, they definitely don't slip away? There is a battle when I land on the same tile as a Giant Spider and usually I am on the losing end of it.

Why wouldn't the orc spearman just land on the spider provoking a battle?

Again, nationality of the spider doesn't have anything to do with it?

Maybe do you have a scout nearby?
Spiders are invisible, but scouts can see them.
As soon as ANY unit can see the spider every unit will be able to attack them.

If you dont have a scout near your warriros you might confuse offense and defense.
If you move your warrior on the spider tile, the spider will move one tile away but attack you in the babarian turn.

Another thing since it seems to have been overlooked:
Another small bug with loki:
When loki provokes a revolt in a city with zero culture you get this city as intented however if loki provokes a revolt in a city where you have a higher culture rating then the owner (and thus a %per that it revolts) nothing happens.

There are a few odd quirks with hidden nationality. Like I had a pirate ship sitting offshore attacking an opponent's city- fighting the land units, then healing. Just soaking up a few XPs is all.. Then I went and declared war on him and I could not attack his cities again. Or if I have a HN troop in my city- I will not be able to attack any enemy units within range until I move it out of my city, end turn and I can attack on the next turn. Theres more, but all I can think off the top of my head.

Its because hidden nationality units standing on one of your citys are of your nationatlity, I think Kael said that. And the Spider issues aren´t because of Hidden Nationality, but because of invisibility.

You are correct. An invisible creature cant ever be attacked by anyone who cant see him, no matter how much the odds are in his favor.

Hi there,
I just installed this superb mob (with the latest patch i) and I have one bug to report:
The Brewery does not seem to be working. I built it in two cities that both had corn and rice as resources but it does not show any happy face in the city screen. I am playing as the Ljosalfar race.
This is my first post so please allow me to congratulate you on this outstanding mod.

Mamamia.

Do the resources show up in the city screen? (upper- right of the screen) One quick thing to check though- You have to build farms on the resources, and connect them to your cities with roads.

Yes, the rice and corn resources show up on the city screen.

I havent been able to reproduce this. I played a game as the Khazad with my workers automated and they created mines appropriatly.

It doesnt show up very clearly, but if you look a city with a brewery will have +1 happy by the wheat resource (showing that wheat gives +1 happy and +1 health). A city without a brewery would just show +1 health from wheat.

Its a little confusing since you would expect it to show up on the building, not the resource, but thats how the interface displays it.

Ah, yes, you are correct. I guess I did not realize there would be an additional happy face for each of the three resources when a brewery had been built. So it makes sense to display them that way.

Thank you for clarifying that for me.

Would a saved game help? I'm not really sure how else to demonstrate it, since it's not throwing an error or anything. Let me know if that would be useful, and where to send it. Thanks!
