FfH2 0.30 Bug Thread

@GhostQ: Slavery was OO only until Shadow, but then it was changed so that any non-Good civ could use it. The Civilopedia is not up to date.

Known Issues:
1. "GFC error: failed to initialaize the primary control theme" error loading the mod. You will recieve this error if FfH isn't installed in the correct location (under Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods). If you don't have Civ4 installed to that location just make sure the FfH is installed in the same directory as Final Frontier, Age of Ice and the other mods that came with BtS.
I am having this GFC error occur at "Init Fonts". I have verified that the location is correct and identical to the mods which shipped with BtS... "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\...". However my first install did not follow that path. I used the default path in the auto-installer which was incorrect and had installed FfH2 0.30 in the Civ4 Mods. So I deleted the mod and restarted the PC. This time I browsed to the correct location and installed it there. I verified that the mod was in the correct location but I still got the GFC Error. So I then checked the mods folder and discovered that FfH2 0.23 was installed in both the Civ4 and BtS mod folders. This is a new PC and I have never had .23 on this machine. I deleted .23 in the Civ4 and BtS mod folders but still get the error. Any ideas?

UPDATE: From the Shadow download I had somehow erroneously downloaded version 0.23c instead of 0.30. I went back and choose a different Gameflood link from the same page and that time I got the correct version. The download was successful but failed to execute. I redownloaded it and it failed again. My third attempt was successful.
 
so it sound like not only i have this prob, so mayby the rision is into patch h ?

Yeah, unfortunately, I think I'm going to give it a rest until the next patch/version comes out.

I continued my game tonight in Turn 781. I had the same CTD in Turns 786, 788, and 796. Then, I had it three times in Turn 809 each time I loaded.

The CTD always comes during the AI's turn.

I've had bad luck so far with Shadow. First, the long times between turns on larger maps. Now, this. I have only been to finish one Shadow game (I do play on Epic speed) and that was a quick Conquest Victory. All the others have bogged down because of the time between turns or CTDs.

I keep starting new games, really enjoy the play, and hoping THIS game will be different, but when it gets to mid-game the crap starts happening.

Oh well, let's see what happens with the next version. :)

Does the barbarian have the tech Iron Working ?

You can try That. Perhaps that will solve your problem .

Something may be wrong with Freaks. I built one and it disappeared the next turn when another unit arrived in the city. I built another one and it was not mutated, but a Swordsman in the same city was.
 
I don't know whether it's my computer, or if it's the host, or what it is, but when I downloaded it from GameFlood, and tried to run it afterward, it gave me this:

Script exec error: t72.lua:68: bad argument #1 to 'ipairs' (table expected, got nil): -1

google gave me nothing.

tips?
 
The new game concepts entry on werewolves makes sound like they lose the enraged promotion during the feral to blooded event, but that's not the case. Did you decide that werewolves should stay enraged or is this a promotion problem?
 
Its supposed to expire when they upgrade to blooded werewolves. So they will go barbarian if they arent fed. Once they are fed they become yours.

But there is no current reasonable way to remove a promotion. So Im going to have to put something together.

Hmm.. I may just have it removed by combat.
 
The Black Dragon doesn't have the hero promotion, and I'm not sure if this is intentional or not.

Thanks for your suggestion. There ARE barbarian Champions on the map.

However, where did your suggestion come from? I couldn't find this in the Troubleshooting thread or here.

There are a number of CivEventManager.py files (CIV IV, Warlords, BtS, etc.).

Change that line in one, some, or all?

According to the link (upper right hand corner) it is post 1638 in this very thread :)

It is just that line. You can use CTRL + F to search for Maceman and that is the only entry you will get (it was a different line for me for some reason). You need the CvEventManager.py in the FfH/Assets/Python folder.

I made the suggested change and played 20 turns without a CTD.

Sorry, I missed that advice the first time it was here - I may have read it and had no idea it was causing my constant CTDs.

I suppose that change will be made in the next patch.

Not sure if this is a bug or just an exploit. Take a werewolf, disband (turns barb) attack with any unit which has subdue animal (have a few) and hey presto you have a "new" werewolf. Repeat and you have a ready source of xp
 
Sorry its been posted a couple of times, but havent seen an acknowledgement of it.

Patch H seems to have broken multiplayer. We had to reinstall patch G to be able to play. In patch H, it seemed to go out of synch usually, within the first 30 if not 20 turns.

This happened to me yesterday. Playing as the Amurites on a Standard Map with only 3 other civs left (so I don't think it is down to too much going on). Strangely, I found that I could still save/load games or enter worldbuilder even though globe pointer was still spinning. I found a part-workaround of saving the game in world-builder and then starting up the scenario (I'm aware this resets the AC and diplomacy). Even when I did this the hang occured again around 20 turns later.

I'm wondering whether this is related to a buggy world spell or Over/Undercouncil as both were in play in the game. It seems something during the AI turn is getting stuck in a loop. I can upload the saves if anyone is interested.
 
I linked patch "i" in the first post. I redid a lot of the armageddon events to try to make them less likely to OOS. Im going to try to put together some OOS debug builds this weekend and they will be on this codebase (so if you are a multiplayer I would really like to hear how this version does for you).

It makes the following changes:

1. Added a fix so that events randomly select cities and units correctly (fix by c.fe).
2. Added the Machine Parts event.
3. Added the Affluent Duke event (Rex rgis of Ter).
4. Added the Spider Mine event (Bringa).
5. Added the Ransom event (crime).
6. Added the Smugglers event (crime).
7. Added the Witch event (judgement).
8. Added the Murdered Wife event (judgement).
9. Added the Strange Advisor event (mrtomsmith).
10. Added the Dreams of Death event (prophecy, mrtomsmith).
11. Added the Saundra event (Nikis-Knight).
12. Added the Sage Keep event.
13. Added the Orphanage Fire event (Feydras).
14. Added the Dedicate Obelisk event (Nikis-Knight).
15. Added the Rabbit event (for my friend Wilboman).
16. Added the Merchant Keep event.
17. Added the 5 exotic mercenary events (Nikis-Knight).
18. The Enraged promotion is now removed by combat and has a 3% chance per turn of turning the unit barbarian.
19. New Clockwork Golem model by seZereth.
20. New Maros model by Chugginator.
21. New Khazad Warrior model by Chugginator.
22. New Khazad Immortal model by Chugginator.
23. New Khazad Phalanx model by Chugginator.
24. New Dwarven Adept model by seZereth.
 
I notice that the new patch still has UNIT_MACEMAN instead of UNIT_CHAMPION in line 1646 of CvEventManager.py. This seems to be causing late game crashes when the barbarians get iron working (as originally reported here - though the line number varies a bit).

Can anyone find any other known bugs, we can "re-point" out before the flood of balancing suggestions, ideas, etc come pouring in? With the volume of posts in this forum, they're bound to get missed, so I'm just wanting to get them seen =)
 
I think version i breaks save games. I'm trying to load a patch h save. But I get a CTD. I'm trying to screenshot the error but it is so fast its been hard.
