FfH2 0.31 Bug Thread

coupla issues I've spotted so far with events, the first is that the event where you spot a tree that glows at night doesn't seem to have the right result when you select the option to have priests lay the spirits to rest. it says -5 to the armaggedon counter, but it was just 2. the other is the event where frostlings are spotted. I got the event three times, all in the same location, on top of a mountain. The frostlings despawned the next turn without actually doing anything. the mountain was in my territory, dunno if it was that or the entire unpassable terrain thing that was causing issues.

Not sure if these were already addressed, but:

* The Tomb of Succellus wasn't giving me life mana, even though it was right next to my city and connected with a road. Anything more that I need to do to get the mana?

* I had a warrior who was promoted with Combat II and Shock guarding a city. He was attacked and won enough XP for a promotion. Next turn I promoted him to Combat III and on the same turn, my production of a new warrior finished. The following turn, I had two brand new warriors -- no promotions on either of them. Not sure if it was the Combat III promotion of the production of the new warrior but somewhere along the line his promotions disappeared.

You need to have Alteration, I think, to get the life mana out of the Tomb. Either that or Knowledge of the Ether.

Phyton Error. Ashen Veil was not even in this city. Don't know if it has to though.

Something I noticed while playing as the Lanun with the OO. Once I have the ability to build Stygian Guard, I lose the ability to build Drown. The trouble is that Stygian Guard do not come with Waterwalking, while Drown do.

Stygian Guard that I upgrade from Drown preserve the Waterwalking promotion, but new Stygian Guard don't have it.

Drown get the fortified bonus even when on the water, so I wanted to use them as resource garrison. Upgraded to waterwalking Stygian Guard, they're potentially more powerful than Man O'Wars.

The promoted ones also keep their fire vulnerability, but you're right, keeping that path open is nice (easy to do with an upgrade to SNAITM). Drown-and-upgrade in the same turn has proved very usedul for emergency defence in my current game - trying to deal with Cardith Lorda, his allied Basium, and about 4 of his vassals across a long front, plus 2 horsemen at once (appearing on the same tile still, btw - 's pretty nasty) as the Sidar is a fun challenge :)

the AC is dependent from the mapsize and some other factors, so it is possible that it seems to increase or decrease slower than it should

Anyways, Kael, if you figure out what is going on with the game that is CTDing which I posted a few pages back. could you let me know what was going on with it? It's just out of curiosity and I also want to continue that game. Although I might reconsider continuing that one because I think I went and got Hyborem too early. Hyborem ended up in a sucky start anyways and I thought the population wasn't affected by food for the infernals because I did get a starvation thing in relation to the food.

Edit: I looked at xienwolf's manual again and it says that it requires using those manes to increase population. I've been going about it the wrong way. Although there is a discrepancy with the manes, I seem to be getting them anyway when fighting Hippus I think, who were neutral in my game. Unless there was some fighting elsewhere that was giving me them. Still, I think that game is messed up because I didn't do things right. I was using the manes as fighters, not city builders.

Oh, right, shoulda mentioned that I guess. I was playing marathon speed on the biggest map size possible.

EDIT: nm, not a bug, don't know why it took so long though. I'll leave the 'interesting' story below.

hmm, I'm not sure if this is a bug or not. In the game I'm playing, I founded the Empyrean and founded the Overcouncil, but then in order to go to war with the Khazad, I had to change membership from overcouncil to none. However it was after me and the Khazad tried to vote on a council leader, but it came out a tie (greedy dwarves voted for themselves, figures...). Then I later went to war with them. Long story short, after the war, I went back into the council and got the other two civs into it, but this has been for several turns and no popup relating to the overcouncil has come up yet.

Anyways, I should have accepted the Khazad's deal for bieng my vassal because I ended up in a really long drawn out war of attrition which I won...... eventually, lol >< Having no siege capabilities, the Ljossafar certainly aren't good at war. The fact that he only had 3 cities and I had like 5 and he was squeezed into a corner of the continent probably helped, plus the fact that I had built up troops on the border.

Still, if he had been about the same size as I am, or larger, I'm not sure how long I would have lasted.

Just so you know smjjames, I 've downloaded your saved game that you were having problems with, and I was able to play 10+ rounds in without a crash... So there might just be something wrong with your copy of FFH, bts, a bad patch or involving your OS (drivers, memory or something).

well I haven't had ANY other problems like that with FfH or any repeat crashes like that with vanilla BtS.

Still, there might have been something that you did differently that stopped it from crashing. Did you try making that imp set blaze on the woods there (only one imp in that game) and going next turn? because I'm not sure if the barbarian unit going into the same square as the fire is causing the crash, but I've been able to reproduce it because if I either don't set it on fire or move the imp, it doesn't CTD the very next turn.

Well, I tried setting a bunch of forest on fire with that Imp and still no crashes 10+ turns later.. =\

Unless I am missing something, as this is the first time I have ever tried to use this ability...

Cast (STEAL)
I am friends with the the Illans and they have Orthus Axe in a city not on a unit (I killed it with a hidden nat unit).
When I try to use this ability with my Ghost (Sidar Assassin) (built in a city with Council of Esus and Aeron's Chosen), I am not able. The skill is not even active to try and use it. I have tried this with the Ghost adjacent to the city, but even in the city with the axe.

Council of Esus is my state religion and I am a member of the under council. I have also built the Nox Noilis.

Can someone explain where I am going wrong?

Also there have not been any elections or votes, ever... It has been nearly 300 years since founding the Council and build the Nox.

Cheers

EDIT: I figured out the steal. The item must be on a unit not laying on ground in city.

So like... it turns out you can STEAL the Pieces of Barnaxus FROM Barnaxus. Then of course the Luchuirp can get them back with someone OTHER than Barnaxus and wind up with 2 (or as many as this continues for) little Golem Masters running around Erebus...

@giddion: Councils were changed in .31, you don't need Dies Diei or Nox Noctis anymore, now you just need 3 people running the Council Civic. So get more people to join and it should start working.

I received the penguin random event early on in a plot, that worked fine. About 10 turns later the same event occurred on a different plot within the same city, but nothing appeared. The same event occurred about another 10 turns later on the same plot that failed earlier.

Bug or expected?
