FfH2 0.33 Bug Thread

Hmm, not sure, but I think that The Infernals starting building might provide enought culture to protect them from Loki, but don't quote me on it.

they get a palace, and thus enough culture to stop loki from flipping. There could also be a code in place preventing capitals from being flipped though

It isn't only for Cotton, it is just that the other resources you mentioned have tech prereqs before you can get the resource, whether though an improvement or through a city.

Once more: why?

Why do I get cotton for free and for sugar I need calendar? Both fall in the same category of calendar ressources, so why, intendedly, should cotton have no prerequisites? Is there any reason, or is it just flavor/fun or a biased dice?

One other thing I noticed is that if the AI just converts its hammers to Culture, I cannot flip the city. Pretty good strategy, if intended that way because as soon as Loki leaves the city, they start building something. I run back, it is Culture again. :crazyeye:

One other thing on this same topic:

When you DO flip cities with Loki do you get any negative diplomatic points? I wouldn't think so, but all three of the civs I was busy with flipping their cities declared war on me rather unexpectedly. Two of them (Flauros and Svartalfar) went from Cautious to War. There wasn't much that would start a war, and I'm thinking maybe all the flipping was doing some damage diplomatically.

I always wonder about how using your HN units like Shadows to wage a 'quiet, secret' war on a civ affects relations or not. Again, I don't think so, but I'm not so sure.

Ours in not to question why, ours is but to do and die. (It seems like that would be a good quote for an Order missionary to the Balseraphs, doesn't it?)

I don't know why Cotton should have no prereqs for being connected while other resources do. Maybe its growing season is more flexible? I'm no expert on growing such resources in real life. I do know that cotton was one of the first crops than humans grew though. I have read that growing cotton to make fishing nets predates all food crops in South America.

I've found that Loki's spells are pretty worthless one the tech that allows building culture is acquired. I really think it should be made stronger, but given a small diplo penalty (it does not yet have one, although it could cause close border diplo problems, and give the AI an easy city to target for conquest) when successful.

Using HN units can't effect relations. I think I'll see about making having HN units in rival territory have a small penalty using the Fall Further schema though.

Hmmm, just installed 2 033, and I get the GFC error: failed to initialaize the primary control theme but when I look in Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods I see Fall from Heaven 2 033, and the Folder has all the right files. Any Idea what's wrong?

did you patch BtS to 3.17?

Yes, and I have patch G, and I had no trouble what so ever playing 2032.

You probably only applied the patch. You need to download and installed the whole mod.

The reason is that Cotton sucks. I mean, it's what, +2 Commerce? That's worse than a village.

well, it is +3 Commerce and you could say something similar about sugar ;)

and sorry I do not want any made up reasons; I think someone forgot to put the prerequisite tech, and nobody ever complained since cotton is not very good anyway

however, if one of the mod guys says it is intended, for whatever reason, I would like to know...

Yeah, but Sugar applies under Breweries.

You may be right; it may be an honest mistake. However, I do believe it is the worst resource overall, either way.

sorry, but sugar gets no bonus from breweries, whereas cotton yields one :) with the tailor (Kuriositate), so sugar is a good candidate for the worst ressource as well

anyway, the doubt about the prereq remains...

another bug: spirit mana should give 5% GPP Bonus - it currently does not

Is the Sugar resource still in the game? I haven't seen it in quite some time.

I downloaded the whole mod. Guess I have to try downloading and instaling it again, since no one seems to know what is wrong.:(

That error specifically means that the game cant find the "../Mods/Fall from Heaven 2 033/Resource/Civ4.thm" file. The most common reasons for getting it is that the player only applied the patch (that file is only in the main download) or that the player renamed the "Fall from Heaven 2 033" directory.

It does not display it, or you tested the numbers and it wasn't getting a bonus?

People have reported before that the bonus won't display, but that when they set up specialists in a city to provide exactly some XX GPPs, and linked up a couple of Spirit Mana that the next turn they did get the appropriate bonus amount added.

I had posted earlier about some problems with Decius.

I finished the game w/him leading the Malakim. I found that I was able to build Warrens and build Wolf Riders and Ogres in my captured Clan cities but couldn't seem to build Javelin Throwers in my captured Doviello cities. I was able to build the Cave of Ancestors in my captured Amurite cities, but I won a religious victory before any of them were built.

However, I had said I didn't have a world spell. Well I built Birthright Regained and still didn't have one. So does Decius not have one? I would think he'd have the same as whichever Civ he was leading.

Plus, not a bug but a request. Could something be done with Barnaxus? The Lurchirp got whacked early in the game by the Doviello and I capture his pieces later and lugged them around for the rest of the game. Couldn't there be an something added to address this? Maybe take the pieces back to the RoK Holy City and 'sacrifice' the pieces for some goodies? Or perhaps if you get the Clockwork Golem event, you get added promotions or something if you have the Barnaxus pieces?

Okay, I looked, and something was wrong with the Installer/Download file. It incorrectly installed it the first time, and I is now non-funtional. I'll need to re-download it. I have no idea what was wrong with the installer/download file. Darn.

You were playing Fall Further, and those are known problems to be fixed in the next release.
