FfH2 0.34 Bug Thread

.34d

1. I was allowed to build and use a Command Post using a Great Leader without having either of the prerequisites.

2. Intermittent crash to desktop when advancing turns. I've attached a save. It doesn't happen every time, but should it allow the advance the crash follows a few turns later.

I suggest that monsters from lairs should not be allowed to spawn in cities. Not my city, anyway :p

Is it just me, but I can't build any of the Ilian Rituals ?

Neither Samhaim (has no requirements), nor The white hand or the Deepening (I got Priesthood/Philosophy) are available in any of my towns.
So is there a secret prerequisite besides those listed in the Civilopedia, did something "go wrong" when I updated from patch c to d or is this really a general bug ?

Cheers,

You built a city on top of a barrow?

Can you link a save so I can check it out?

The game crashed to desktop at random for several previous turns. Now it never makes it to the next turn without crashing.

No python errors.

No crash for me.

The leader was a Great Commander, right? This is a feature. The listed prerequisites are for building the Command Post the normal way.

You built a city on top of a barrow?

It looks like the spider event created the spider in his city because it was next to the lair.

not sure if it's a bug or how civ4 works, but the combat odds don't seem to take into account first strikes... it's very misleading :D

It works for me. Tested with Warrior (Drill 1) vs Warrior (none). v34d.

um... why is the patch letter skipping e?

It works for me. Tested with Warrior (Drill 1) vs Warrior (none). v34d.

drill 1 gives just a first strike CHANCE though, not a first strike. I "tested" it with a high level hunter figthing a hill giant with 1 first strike ( not first strike chance ) . new random seed on reload on. I saved before attacking, combat odds where slightly above 50% . I attacked it like a dozen times, and always got killed. maybe it was just an unlikely stream of bad luck, but I don't think so..

What Cyther said. I explored the barrow down and to the right of the ruin in the picture, the ruin of course being my initial city. The city was empty at the time.

Drill 1 only gives a chance for a first strike, true. The combat odds still give an edge to the warrior with that chance. I just tried it again with Drill 2 (and only drill 2 = 1 first strike) vs nothing and the odds were better (~56%).

Use the worldbuilder to put identical units (one of them with the drill 2 promotion) to the test.

It's unlikely to lose a dozen fights around 50%, but unless the combat odds that are displayed are wrong ... first strikes are being counted.

Just desserts if you explore a lair that early.
Exploring lairs are supposed to involve risk, especially early game and especially if you leave your city empty.
No offense...

I never attached any files on these forums before, so hopefully this is working...

I'd guess that you have the hidden "GAMEOPTION_NO_PROJECTS" option on, probably from activating one of the FF options and having it saved.

I prefer to just make all the options visible. I like being able to capture all buildings (except when I capture Pagan temples as the Illians).

Yeap, MC is correct. Load up Fall Further and uncheck all the options.

BtW, its easy to see which options you have active in a game. Just go to the victory screen and click settings.

My game crashed today when I reloaded directly after saving and losing a combat (I know, lame, but Rosier should have won, easily, against goblins!). It gave me a "bad memory allocation" error. The same save worked fine when I reloaded from the desktop, so I think this was something relating to the fact that I'd been playing (and saving on and off) for awhile. I've seen this same thing happen before in .33 and other versions... play for awhile and then eventually a "load game" will crash to desktop. I can attach my game if that's helpful but I'm thinking it probably wouldn't be, since if you just load that game fresh, it seems to work fine.

Any ideas why this happens?

Graphic of Beast of Agares on the interface is a bit broken.

After razing a Balseraph city with Hyborem a Gela appears on that tile. I killed a mirror of Hyborem but is it supposed that mirrors leave equipment, so there are 2 gela?
