Ugh, I got stuck at the western desertlands with the skullriders or whatever they are. Little pumpkin enemies are a real pain.

I like the characters and the battle system but really dislike how it seems you got special items, which is really random. Good story though, reminds me of Tactics. Not as good as Tactics, but it tries to go in that direction with political intrigue and whatnot.

I'm up to just after where you got stuck... and got stuck on a hunt again... stupid dragon.... Also chaining quickenings O.O

Thats the other thing, it always seems like you get horsehockey quickening chains during boss fights, but you get massive twenty long ones in normal battles.

There are only 2 FF movies, Spirits within and Advent children, which is on DVD and the psp cards.

I wonder why I never posted here!!!

FFVII is the best IMO.

I saw advent children and I got FFVII back and playing it right now!!!!

I've just spent a few days (blame social life collapse) playing a few Final Fantasy's I found under my bed, so I thought I'd give my opinions:

FF4,6.

I found these games a bit lacking... the graphics really hinder attachment to the story for me, and the battle system is a bit 1-D.

FF5

This is my favorite of the earlier titles. The job system more than makes up for the graphically inferiority... I'd say this is easily the best battle system of any of the games.

FF7

Never been a fan of this game... The story was far to convoluted and hard to follow, and the battle system made for dull fights.

FF8

My second favorite. I love the story and setting of this game, and Triple Triad is the best mini-game in the series. The battle system is easily exploitable, but I feel this only affects the difficulty of the early game to any extent. The garden battle is one of the coolest set pieces of any FF. The best music of the series to my ears.

FF9

Suffered from the same lack of cohesion that affected 7 IMO. Trances sucked, and 4-person parties are hard to control with the ATB. The characters were too young, aswell.

FF10

My favorite. The story has a consistant antagonist and enjoyable battle system. The story line only gets more convoluted when you actually know whats going on, and the graphics are pretty but simple which results in some memorable characters. Blitzball is dull, but thankfully optional.

FF12

I found this game got old quick. Lots of wandering, and the gambit system is too good... even vaguely intelligent planning eliminates the need for player input and renders the game too easy.

Well, since I'm making a FF mod for Civ III (heh, heh), I guess I should probably weigh in....

Of course, just by looking at my avatar, one would come to the conclusion that FF VII is my favorite, and they'd be right. Cid Highwind, IMNSHO, is the best video game charachter EVER!! (Shut UP! You're gonna sit down in those chairs and drink your G-- D--- TEA!!!).

That said, I also have played VIII, IX, and X, and enjoyed them all as well.... VIII's main problem for me (and the reason why I hated it at first) was the rather steep learning curve for the junctioning system, especially after the user-friendly materia system in VII... Once I got the hang of it, not having to mug monsters for ethers (and then subsequently use said ether so your casters can heal the party of the damage they sustained in the mugging process) was rather nice.

My only beefs with IX was the fact that 1) in ATB mode, you wait forever and a day for your turn to come up, and after you input the charachters command, you gotta wait forever and another day for them to actually DO anything, by which time the monster has wiped your party out.... and beef #2) Not only are Ethers and Turbo Ethers more rare than the legendary philosopher's stone, but you can't buy them even if you had a billion Gil, meaning that your casters are useless after about 5 riounds of combat, and you end up spending all your money on tents....

X is easily my second-favorite in the series... I liked it almost as much as VII. I especially like how you can keep everyone's XP and level development on an even keel by their awesome "change charachters in mid-battle and as long as they did something they get full XP" system.

Truronian, you consider Final Fantasy 2/4, 5, and 3/6 to be the "earlier" titles in the series? By the time FF3/6 came out, I'd been playing the original game for more than five years. Way to make me feel old! Young whippersnappers don't appreciate the old gems, I swear... :old:

I liked every one EXCEPT FF12.

First battle.

I see the system.

WTH?

It's more like Kingdom Hearts.

After first battle. Shut off.

They took the battle system from Kingdom Hearts and stuck it on FF12.

Greatest. Dissappointment. Ever.

I liked FF12's Battle system, very intuitive, and you can set up buffs without having to worry about casting them. <3 Gambits

FF IV & IX are my favorites but Tactics is close 2nd.

I really hate it when the characters have no defining class(like white mage, thief, and warrior).

Tanks for posting! didn't think I'd get a post from you haha:goodjob:

FF XII's battles system was not a thing like Kingdom Hearts; KH is live action button mashing essentially. It's fun, but basically, you run around, hit X a lot, and occasionally triangle for combos or cast a spell. FF XII was still menu driven, just a sort of "timed real time" battle system, although it paused when you made selections.

Oh, and mediocre bump is mediocre. :P

Edit: Lolz, I had only played 1 and 2 when I voted here. Now, I've played some more. I have to say XII was uber impressive. VII also is really good.
