I guess they'll release the patch when it's done. ;)
I rather them work on it and not rush the patch so it fixes the issues they know, otherwise we'll see more complaining.

right, would be nice if your team member wouldn't been spreading lies like:"they going to release a patch in the week of 7 to 11 november! i agree with you anyway, and i'm sure you know which team member of civfanatics im talking about..he raises the hopes of tousends of players..nothing happens, and dang, then there's friday and all are disappointed!! it's not nice spreading lies!

yup.

In fact, everybody at Firaxis died, and all of their offices were destroyed, and everybody who knows them personally has gotten amnesia, and all copies of Civilization 4 are self-erasing as we speak.

ROFL i surely hope so!! :)
at least some more honorable company can follow the lead and make civ5 a success, because if civ stays a franchise of take two(now they dictate firaxis take two is basically the bad bastard) civ4 will be the last of the civ franchise..it's a pitty how such a wonderfull concept can die like this...the gaming options of civ4 are nearly half of civ3..except for some things like upgraded units they basically destroyed 50% of the options in civ3 :( in civ5 we only keep the phalanx as unit left :) so i surely hope some other company can work on civ5 :)

It is better to have one good patch than several monor ones. So give them some more time. I am also waiting for the patch and I hope it won't be one like in cossacks 2. Were the patch brought more bugs than it should resolve, just because they wanted to be quick.

noone said they must bring out the patch immediatly, but there are 2 mega annoying things ongoing here.
1) stating:"we bring out the patch next week" while nothing happens, of course they could have more time, but please, then stop saying you come next week, and just say:"we need more time, and we dont know how long"
2) firaxis is not communication with the community..somehow they are only communicating with this "thunderfall" what kind of support is that to us as gaming community? if you wanna make a statement, why mailing such to a moderator of civfanatics? make that statement on your homepage!

these 2 FACTS, commented by my critic, strenghten me to say:"thunderfall is part of the take two commercialising of civ, and they are about to ruin this wonderfull franchise by not giving proper support or at least make a statement that something is wrong and they're working on it"

the only knowlegde that firaxis is doing something, i get from this thunderfall....wowoooooo..i'm really impressed that this way of communicating is the best that firaxis or take two can do! really, awesome communication! :) you are the best take two! the best in ruining credits of trust and believe! :p

They never said they'd bring out a patch next week. There was a tech guy at Firaxis who was cited with saying something "might" be incoporated in a patch next week. This was never meant to be official, an the tech guy wasn't authorized to give out such information in the first place. Actually we don't even know if the mail exchange really happened since we have no proof.

Firaxis is working on patches, and they cannot know how long it takes, you never know that when patching complex software. Do they have to explicitly state that on their homepage? What *else* do you think they might be doing now, twiddling their thumbs?

I don't know what you want to achieve by crusading against Thunderfall in every second or third post you write ... I ask you again, when and where did Thunderfall give such information? Do you have a link? I can't find it. All I see is this rather vague proposition from a personal mail by a tech guy.

4 more days until the patch is 1 week later then promised

Care to show me where Firaxis has ever promised a patch date?

They didn't, and frankly they can't and it would be a stupid thing to do. Patches have to go through QA. What do you do when QA rejects the patch you were just going to release because it introduced a new problem that has to be fixed before? Release it and be slaughtered by angry fans who encounter the new problem? Or don't release it and be slaughtered by the same fans for not "living up to the promise"?

They are of course working on the isues, and the patch will come when it's ready.

Just fix the gamespy. Please. I am spending 90% of my time waiting in the lobby or staging room for other people that can't connect. I'm properly configured, behind the DMZ of my router, and not firewalled, hardware or software. Then about 3/4 of the games that do fire die to the infamous OUT OF SYNC ERROR, which creates alternate game states for each player...

Firaxis never officially said a patch would be in our hands this week (or last week, or next week, or ...). All one tech guy at the company said was that they planned to releas a patch "next week". Be sure, even a patch needs to go through testing and QA. It could be that something they "fixed" didn't work right in testing, or QA found a different problem, so it's back to the drawing board.

As far as "communicating with the community", they got burned badly with Civ3, when they said certain things would be in the game, and then they weren't. There is no way that they will come here and say "We are releasing a patch on <pick-a-day> and it will contain <specific> fixes". That is a sure way to lose all credability, when the patch is late, and doesn't contain those fixes.

No information are given at the Firaxis web site, take 2 site and civ4 official site...
No news right now = bad news, seems to me!

Leve de Belgische Republiek,

and generally, may NATO, EU, USA live long and prosperous and protect us all from tyrannies and dictators.

Belgium isn't a republic :). We are still a monarchy (allthough most young poeple would love to dismiss the king), so change your sig to : "Lang leve de koning!" (Long live the king). [Unless you are against the monarchy, than you can leave your sig and come demonstrate in Brussels :p]

Greets,
Rob.
