An update:

My settler is building a tat too late maybe.

I was also thinking of my 2nd city in that area and I'm gonna take your advice and settle at 1 NW of the corn :D

2640BC Buddhism was founded, I had expected that one much earlier :o

edit: Next turn Caesar converts to budhism

the expansion is very worth it. BTS adds a ton of complexity with espionage, great generals, colony expenses and vassals. Plus all the extra civs are very cool.

It's not late for building first settler. I usually start my first one at size 4. Just remember to escort your settler so that he doesn't get eaten by an animal.

Tell me that you aren't automating your workers.. You should manually use your workers in order to learn better play. Automated workers don't have any strategy, and sometimes do very stupid things (farm over a cottage while another worker is cottaging over a farm at the same time, for example..) Your worker is farming a plains tile at the moment, which isn't really wise. A plains farm is 2 food 1 hammer, which isnt so great tile. He should be building a mine or chopping a forest (if you have BW) instead.

He wasn't automated, I just didn't had the tech yet, after that he made a camp on my ivory and BW is being researched as we speak :)

One reason I first read up on the game before a serious round is because I want to give my own orders to workers and also know what would be the best orders.

Tragedy happend as my Woodsman II warrior was killed by a lion :(

Okay, that's great to hear. But he should have been building a road towards the ivory instead, because you are going to do that soon anyway. Sorry for this kind of nit-picking, but I'm a micromanager for heart.

I would scrap the barracks and do military during growth then send settlers into fogbusted nice spots. Just so you know no barbarians will never spawn where your borders or units light up the map. But they will in the dark.

Bloody hell you are fast, i'm checking spelling and you are already building your settler, well done please continue.

@zanttu

I'm really into micro-management as well (I think its great because then you really have thought about everything thats in your empire and not just the big picture), and i should have build road instead. Lets call it a beginners mistake :D

@d72

I scrapped the barracks, I only clicked it because I didn't want to build settlers right away and this was the best thing I could think of to build also this way it will be faster done when i decide to finish it.

Next turn settler is complete, I'm going for 1NW from the corn. Should I sent my fortified warrior along ? I don't see any Barbs in the area so I think he should be fine ?

After this I'm gonna build a scout to see where those other civ's are.

Unless he's going to fill in a city within your borders, always escort settlers (and workers) with military units. Barbarians can appear anywhere in the fog (even if recently explored), and some like panthers move two spaces so once you see them it may be too late.

Where are you going to settle again? Hopefully somewhere near those great floodplains and corn in the southwest... remember that food is top priority when settling new cities, make sure the city will have enough food to grow to a good size.

Since your cap is not at max happy you aren't making a misstake by camping the fants and then roading, you are actually making the ca+p moore effectfull by giving it a powerful tile to work instead of say a forrest. But road that one sooner rather than later as it raises happycap.

@d72

The workers are just 1 turn away from finishing the road ;)
At the same turn my settler will be done and I'll be off founding my next city :D

The workers are now building a quarry on the marble and heres mecca's city overview:

While my warrior and settler are on their way to the new settlement.
My scout was ready. And now I'm thinking of building Stonehenge any thoughts on that ?

As far as i know panthers only spawn in jungle and since this is the north he/she should be fairly safe from them at least ;).

Sure but do you want it? in some turns brozework is in and you can elect the power of slavery. Any size 2 city can whip a monument if it has some hammers invested maybee even without.

If you got hindu then yeah you want the profet for a shrine. Or just for denial, why grant the ai free borderpops?

Other:The profet is nice if you settle him for the gold for further expansion.

Well I want to go for shrine, I just gone ahead and started on Stonehenge.

also:

Medina has been founded:

I'm not sure what to build a warrior or a worker in medina. Also note the 2 lions in the area of my Capital:

any tips ?

Also I'll attach the save:

I would road to the river, to connect the outskirts to the cap for traderoutes. In bts or wrl it was changed to require sailing.

I would build a Warrior in Medina. You need it to grow. I would have the worker scuttle over there and build a farm on the corn also.

That's the problem with building Stonehenge. You've now lost the ability to build more workers, warriors, and settlers for quite a while.

I would usually forgo Stonehenge, get more cities up and running, and then shoot for the Oracle.

A note about the Lions. Barb animals will not enter your cultural boundaries.

After Bronze Working, I would go for Animal Husbandry if I were you, to tsee if you get Horses.

Cheers.

mm you got a point, but wouldn't it be a waste of turns if i canceled stone henge now ?

Yaeah is it worth it? I think so, free pops and your slowgroving cap seems to beg for it. Chopp it with the worker and then settle your half while looking for resourses preferrably metals.

Yes, it would be a waste of turns. You'll probably get Stonehenge first, so stick with it now you've started it. I think your goal now should be to grow Medina to size 2 asap and then build another worker. It will have to do for warriors and workers (and maybe even a settler) for now.

Note that once you have BW you can chop a forest or two in Mecca to speed Stonehenge up.

Cheers.

Thank you for the help and advice manu-fan :D

I'm gonna play the next few turns.

Not the best news I could have had, also my scout died :\
My workers started to chop down some forests and I started to research animal husbandry. Stonehenge is only 7 turns away, and itll probably spee dup after i chopped some forest.
