congrats, i just did the same! i got my first non-SG proper monarch victory. i got it with Catherine and an early cossacks powered domination. however, although on normal speed, vanilla cossacks are still overpowered so it doesn't quite count though. still a wonderful feeling.

Congratz, still remember my first Monarch victory with Shaka. Damn nice start with 3 gem mines in my BFC. Stayed tech master all game long. But after that I started to loose like 2 in every 3 games and I turned down a notch again to do a sort of ALC style and so far it is great fun.

Thanks all. I have flubbed my next several monarch starts but to be fair most were trying the settled GPs approach which failed, so probably too much. I do have a current one I am doing fairly well with, Cyrus on a Pangea map. Gold in capital fat cross, easy horses, but very far from anyone and far from iron. Built the GW (awesome for cyrus) but lack of close neighbors really nerfs Cyrus's trait so far. Techwise I am OK except for Hannibal but I am few turnd from liberalism. Actually got bored that I started another Prince game. Undecided whether I will finish before I get BTS.
