First thing you'll do

Do what I did with the original...start modding.

I am probably the only person on this board who has never actually played a game of civ 5 proper!

I have played a few turns to test out things, but have never played a proper game.

Test out the new espionage and religion features. Also see if teching the way vanilla does it still works, and how espionage plays into that.

I'll probably play a random civilisation and get dissappointed at not getting one of the new ones. Then I'll quit, agonise over which of the new civs to pick, play random again and get dissappointed again but this time continue the game in the hope of meeting the new civs.

Call in sick to work...

...for a week!!!

Heheh - I actually did that about a week after Civ V first came out. Don't know if my conscience would let me do that again.

I'm torn - the Renaissance scenario seems very compelling, but I'll probably start off with a campaign game, standard map, as either Sweden, the Celts or the Dutch.

Pick Ethiopia. Kick it into Deity.

Try to survive as long as possible.

(I'm more of a King/Emperor player)

Several games at Emperor level. Then if I can take it given the changes, back to Immortal.

AND HOPE THE GAME IS FUN AGAIN.

Well, knowing me as I do; I will probably start a half dozen games and play a hundred turns or so on each. By then, there will most likely be some tips/strategies posted on this forum. After spending half the day reading (instead of playing), I'll go back and play a full game. Maybe. I will probably try a new diplomatic victory first, but who knows.
