Man U and Arsenal have agreed terms for Van Persie, £24 million apparently. Shows what I know...
Really daft career move by Van Persie; h's gone from being the favourite of a prominent English club to being (most likely) their most hated ex-player. Winning a trophy or two (going to Man U) or being fondly remembered for decades (staying at Arsenal)?

I think that makes us favour for the title.
Well my source was a little too early! I wonder if it was just a fluke I imagine so.
No I think RVP made the right decison. Who cares about the aduleration of the fans? Now he increases his weekly pay massively, gets a massive signing on fee and now will get a cabinet full of trophies! Whilst before he was carrying Arsenal for years and was likely to do so till he got too old and is sent out to Ajax or somewhere.

I knew we'd lost Van Persie when the statement came out last month, but I'm surprised by the destination. He's lost all credibility in this move: he's really shown that he's all about the money. Its a shame because club loyalty was all he really had going for him in terms of personal qualities.
I don't really understand all the hate versus van Persie. If he had stayed another year, he would have left freely, this way at least Arsenal could get a nice price for him. I also understand that he doesn't want to stay at Arsenal.
He has yet to win a big title (the biggest thing he won was the UEFA cup with Feyenoord, a couple of months after his debut) and he isn't going to win one at Arsenal.
It is understood Van Persie was encouraged by the arrivals of Germany forward Lukas Podolski, France striker Olivier Giroud and Spain midfielder Cazorla - to the point where he was open to the idea of staying with or without a new contract.
But Wenger pulled him aside shortly before Sunday's friendly victory over Cologne, told him he would be sold if a deal could be reached and informed the Dutchman he was no longer part of his plans.
/Shudder Piers Morgan is unhappy about the move. This must be an unmitigated good thing![]()
I don't think ManU and Arsenal are rivals, ManU is playing for the title while Arsenal is playing for Champions League qualification. It's not the fact that he's moving on but the destination that irksome. If rumours are to be believed he was angling for a ManU move from the get go... I can't think of many clubs that would be happy with their captain forcing through a move to one of their biggest rivals.
When a major club fails to win anything for seven years, some of the blame has to be placed on their first choice striker.

I don't see how that is relevant. ManU has a team that can go for the title, Arsenal doesn't. RVP wants to play for a title, so he has got to leave.
