For Phil, Evana, and Other Interested Players: Try this Game! ^_^

OMG! LOL! ^_^ Why do you do that to my Cathy? ^_^

LOL... you moved the initial settler right next to the copper... pretty crap site though.

Now all you gotta do is to WIN! ^_^

Am I the only one who is determined to finish the first one? It's slow going thanks to the very tricky start but here's where we are at now:

Spoiler :

Just finished my second war with Toku, first a very brief rifle-grenadier-cannon one to take two cities (since I had the units after destroying Shaka), followed by industrialisation and a long inf-arty war to wipe him out. Near the end Genghis attacked, surprise surprise. He threw a fifty unit stack at Bulawayo but the city held out, just. Toku became GK's vassal for a few turns before his demise. Ragnar is still my buddy and has subjugated Alex. One-city Napoleon is still independant on his little island. :lol:

The game is functionally won unless Ragnar surprises me somehow, but once my conquering troops return from the Japanese campaign Genghis is toast despite his masses of level 5 units. Then I can win space or exterminate Ragnar if I'm feeling cruel.

^ Why thank you, sir. :D You know how it is - once you defeat the monster stack, these high unit prob AIs are just like any other. They generally just skulk in their cities and let you move around unopposed. I had to be as fast as possible because of the stinking AP cramping my style.
Spoiler :
Invasion of Genghis is underway. I'm not sure if his land will be enough for domination. Guess we'll find out.

Wow NihilZero... such an awesome job from a map that was actually intended as a joke... yet, you are really showing us how it should be played properly.

:bowdown:

@ Gwaja:
Spoiler :
You left us just enough space to get six (bad) cities, which means you can draft. If you can get a draft city with two decent food resources you can get a unit every turn for a long time, and that means you can usually break out of even the most horrible situation. The capital was strong enough to get that far, with rifles long before the beleaguered Shak could get them. Then once you have beaten somebody things become much more manageable.:D

Ulundi makes an awesome Heroic Epic city. 90 base hammers! :eek:

You have a knack for making fun maps, even the ones that aren't supposed to be serious. :p

One more for Gwaja and Cathy :D

..and..*puts on an AZ voice*..."look at this crap...WTH is this?!?"
Spoiler :

After Mehmed declared on him, Giggles took his sweet time to settle all this crap around me :)
Plan now probably has to be to get out some libraries (already did cottages), use Cathy's horses and do HBR for driving Giggles back. Hopefully he is stuck in that war for a bit longer.

@NihilZero,

Wow... just wow! I am speechless. So awesome! Thank you again! ^_^

@Mylene,

I hate you... why you gotta pick on my Cathy like that? Evil girl... ^_^

Seriously though, that Giggles is surely annoying. If you can get him before he gets longbows, that would be fabulous!

Spoiler :
I know Mehmed is also sorta boxed in to the west of Giggles, and given his build unit prob, he will most likely continue to be aggressive. That could be your saving grace!

I hope you beat this map. That way, I won't feel as guilty about handing you an evil map like that. I can be more evil. ^_^

Since NihilZero is obviously enjoying my evil map, I just came up with another map dedicated to him for even more funsy cakes. ^_^

Thank you for pointing out the flaws in the map for qualifying it as evil. Now I know some things:

1. No copper, no ivory, no horse, and no iron is a must.
2. Never enough room for 6 cities peacefully.
3. Tundra is overrated. Ice and deserts are more desired.
4. No gold, no gems, no silver EVER!
5. Definitely no stone and no marble.
6. Make capital as crappy as possible.
7. Non financial and non industrious leader
8. Absolutely no rivers!
etc. etc.

On a serious note, I would love to see your save sometime. Gives me a great tool for my studies of Civ 4. ^_^ It would be very much appreciated.

Just a quickie, raid soonish ;)
Making some progress with cleaning up Giggles.

No luxuries before i could trade for IW and calendar didn't make it easy, and Giggles defenders aren't fun either, but iam just gonna throw more and more Horses at him now that i have the hapiness to swing and swing the whip. No time for contruction, want to get to him while Mehmed is on it too.

Should end up with some nice land when it's all said and done, Julius declared on Boudi and Kublai on Julius, noone is riding away in techs.
Sorry Gwaja dear, but this looks winable now :D

GAH!

Well, your game is still far from over. ^_^

But at any rate, this is good. I was feeling guilty initially but not anymore. Not only did you kill off my Cathy, you are actually having some success!

This only tells me that I can never be too evil. You just wait... the cloud of doom is gathering, and it will soon rain down upon you. ^_^

On a serious note... great job with the map though! I would have quit long before and never would have looked back!

Lymond hasn't attempted this game yet! I am still waiting... Mr. Fake Chuck Norris promised me a good game! ^_^

ha...I have started it but I have several things going on. I'm very early in the game and just Oracled Alpha so that I can instigate some mischief with all these wardogs. Also, I'm in mourning after learning Wallace the Werebear was killed in Fall with Fleme.

also, this threads a bit confusing now since you started a game within a game.

I am actually reading up on those stories and it's quite interesting. Maybe I might get to them soon...

The chat room people want some autographs from Mr. Fake Chuck Norris. ^_^

Oh, and if you feel brave, feel free to join Mylene on the 2nd map I created for her... she is being a bad girl... killed my Cathy!!!

I might try the other map if I get the chance.

By the way, you can edit the tile of this thread to correct my name or us my forum name :)

I can't wait. ^_^

I am sure majority of the forum people don't even know who Evana is. But they sure know Chuck Norris! ^_^

But I can't get the title to be edited so that it shows up with a new title at the forum page.

Sure, here's a save...

Spoiler :
...from just before attacking Shaka. I'm not sure if this is the most ilustrative, but it's obviously the key moment as once I took Shaka's land I had a strong enough production base to take on Toku.

The key points were:

1) early diplo to befriend Ragnar (Shaka went WHEOOHRN before I could do anything);
2) knowing Shaka would attack and preparing a defensive stack in a walled hill city;
3) settled representation super-specialists in a wonderspammed capital for research;
4) pacifism for most of the game to get more GPP;
5) small empire which allows high slider due to low maintenance;
6) enough cities to get the globe and draft in a strong food site;
7) Steel from Liberalism and building cannon in the capital

I never bribed anybody to war. Bribed a few people to peace though, as Toku really kicked Shaka's ass and the latter would have capitulated. I got pretty lucky, Shaka was under a lot of pressure, lost cities, and at the point of this save is under attack again from Toku (had to bribe him out a second time) and Ragnar, so the timing was perfect. If that hadn't happened I would have attacked a little later with more rifles.

If there's anything else you want to know or if you'd like to see any other saves, just ask. :D

I finished it by the way. Killed Genghis and waited for border pops. I was then about .1 of a percentage short in land %. :lol:

The problem was that Alex still had a city in formerly Mongol lands, so I prepared to attack him and his master Ragnar. I also turned up the culture slider, though, and just before I was about to attack I won peacefully from flipping a tile somewhere. :p

Notice my stack about to strike.

And the inevitable unimpressive late-game score:
