Fox-20 -- The Harsh War

As we all know, we're in a nice position so let's just roll on shall we...

I'd lik to steal Feudalism but even with a 50% stationary bonus the best I can steal is Aesthetics. I think about Horseback Riding but stay put for now.

Our trebuchets make short work of Louis' longbows and Dijon is razed without loss.

Orleans is a tougher nut as it is on a hill and has some good defenders inside. We lose a trebuchet, catapult, gallic and two spears.

5 axes appear as partizans, which may be trouble for our forces. On a side note, we're now ahead of Louis in score :goodjob:

The partizans slink into the distance.

We are starting to get some serious WW, so I go to up the culture a bit, except we don't have Drama .

Hatty still only has archers to defend.

We don't lose any troops. 5 warriors spring up as partizans. Free XP all around.

Lyons is another bugger of a city on a hill with hundreds (read 10 or so) defenders.

One trebuchet is sacrificed for the greater Celtic good.

I start up Notre Dame for some reason.

Hatty is (hopefully) now down to 1 city.

This comes up last (10th) turn. Worth it? We don't really need the EPs for city revolts as the seige we have are OK. Equally don't need the tech.

Three trebs die here.

Axe partizans will kill our pike in all liklehood.

Machinery has pushed out to 57 turns for Louis so I don't think that will bother us. He has 5 cities left I can see and I noticed a HA escorting a settler out that I couldn't do anything about.

Hatty will be no more after 2 turns unless she has snuck another city out there.

We have a new stack ready to leave the homeland next turn as well.

This could concievably be over in 10 turns, 20 max.

Nice.

So in the end, you did nothing with our '50% bonus' spy as I could see him still inside the city ruins :)
I know we don't really need anything to win, but I would have tried to steal Feudalism (especially since we are researching it for the next 1500t or so!)

I think that feud is better.... in the improbable case that we need to push the game further , Guilds would be useful ;) And we don't SoZ now don't we?

BTW got It

Nice round.

Agreed that we should steal something 'cause we can.

No Drama eh? If the game was going to last longer than 20 turns.... but as it is I don't think we need it. WW should drop when Hatty falls.

Well, you know how AW games normally end, and this one was not a exception......

Razed cities.... BTW Blake , or anyone that matters, please stop with the AI settler spam when cities are razed. The hammers that the AI spends doing settlers would be far more useful for them if they used them to make a army. This way they only get a smaller and thinner army and cities with small cultural defense. It may be a PITA to clean, you know.... and it does not abide for the Inteligence in AI ;)

Louis surprised me in here... nothing that a treb and 2 axes can't clean

Oh , and a wonder ( probably the only non military building that we made this turnset )

BTW Blake, or anyone that matters, making wonders when there are 3 megastacks razing every city of yours is not a good idea IMHO

Save is avaliable upon request....

Well done, ppl.... I really didn't thought that we could clean the board so fast ( I was thinking on trying CRIII Guerrilla III Rifles or grens on cities ... Well ,next time maybe ). Congrats to all.

Next one, pls

Nice set there, r_rolo. :goodjob:

Great job, everyone. Another SG excellently played by a great team!!!

Well done rolo :goodjob:

It was a "harsh war", but not for us ...

I liked the interesting map -- it just turned out to be a little too ideal for our purposes. Thanks for the fun romp :)

Well, if you want a harsh map, I'll certainly could build one for you... :D

Well done ... excellent play by all.

Yeah, the map totally surprises me. It was so different from my previous Boreal experience. Conclusion is that the Boreal is highly unbalanced, resources are generally concentrated at the poles. We are lucky to start at the pole. If we had started at Monty's location, it will be a very different game. On the same note, no surprise Loius is our main competitor, but hatty is the one that disappoints me. Her starting location is as good as ours, yet the only reason she was one the last two AI survivors is because she is far from us.

Anyway, nice play, glad I'm back to SG arena ... stay tune, I'll start one more next week.

:lurking: great game. I allways enjoying a SG playing when in a roster is playing the wonderfull CIV mastermind GREYFOX :D :D

Thanks to the lurking and congrats :D

The next Fox game has started ... but not always war. Fox-20 players has priority sign up.
i red the thread allover by a link from rolo, liked it really, good harsh.
but i sorrow for you guys that you really couldn't enjoy high level infantries :P
