Fox06 -- Need For Speed

I actually disagree with leaving Shanghai ... we had already committed like 20 turns of catapult time there. The casualty will be high, but what the heck, we had too many units anyway ... it will reduce unit cost and gave us a breathing time to actually research CoL (CoL has a whole lot of requisite techs: Mysticism -> Polythesim -> PriestHood ... although Mediation is slightly cheaper, polythesim is more useful). Just make sure the general survives.

Otherwise the plan is good (but if we are going for Shanghai, then we need to produce some keshiks in one of the cities to replace some of the lost ones).

:stupid:

Ahem, I mean

:agree:

OK report time, well plan is laid out in posts above and yes we will aim to take Shanghai, Bangalore and Moscow whilst building / chopping Pyramids.

We will try and keep our economy in slight surplus and use Pillage Cash and Scientists to actually “do” research

Turn 1 Catherine has a galley, we want to kill her before she makes life difficult by sneaking a settler out.
cathgalley.jpg

We move to Assault Bangalore quickly before its culture grows or more archers appear plus we could use the cash urgently.
bamgalore.jpg

Turn2 we are lucky and take Bangalore with no losses (40% chance)
We pick off a stray Monty Archer
montystray.jpg

Which pops us a General to join the awaiting catapult (picking Accuracy this time to speed sieges)
ghreatgen.jpg

Turn 3 Shanghai is one of those strange drawn out sieges as our highly promoted Keshiks have good (70%+) victory chances but our low experience nearer 20%. This means whilst our top two attackers are winning it is worth them healing before carrying on the assault as our force advantage grows each time. This means Shanghai will take a while to take and explains why I played 11 turns as I needed to finish it off. Apologies…

oddsshanghai.jpg

Turn 4 Moscow falls with slight losses and we immediately have to delete lots of workers to keep our economy afloat. Not a situation I am used to!!
mosocw.jpg

Find Monty Sneaking a settler out, need to pick him off but ( you can't see ) he will get to a hill to settle next turn so this one costs us a Keshik unfortunately.
sneakymonty.jpg

Sailing comes in and not being sure what all this Mysticism - Polytheism Priesthood prerequisite advice I was getting from GreyFox was all about decide as we have writing we should just research it straight off.

Turn5 Forces advance towards Delhi, even with “speed” this takes a few turns.

Turn 6 Silly Old Gandhi
sillygandhi.jpg

Turn 7 Start long slow Bombardment at Delhi until our Accuracy cat arrives

Turn 8 Oh look Monty is building jaguars , these we can cope with !!
jaguarmonty.jpg

Turn 9 – 10 slow Delhi bombardment and we finally take Shanghai on turn 11.

EOT

Delhi should fall quickly
delhiarmy.jpg

Pyramids in 3
With Pillage Cash from Delhi we should get COL in about 10
We have a Great Scientist twiddling his thumbs who should probably Academy in Miramar
We have overwhelming force and can easily crush Monty once forces assembled!

personally, i'd much rather you play 11 and finish the goal. You knew what had happened the previous ten and could anticipate the next turn far better than the next guy up.

Also, I brought the scientist over to the capita. it's tied with miramar in beakers and might someday see beurocracy.

Great turns, all around. Did your battles end in Cathy's or Mao's deaths?

Um ... I thought we didn't have Priesthood ... but apparently we have :crazyeye:

I doubt we will see Civil Service, so either settle the scientist in Carbon or built an academy in Miramar (with Pyramids => Rep => Miramar will exceed Carbon in beakers output).

Riding Roster
-- Fox == Have fun with some Chinese babes
-- Rex == Spend all our money on Russian babes
-- Ralph == Kill off the Russian and chinese babes
>> Bede == UP for some Indian hacking
-- Berserks == Ready to saddle up
-- ChrTh == I still know how to play civ, me!

Did your battles end in Cathy's or Mao's deaths?

Both.. We just Have Delhi then Monty to deal with so I wouldn't discuss things like Civil Service overmuch as we can probably finish Monty in 25 ish turns. Once COL is in I wouldd switch science off and use any Pillage Cash left to support deficit spending from a larger Army.

Ralph

One other economic pressure we will need to manage is having enough cash to support retaining a western coastal city for the time it takes to build gallleys / trireme to ferry troops out to Monty's Islands as he seems to have at least 1 Island City.

It seems chepaer to me to keep Monty' capital for this than other options.

So a thought to consider is turning off the science slider now (we are break even at 0% science) and using only our soon to be representation fuelled scientists to finish COL off so we are building up a cash cushion for the final push vs Monty.

I think we'd be better off keeping Tlatelolco simply because it's closer (to the island, not us), and also because it has both copper and iron in its BFC (convert to Judaism to get them) so it'll have mucho hammers.

No I think Monty's capital is far superior because its sole purpose is to build ships and Monty's capital has 6 woods left in its BFC which with our fleet of workers = instant navy.

Ralph

 ... I can't grab it yet since I may have to play 20 turns in Where The Sun Doesn't Shine if Speedster doesn't produce the save.

I'll take it for tonite if no one's got it by then.

:splat:

I missed a turn without even a by your leave or a fare thee well. Dotage is setting in :old:

Been running from pillar to post the last couple of days and won;t get back to the 'puter till late tonight, please forgive me 'Fox.

Ah, right, so unsentimental of me! :hammer2:

Hope everything is fine with the pillars and posts ... (did your dogs need something to urinate onto, or you need something to vomit all the alcohol out?) ... :D

Do you want to be re-inserted after berserks? For if you don't, I fear the game will be over by the time it reaches you again.

Indeed kind of you Reynard the Grey (did you know grey foxes climb trees?) but I shall take my chances at the caboose position. So skip away merrily.

Ok, first things first, my personal objective

obj.jpg

Capture or found a city. Let's take a look around now .... Oh look, Delhi is primed for this task.

Civ4ScreenShot0000-2.jpg

Thanks. :goodjob:

We have alot of unimproved land, and look at these guys loitering around like a buncha idiots. So, I sent them off to work.

Civ4ScreenShot0001-1.jpg

Hmmm....on second thought, we have too many workers, I'm considering firing a bunch of them.

Pyramids came in, and I switched to Rep immediately.

Civ4ScreenShot0002-1.jpg

Captured and razed Delhi and fired the 2 captured workers there.

Civ4ScreenShot0003-2.jpg

I razed Delhi before noticing 2 workers roading there .... were we planning on keeping it? I heard no discussion about it, so if I'm mistaken .... sorry, I guess.

I probably won't be able to play for the next two nights (In-Laws in town), so GreyFox we can swap if you want to.

:dubious: Personal Objective??

Someone probably thought that workers can add happiness ... roading is good cos it means faster movement.

Delhi can be kept because it is food rich, we can probably whip a few galleys before we can capture Axtec capitol. But not significant, it doesn't matter.

I will pass the chance of playing to Bede ... giving him another 24 hours to change his mind on skipping to swapping.

Just took a look at the save, and I have only one question:

What the hell is that one stack waiting for?!? :gripe: Sheesh, keeping that large of an army immobile for one Keshik to heal? That's just WRONG!

Send those troops to the front line! They have dallied-dillied for too long!
