I played 10 turns as per the SG rules. Yeah, that means we're at war. I think the next player will have the honors.
To begin the set, I traded physics to Izzy for Steel + map + 70 gold. She wouldn't take it for just rifling. I fired the merchants and set the build to IW. Our last national wonder! Next turn, we finished electricity.
On turn 278, AP peace is declared between Izzy and Gilgamesh.
The next turn, Izzy suggests a DP. Intriguing... But I decline as JC has too much on his hands. Charlie has too much on his hands but there isn't much we can do about that one...
Turn 282 - I find that JC is no longer busy. I therefore sign a DP with Izzy in hopes that it'll keep Charlie away. I also complete researching refrigeration. I queue the supermarket after IW.
Turn 283 - I trade assembly line + rifling to Izzy for RR + map + 100. Yeah it's lopsided but she's going to be our defender now so we can't afford to have her be too backwards.
Turn 285 - the trumpts sound! Stupid Charlie is coming after us with a massive SOD. I bribe JC to war for Biology and get 30 gold. I also sell philosophy to Toku for 150. I set the build to a marketplace to make more gold and I turn off research. We have lots of troops to upgrade but I don't know if it'll be in time. I moved our guerilla2 troops on to the hill next to Munich and retreated all our other troops into the capital. I'm hoping Izzy or JC can save us in time...
That's 37 units ! Okay, considered that I've seen a stack from Shaka with more than 70 units this is puny. But I doubt we'll hold due to the massive amount of Flanking units he has. Maybe JC and Izzy come in time, that's our best bet...
We should had acepted DP with Izzy... maybe that could had bought some turns ( in my experience, AI tends to delay a Dow if the target makes a DP, just ot get some more units..... )....
The only hope we have is that Charlie get stupid and attack our infantry stack in the hills, and even then I bet that a lot of cavalry would survive to haunt us in next turn.... maybe JC gets in time to save the day... ( doubt it: AI tends to not help much in this situations.... )
@r_rolo1: read more carefully, shyuhe did indeed signed DP with Izzy.
I think we may yet survive this. Just keep upgrading our men to infantry or machine guns (and produce machine guns after the market). Remember to promote all our troops ... no point having unpromoted troops died while defending. We won't get to attack for quite a long while, so no sense leaving unpromoted units around.
Toku has some spare cash, sell him liberalism to fund one more upgrade.
JC may yet invoke the Apostolic Palace to stop the war. But read the resolution carefully. IIRC, it can't stop a multi-party war. It can only stop one war. So if it says "stop the war against Charle", vote "No". Because that means it will cause JC to make peace with Charle. If it says "stop the war against Izzy", vote "no". Because it means Charle will make peace with Izzy. The above two cases will cause us to be left alone at war with Charle. The only time we vote "yes" is twhen it read "stop the war against Fox08".
Well, not that it matters, JC controls half the vote anyway
By the way, with the merchants, Shyuhe!
Now, let's see who's unfortunate enough to be UP ....
Roster
-- GreyFox == Hammer and Cookie for HRE
-- Shyuhe == holding on to his pants >> Feedback == hmm .. perhaps it's better to be skipped?
>> Imhotep == UP, if you can post a Got It before FB
-- r_rolo1 == Sleeping with boss
-- pholkhero == busy pholking around God knows where
Now that I've got the joke out of the way, let me tell you guys I've gotten a kick lurking on this one. I'm a noob, so please forgive me if I'm wrong, but why the market? An "Oh, Crap" moment like this just screams for MGs.
@bestbrain: for the money. Since we are only 1 turn away of market, we should finish it to get the most out of it so that we can upgrade to more MGs or Infantries. I do agree an MG now would be great. @ joke
Oh crap!
The fun starts and I'm up and I cannot get it....
Well, Machine Guns won't help us much more than Infantry-men because he has only 4 Cannons and about 20 cavalry. Trebuchets doesn't count anymore. I hope JC helps us either way. I just don't know if he can make it on time.
Good luck, legendary builder...
@The Conquerer: if I still rock, but am not a teen anymore, should I put this on my already crowded sig?
Timmy, you are getting dangerously close to the 24hrs-from-FB's-skip-notification mark. Comeon, don't chicken out! It's at most a lost at Immortal OCC, nothing to be ashamed of.
Ah, forgot about that game entirely. Had a tremendous SP game to finish yesterday, with a bloodfest war needing 60% luxury rate to cover the WW. But I put an end to Joao and won the game via Domination in 1972 AD for 27015 points, my second best BtS performance so far. Anyway, I'll try to squeeze the turns into the weekend somehow.
I would, but unfortunately I seldom take screenies from my SP games. If you're interested I can provide you with some saves though. Surely you could beat my finishing date.
Well, it sure was a great game . Kudos to the GreyFox for setting this up, Fox07 and Fox08 have taught me a lot about OCC. I never thought you could compete on such high levels, but we've done really great in both games. However, if an Immortal AI comes after you with a determined attack there is nothing you could do about it. So let's get it over with.
As adviced, I sell Liberalism to Gilgamesh for some crap and 70 gold. This lets us upgrade at least one Rifle to an Infantry.
Chuck decides not to attack, but moves into the wood - he wants some more Airship action before dealing the blow. Bastard !
He finally attacks next turn. Our mountain rangers are battered to dust as his Flanking Cavalry rides wave after wave. We're toast. Here is the situation:
This potential ass saver comes one lousy turn too late. The war will definitely stop next turn regardless of the resolution - as we're dead anyway...
Chuck decides not to attack but rather bombards - fool ! The city holds therefore, and the AP resolution comes in:
Yikes ! We live ! That was close indeed as the city wouldn't have made it for another turn or two. Great luck too that the right resolution came up just in that moment - three turns later it was the one with "Stop the war against Isabella" ...
We get a good event:
Yes, another +3 with Izzy !
Bad news for all out there:
JC will field units with 2 more XP now...
No tough call on that one as Izzy is our friend and Gilgamesh is not. Besides, we only had OB with him.
We get a Prophet. Rather than building the Shrine I settle him as our Confucianism isn't widely spread. The hammers and the gold will be better.
You thought Chuck's stack was scary ? Well, look what he has to face now...
Glad JC is coming after him ...
The resolution I mentioned earlier passed (and Chuck was voting NO ! What an idiot !), and so Izzy is back to peace. I therefore got the DP back again.
We traded Clams for Silk also. After Superconductors came in I built the Lab and set research to Medicine. We need the health badly and of course it is needed for the Space Race anyway. I don't think we'll have time for the Redentor as some AI have Radio already. JC is hitting Chuck very hard. His monster SoD marches along, and cities fall like flies. He captured Mainz and the Jewish Holy City of Prague just after 5 turns of war. Have fun guys, we're still in the game !
As for my bad joke - I guess the opening of the report counts as one !
Imhotep

We're alive !!! When I read you first paragraph I already knew it ( no one annouces defeat like that , dear Egyptian Engineer ) ......
Now we have to build our SS and our army... how are we going to do that? And by the way we should try to prolongate this JC - Charlie issue by any feasible way. Ideas?
We already anwsered that one.... the response was something like " Wait for the AP resident ( JC ) to call a vote to stop the war with JC and JC votes yes "
