Fox10 - The Real Thing

Fox uses GIMP ( he already told it somewhere else... Guerrilas in the midst, wasn't it ? The red light effect.... )... clumsy interface, but as good ( or better in some regards) as Photoshop . I also use it for a long time, but simply don't have the patience to edit pictures like that ( I make amateur video editing... simply don't have the patience to do it all over again for a SG report... )

Regarding the game..... Refrrigeration would give us a little more food and ( the important stuff ) a extra move to sea based units. Rocketry gives SAM.....
In spite of all those Airship stuff is  , Refrigeration now seems better

And that GG.... do we still have a mace or a quechua around? A CR3 unit with high strength would be useful....

We have CR3 tanks. A CR3 infantry is inferior... The carrier with fighters should be able to sail around the world to destroy any airships. Plus, SAM can't deal with infantry.

Well , I somehow forgot the tanks :hammer2: ..... maybe doing another gorilla 3 unit would be sound, for those cities in hills.... A commando tank would be cool , but requires a lot more XP than that

Err.... guys, if you could change research from Rocketry to Refrigeration from my save, by all means ... but I bet you can't. ;)

Cause it is already learnt.

my report said:
This marks the learning of Refrigeration (giving us +1 movement), and I stopped here. I tentatively selected rocketry. I think this is the best path.

yes , I use gimp.

I use a free program for my pics...Its called Irfanview. I open the pic, crop selection, rezize, and save. Been using it so long, I can do a pic in 10 seconds now.

Lurker's comment:
Note that Irfanview also has a batch mode of operation (press "B"), which can convert, resize, crop and reimage an entire directory full of images in one go.

...which results in crappy pictures on my system... :(

Gentlemen, this game is officially in the bag. But first my joke (beware, it's a nasty one. Don't read if you're easily offended or have a sensitive stomach):

Spoiler :
A veterinarian visits a patient at home. The dog of the client suffers from colonic spasms. The vet says: "Okay, we must do something to take the pressure away." So he sticks a tube into the dog's a$$ and tries to pull the air out of it with lung power. Unfortunately the vet has severe bronchial problems, and so he asks the client to do it. The client says "Okay", takes the tube out of his dog, flips it, in sticks it in the other way round. Then he inhales deep... The vet says "Why did you do that ?" The client says "Surely I won't take the end you had in your mouth..."

Back to the game.

Our opponents are no match for us. We razed Shaka's SoD...

91846663oq3.jpg

...and his capital. Here i made a weed move. I clicked to fast and lost Woodie to a Cav. I apologize deeply.

23258467en6.jpg

Our Flotilla had its first combat. I had reinforced it and sent it out after Gilgamesh. Here we razed size 15 Kish with amphibious assault, not losing a single unit.

83310107cu2.jpg

The next of his big cities followed...

93946089fc3.jpg

No AI is close enough in tech to trouble us...

12709139lf7.jpg

The next player will have fun. The Flotilla is at Ur, bombarding and air raiding. The stack should move north and raze it.

Another victim next turn:

93542279as5.jpg

And another:

87467677vv6.jpg

From here on its simply downhill and having fun. We got a GE on my last turn, I did not use him yet. After Rocketry came in (which was my stopping point) I chose Democracy for UniSuff. We won't need any research in this game any more.

Imhotep

I'm not sure we don't need research anymore, since India and Zulu were fast enough to match our infantries. I would suggest going for gunships. Why would we want UniSuff???? Is that your "better" joke to counter that "nasty" joke in the beginning?

Saw that you pillaged some roads in the last couple of turns ... generally not a good idea as we may want to use those roads ourselves later.

If we are at +1 food (or -1 food), then supermarket is okay. Else a waste of hammers.

But generally good play!

r_rolo1 is UP, cabledawg on deck.

imhotep - like your colour scheme - nice and dark

@GreyFox:

No AI has Electricity yet. Their research will drop to nothing the more we raze. Already we are second in score, after the next player has razed Ur we will be the top dog. The only AI still teching are Gandhi and Gilgamesh. They now get hammered by our stacks, which are razing their way towards each other. Hammer and anvil. I don't see any AI being a factor from now on. Of course Democracy is weed as we have the Pyramids anyway. I'd suggest Radio instead (Cristo Redentor !). UniSuff is for rush buying of course, we don't need beakers anymore. The pillaging of roads was accidental - I pillaged a Town with the whole stack...

@ruff:

Thanks to you :) . I can send it to you if you want...

Imhotep

HAve we finished upgrading all of our ships? Until we finish that, I don't think we'll be rush buying any time soon. I'm slightly uncomfortable with the idea of turning off research already but if we're going to take that path, we should convert our specialists to priest/engineer slots too. And settle the GE. We're still a ways from producing one turn units so hammers help.

Didn't we get a GG in our last set? We can make a woodie replacement for the Shaka SOD. Also, we will probably need to ship some transports over to Gandhi territory to start attacking his island cities soon. I agree that this game is going into mop up mode though :) Have we seen a SoD from the Sumerians yet? That's the only thing I'd worry about - and Churchill may have a small SoD as well.

I would not worry much with Churchill: the best thing that he can throw us for a long time will be are redcoats and infantry pwns redcoads.... Gilga OTOH is near Assembly line.

I agree with fox regarding going to Unisuff: i don't think that it would have great use for us... and I would really like to have a escape valve if someone manages to resume teching somehow

And Btw ... got it

@Fox

Can't miss the end of this one (regardless RL - addiction sign :twitch:), I'll appreciate getting back on the rosty after cabledawg turn.
Please :D :hatsoff:

I'll manage getting it done outside my personal life - at work ? :mischief:

Sure, welcome back pawelo.

My feeling is rush buying is not pausible in this game, we don't have that much money in an OCC. If we really want to switch civics, Police State is the way to go. But I would prefer razing cities with MAs and MIs :D

I agree with Shyuhe -- forget abt wonders. GE should be merged ... Let's keep pumping units and further tip the balance and bring this babe home.

--

I'd use the GE to rush Cristo Redentor - but then I'm a wonder addict :D . It doesn't matter anyway which way we take now - as the game is clearly won things become matters of personal taste...

@GreyFox:

We have piled 1500 gold in my 13 turns @ 30% research, and most of the times I was running a deficit...so of course rush buying could be done with running all merchants. But I will not insist on this one, either way is fine with me.

Imhotep

The problem with rush buying is that we will have to sink hammers in for 1 turn before rushing (to avoid the penalty). At that point, we'll be able to finish the unit naturally... Of course it'll make the overflow go to the next build but I doubt we'll be rush buying very frequently. Maybe some ships? Or fancy carriers + fighters

Sorry for the delay, but my internet connection decided to take vacations yesterday night....

Not much to say, really.... Decided to continue teching ( by the already posted reasons ) and trailed by the Radio -> Satellites path ( unlocks both Advanced Flight and Composites... IMHO is the best tech path that we can follow now ). I played until Radio is in ( units unmoved ):
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0001.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0022.jpg

We razed most of the cities in the W of the Indian Sumerian continent ( they looks to be steaming out... ). I'll not show all the razings ( this partisan mechanic is completely bugged: 4/5 infantries from a pop 2 city? ), but just to give a idea of the fights, we managed to get another GG:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0021.jpg

Still unused...in this stage a warlord is not that important anyway.

Now the map of the world in the end of turnset:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0000.jpg

Clearly India and Zulu are no issues at this point ( as Ethiopia already were ). Now we should point the big guns to the remaining Sumeria and England, after destroying the civs that know how to make infantry.

Tech tree
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0027.jpg

Just compare with Immy's post... AI research is virtually stalled. In fact , IMHO the partisans are draging their finances down.....

Now some tactical advice:

We have currently 3 stacks, 2 naval ones and one land based:

1st naval stack: Currently near the W tip of Indian Sumerian continent. Seriously depleted due to a cav attack when attacking one of the Indian island cities, and preparing to erase a ex-barb city captured by Gilga partisans. This stack should be reinforced from the nearby land stack, erase the indian and Zulu southern island cites and move towards Gilga's eastern cities throught the ice openings
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0023.jpg

2nd naval stack: coming from razing shaka's cities in the north... recently reinforced with arties and heading to england. We should use this to start cracking England ( the nearest city ( air recon ) has 2 CG II Drill I redcoats, a wall and it is in a hill )
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0025.jpg

Land stack: currently near the W tip of Indian sumerian continent, after cleaning up the W half of it. This stack should cede some units to the above quoted naval stack and move to the remaining Gilga cities in the east ( after clearing those pesky Indian partisans right next to them , of course )
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0024.jpg

No log... too big to post

Now the joke
Spoiler :
I love the glance screens in AW games:
Civ4ScreenShot0028.jpg

The stupiest part doesn't appear: some civs are pissed with eachother due to heavy espionage stuff ( like Gandhi vs Gilga ). simply don't understand why they didn't tried to land a spy in our city :crazyeye:

Got it. Great turns Rolo. The England stack still has some nicely promoted Riflemen and Grennys. Im gonna slowly trickle 1 transport at a time back home to get them upgraded.
