Fox10 - The Real Thing

Pawelo: They say the best way to learn is to get your hands dirty ....

Arrrgh!

You got me in (if it's ok with you of course).

I justify it to me with a 'it's only an OCC' statement. :D

Edited the roster.

You know what that means right, don't you?

I am after you.

Anyway, I just realized that snaky continents is archipelago :crazyeye:, so I'd asked Ozzy to use his own creativeness and use either fractal or hub or whatever. The idea is to have AI's distributed on a handful of elongated landmasses while we are on a reasonably sized island.

--

Poor pawelo ;) ..... at least he didn't had you after him in his first SG as I did :gripe:

The map idea looks good enough..... a long continent means that we can block AI fleets easier and it will make the clean up smoother

I think the scout will be of great use to us

Looks interesting.

Thanks to the Birdy of Oz ...

Looks like a settle on the spot, worker first while getting fishing. The interesting question is what next after fishing. Since Huayna starts with Mysticsm, a poly push might be doable, esp considering we are financial. Get us an early religion to start things off.

The other approach is of-course to go mining BW, and masonry, standard OCC push for pyramids.

I'd go religion then BW & Masonry.
Still, being a rookie who can't differ a scout from a quechua, I'll stay in the shadows for 20 posts or so...

@Oz

 Good one though ;)
Too bad you don't play this one.

Normally I dont go for a religion in a OCC, but in this case, I think I would. We start with AG, so the worker will have something to do.....mining will follow after fishing and we have bare hills to mine, so he should be able to keep busy.

Are we gonna try for a CS sling or MC sling?....if we go for a CS sling...were gonna need a Library sooner rather than later.

I'd opt for abandoning the religion (it's basically just +2 happy with a Temple and +10% research with a Monastery) and head Mining => Masonry ASAP. The 'mids are crucial, so we better get a headstart as we don't know who's out there. And...well, I'm obsessed with that pointy thing (if I may quote the GreyFox here  ). Surely Professor Freud would have a thing or two to say to that... ;)

Imhotep

Sigmund Freud has a thing or two to say about everything ... hmm ... maybe he will have something to say about that as well :crazyeye:

Anyway, here goes:

Fishes, clams, fishes, wheat, and a useless wine. Pretty standard run-of-the-mill OCC location. The hut gave us a pretty useless pop:

That must be a joke. A scout on Alcatraz??? For what?

Once fishing is in, I contemplated on getting a workboat first. But since it is quite a few turns more (almost twice as much), I sticked to worker.

Despite what Imhotep says, I think the extra happiness would be good, allowing us to delay globe a bit. So, I go for poly next. Plus it is on the way to Priesthood for oracle anyway.

However, some turns later, Buddhism is found in a far away land.

This give me a bit of worry, since we are working on the wheat, we are not using the financial trait to sped up poly. So, I switched to working on the clams for 3-4 turns. This slows the worker/workboat down, but it get us poly earlier:

I stopped here (haven't revolted yet, no hurry), but tentatively selected Mining next. The worker has nothing to do. So has the scout. So they told each other a joke:

Spoiler :
An enormously wealthy 65-year-old man falls in love with a young woman
in her twenties and is contemplating a proposal.

“Do you think she’d marry me if I tell her I’m 45?” he asked a friend.

“Your chances are better,” said the friend, “if you tell her you’re
90.”

Ozzy also has gave us a joke: a jungle in our BFC???

Might i suggest we play longer turns. Our BFC expanded and we didnt meet anyone, itll be alot of pressing enter. Either that or we could give extensive reports on what the quesha is doing to the scout every turn.

Quesha..."You know, were gonna be here for awhile and you should know that I have both male and female genatalia"

Scout......"Whats that supposed to mean?"

Quesha..."If you wanted to have sex with me, you totally could"

Scout......"Dude, thats nasty...Im not having sex with you"

Quesha..."Ok, Ill be here if you need me, or you want to touch something"

Scout....."Youre a freak"

I played 23 turns up to 2500 BC or turn 60. As Cabledawg said it was mostly press Enter, but I had some interesting moments too.

First one was a nice event. Those Clams are now 4F4C  !

I was practically working the seafood whenever possible to grow faster and get more commerce for speeding up those initial techs. After Mining came in i chose Priesthood as the Oracle seems the more critical wonder in terms of getting it.

Before we hit the happy cap at 5 (quick enough with all this food) I refvolted:

One figure that will surely change during this SG...

Cuzco at the end of my set:

If you notice the build queue you'll see that the Oracle is 1 turn from finishing. I switched to the 'mids then, 29 turns currently. As I think that a MC sling is the safer route I've set research to BW, we'll only need Pottery after that for taking MC with the Oracle.

Pretty good choice. I agree on the MC sling, better to get forges up.

The forest on the hill will have to be chopped for pyramids.

We should probably apply the whip once for one more workboat, and perhaps granary/barracks once BW is in to overflow into pyramids.

Mediation is a probably a necessary evil to get one more happy.

I think 20+ turns is a good enough length if you are confident of the teching and production path. Play less if you are not. As in Fox09, I prefer to stop at decision point rather than fixed number of turns.

Finally, WHERE IS MY JOKE?
