Free speech for Fascists but not anti-fascists?

Thanks TF, it means a lot to me (and I'm sure many others) that this forum is prepared to take a stance against rascist organisations.

:worshp:

Well SZ, if you feel the urge to create your own forum for your flames, I won't stop you.
I sure hope that the action made by TF is a guideline for any racist organisation that shows up here, not just the BNP.

I think that answering politely to offensive ideas is always an option. The dumber the message, the easier it is to find a proper response.
That's what I thought too in the beginning. But it doesn't seem to work. Some people just can't withstand the need to flame in such a case, which is a bit understandable.

Next troubling point: where to put the line? Is a defender of Le Pin allowed? Het Vlaams Blok (Belgian)? Lijst Pim Fortuyn (Dutch)? The last one is nationalistic, but certainly not racist. Vlaams Blok is a decent party looking at the surface, perhaps racist (I don't know).

Matrix: perhaps the 'doesn't answer' thingy can be used as a way to judge: vote BNP and John Wayne never answer to critical replies. I'd say: ban them for trolling! If they do not wish to discuss - byebye!

The 'line' is an extremely difficult one to draw. It can be a valuable discussion, for example, to talk about racism and political parties that espouse it in a mature way.

The reason why OT can be so fine: Discuss anything with those you disagree with! Just don't troll or flame!

no i'm not one to start a forum to talk behind someone's back, however its pretty funny and its ****ing sad that people do that  oh wow! lets go make a forum and talk about someone behind their back! gee golly, i'm sooooooooooo big.

Anyone for tangents? :hmm:

SunTzu, I would not normally reply to your trolls, but since you are having a go at a forum I am helping to run I fell the public need to know at least some of the truth.

The forum you are refering to was set up to play PBEM games. If you had bothered to check you will find that our of 5000 posts only a handful refered to CFC at all.

Those posts that did refer to CFC were made 2 months after the site was set up, and after a few thousand posts.

This dispels your claim that this forum was started "to talk behind someone's back". These silly claims were also made by Immortal when he departed CFC upset over the stuff with AoA, in an attempt to make our site look bad (in fact it just gave us more publicity, and quite a few CFC members that read the material agreed with much of what was said, and with AoA not moderating at CFC anymore).

Comments were made on our forum by members, about people at CFC. We have not been judged to have broken any CFC rules, and the bans we recieved from AoA were made the evening of his departure and removed within 24 hours by Thunderfall. I stand by all of our members actions, we did nothing wrong, this has been proven out by Lefty and TF viewing full copies of the threads and not issuing bans.

We have shown great restraint by not responding to your pathetic comments on CFC, I suggest you stop trolling and flaming now before you get banned, and before you make yourself look anymore rediculous.

so i'm trolling by telling everyone what kind of punks you are to make threads on an INTERNET FORUM to talk behind people's backs, sad.

i look ridiculous? your the one who looks sad and pathetic making threads on an internet forum to talk behind someone's back, what a loser you are

I have restricted the Vote BNP account yesterday and told him to come up with a better nick. Also, we will no longer allow any promotion of BNP here since many UK posters find it offensive.

now we're back on topic I would like to say a big thank-you to TF for realising just how offensive a BNP username is. :goodjob:

Thanks a lot TF for your stance on racism and a wise decision about BNP posters.

I think this thread has achieved it's goal, and I salute Rick3 for bringing it to light.
