Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I'm 100% sure i've read them all (DG, MTDG and ISDG, and it still says unread posts available)

it's an option when starting a poll "allow multiple choice" or something.

Is there a time limit for unread threads? I mean I'm sure I didn't read all the threads, but some of them, which are a older are marked as read.

And no, they are not older than the change to the databse system, when I marked all posts as read.

IIRC it stops when your last session ended.
That was the old system.

By looking around the forums i never post in, it might be close to 4 days aproximatley.

If you rename a unit, do you need to change anything in the txt files?

Edit: Ooooops....... wrong thread!

Can someone move this to the proper FAQ thread?

.

Why don't you just repost it in the correct thread? That would probably be easiest.

@Mirc - I think it's 10 days. That's a figure I remember TF saying. But it might be from the first time we went to the DB system.

I think it's ten as well. I always have some threads in my User CP that I never read, and they disappear after awhile (but they're always right back!).

Is there any thread with the history of the site?

In a nutshell.

In the Good Old Days... said:
In the beginning, CivFanatics was a small personal homepage hosted by Geocities (1998) and then at Xoom (1999). The old site title was Civilization Fanatics' Page, part of the Thunderfall Impressions site. After we moved the site to Strategy Gaming Online in March 2000, the site was renamed to Civilization Fanatics' Center. The CivFanatics site you see today really started after the move because server space is no longer a problem. We didn't have a downloads section and forums before the move.

Yeah, I've noticed since that after one of the upgrades (I think 3.5), or maybe just coincidentally, some of the threads here in SF that were on my bookmarks because there was some information there I found interesting were suddenly not working.

I swear I just saw one poster's post count change before my very eyes. Atlas14 has 2,224 or something like that, but as I was scrolling down it changed to the last two numbers changed to 30. Is this possible or am I smoking? :smoke:

Well, if you post a post via the quick reply, then scroll up to one of your previous posts, you can see yourself with two different post counts, but what you are describing...

You might be :smoke: . ;)
