Correct me if I am wrong but Armageddon affects only living units. And Avatar of Wrath too.

I just realized that Luchuirp are second race best adjusted to AV and world destruction. :D

This has come up before. The Wiki, Civilopedia, and popup are wrong that say the Avatar takes ONLY living units.

Angels and Catapults, for example, will be in the mix. Only heroes are not included.

When the counter hits 100, though, apparently heroes are included, but this time living units are not.

The references have been wrong going back several versions.

I think that the way the Avatar currently works is that he only converts the living units that he captures, but his arrival corresponds with 60% of all the worlds units (including non living ones) gaining the Enraged promotion, giving them a chance to turn barbarian on their own (and any unit with a chance to turn barbarian will turn barbarian immediately if you try to disband it). I think that either World units or units with the Hero promotions were made immune form turning barbarian (more from people complaining about an Asylum making their Losha Valas or Govannon turn barbarian than from complaining about Wrath, since its mechanism changed in .30)

And yes the Wiki is way out of date. Some I've found things in it that weren't accurate since before I started playing, back in "light"

That's it. And I feel that Enraged is gained by 80-90% of units sooner then 60%. But maybe I was unlucky.

I remember with 0.23 I survived Armageddon and then immediately conquered standard-size world with my only remained Saverous. There were many roads but few units. And in last game all my demon units survived.

So If golems are not affected then Luchuirp are really formidable post-armageddon fighters.

Does anyone know which tech allows city trading?

I just have to ask...

Is anyone else who plays games on huge/large maps with a lot of civs finding the game just takes forever between turns, especially when you play on Epic or Marathon?

Really, in my Epic and Marathon games I am quitting just because I cannot stand waiting 3-4 minutes between turns, especially when my turn only takes a few seconds.

Just for fun, I played well into a .25 game using the same game settings. I wasn't seeing these long delays between turns.

I have a decent machine with plenty of memory.

Anyone else experiencing long delays between turns?

Any ideas on how to speed things up?

Thanks.

Yes, that's why I stopped playing on the huge maps. Typically I will stick with standard or smaller sizes now, but sometimes I'll venture up to large. The end game on huge maps just tried my patience a little more than I can bear.

yeah, especially as end game often degenrates into a bit of a click fest ending turns, as it tends not to be as dynamic as the middle stages, which are probably the most fun. I have no idea how people who like to win through builder strats don't die of boredom. I played one game of Sidar and went for an Altar victory. That's a few hours of my life I want back

The other problem with large maps is the logistics of troop movement - civ doesn't have any intellgient vectoring or anything for automatically moving produced units, which is a shame as it wouldn't take much. If warring late in the game the amount of time spent just moving troops around drives me nuts. I'd love to be able to assign a city to autoproduce a unit type (can do) and to automatically send them all to city X, which would be somewhere on my war frontier.

A question from a tech-challenged loser...

Would getting more memory help stop these 3-4 minute wait times between turns using huge maps? I am having to abandon yet another .30 game that is really good simply because I hate waiting that long to make my moves in only a few seconds.

I now have 2gb RAM, 256mb nVidia, and 3400+ processor.

Do you think going up to 2gb RAM would solve this problem, or has the game just become too much for the huge maps?

Thanks

Don't know yet. Getting a new comp soon with more then 2gb RAM. But more then 2 GB RAM won't do you any good if your still running windowsXP.

I'm sorry, I meant to say adding another 2gb RAM to get a total of 4gb.

Yes, I am using XP. Vista just isn't that popular yet here in Thailand and if you buy a new PC you will likely get a pirated, unsupported version of it. That's why I am sticking with XP for now.

I have a Dual Core processor back in the US with Vista. I was using .25 then and didn't have the long wait times. 2gb of RAM and 256mb video card there too.

Additional memory is a cheap option here, Vista is not. I was hoping it would help, but I guess I will have to dial back my games to smaller maps. :(

windowsXP has trouble recognizing and handling more then 2GB of RAM.

Oh, I'm glad you told me this! Dell sold me a 'special' deal and I upgraded my memory to 3 GB. I thought I installed it correctly and I was wondering why it always said I had 2 GB!

Best wishes,

Breunor

you found it out in about the same way as I did.
But Vista can handle up to 8 GB.

I thought I would put this here instead of in the Bugs thread because it has been a while since I played a civ with the Arcane trait.

I am playing Sheaim/Tebryn Arbandi.

After getting a Mage Guild, I quickly built 3 Adepts. I must say they accumulated XP very quickly. However, they seemed to hit the wall at 30. Two of them have been stuck there for close to 200 turns (Epic game), while the third has a bit more because I used him to kill a few barb Goblins.

Is there a limit on 'free' XP under Arcane? Do I then have to upgrade the Adepts to Mobius Witches or Conjurers to get it going again?

Thanks
