Frequently Asked Questions

The calabim like it when you treat people poorly.

Duh. Anything that has 'evil' by it's name sympathizes w/ cruelty.

Different signs? I prefer an explanation from the horse's mouth, thanks anyhow.

You get manes for evil units/ citizen that die.
And OO is evil.

I can't say for sure, as it's been too long since I played AV/summoned Hyborem, as I made a major, personal overhaul and re-balance of civics a while ago, especially in regards to religion-specific civics.

But OO isn't evil. Cruel maybe, but not 'evil' :p

Public healers requires a good alignment, while Slavery requires OO. Since OO turn any good aligned civ neutral, this combination is impossible.

Great mod. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it's possibly exploitable (I just did it in a game).

When you have a conjurer/summoner/whatever on a ship that has free space, and you summon a creature, that creature CANNOT attack that turn (so it's useless if you aren't a summoner personality).

HOWEVER, if you summon a creature with a caster on a full ship, that summon can attack that turn (and capture cities etc, although sometimes this is buggy in that some units won't attack at some times, I'm not sure why).

I'm not sure which is the "correct" behavior is.

Is there an ETA on the Shadow release?

"When it's done..." ... as per the old software developer's mantra?

One of the devs (I think it was nikis) indicated that the 4 stages of FFH correspond to the seasons, meaning roughly that Shadow may be released on or about this coming fall.

Some friends and me wanted to start a new FFH2 game via Pitboss.
So I did prepare everything to start, but on the new game screen I got the problem, that only 2 bad civics are visible on the pitboss generated drop down list.
It seems like pitboss uses a max number of 16 civics to select from.

Have anyone of you encountered that problem and solved it?

Or is this the reason, why there are no FFH2 Pitboss games played?

Is there an easy way to change the default map settings when you start a new game? I always like to play random climate and random sea level, and the default always switches back to temperate and medium, if memory serves.

Thanks.

Civ 4 wasn't made to do it.
Still, here's how to do it:
Open CivilizationIV.ini (there's a shortcut called _Civ4Config in your civ 4 directory). Find
Code:
; Sealevel options are SEALEVEL_LOW/SEALEVEL_MEDIUM/SEALEVEL_HIGH
SeaLevel = SEALEVEL_MEDIUM

; Climate options are CLIMATE_ARID/CLIMATE_TEMPERATE/CLIMATE_TROPICAL
Climate = CLIMATE_TEMPERATE
SEALEVEL_MEDIUM and CLIMATE_TEMPERATE may differ. Replace them with garbage, or nothing at all. It has to be an invalid value so the game can't load the setting from here.

Next open GlobalDefinesAlt.xml in the mod directory. At the end but before </Civ4Defines> add
Code:
	<Define>
		<DefineName>STANDARD_SEALEVEL</DefineName>
		<DefineTextVal>SEALEVEL_RANDOM</DefineTextVal>
	</Define>
	<Define>
		<DefineName>STANDARD_CLIMATE</DefineName>
		<DefineTextVal>CLIMATE_RANDOM</DefineTextVal>
	</Define>

Now when you start the game you will get two error messages. Just click ok, as far as I can tell they have no negative impact on the game.

Hi,
Need help please : version 1.74 doesn't work for me.After successfull installation of the 1.74 patch i can't run the game anymore... i doubleclick Civ4 icon and nothing happens...Tried to install 23c on this and it didnt' work either :(
so my question is - Can I install 23c on vanilla 1.61 or it works only with 1.74 ?

thanks

The mod is done for 1.61, you do not need 1.74. There have been reports that it works on 1.74 without problems so you may want to investigate it.

I must say I havent tried yet to run 'vanilla' FfH on the patch yet, still playing AoI and the space mod :)

I've mostly stuck with Rhye's since BtS arrived, so I can't speak to 1.74 compatibility either.

it works with 1.74.
However you need the newest direct x version.

1. Only with worldbuilder. :)

2. You must play for Clan of Embers. It is an ability of Witch Doctor (orcish adept) as i remember.

thanks. the pedia could use this info!

Another one, I have the techs for elegy of the sheaim or Elohim but I don't see them in the world projects, why? (I see purge the unfaithful and nature wrath though)

Well, you can't build the Elegy of the Sheaim unless you're playing as the Sheaim, and you can't build the Hallowing of the Elohim unless you're playing as the Elohim... :mischief:

Well, you can turn volcanoes back into ordinary mountains with the Sanctify spell.

All of the Clan's Arcane units can build barrows (except heroes like Hemah which aren't usually theirs. Actually Hemah can't even build mana nodes)
