Frequently Asked Questions

i thougt only the empire bonuses (such as +1 health from Life mana) are an effect of more than 1 mana... what effect has the ownership of 2 or more manas of same type (with no empire bonuses)? stronger casts?

1)
Units with affinity for that mana gain +1 to strength for each.

2)
2 mana of a type: free lvl one for all new adepts, newly promoted mages or archmages
3: free lvl 2 for newly promoted mages or archmages
4:free lvl 3 for newly promoted archmages

3) The already noted empire effects to maintainace, happiness, ...

Close, but not quite.

Units with affinity gain + x strength for each source, where the integer x is defined for the unit or promotion that gives affinity. It is usually 1, but Yvain and Aureales have double that.

The free promotions are given out to any unitcombat_adept unit with the right channeling promotions. Thus it also includes those units UUs, as well as arcane heroes like Govannon, Hemah, Gibbon, and Gaelen. Since it in in the onUnitCreated call and not onUnitBuilt, you can add unitcombat_adept summons that will get these benefits as soon as they are summoned. I always make Djinni unitcombat_adept and give them channeling I and II so they start out with mage spells. If you add channeling promotion to the Lich's unit defines then Lichdom will give them free mana based promotions too.

What is the difference between this, Fall Further and Fall Further Plus? Is there any particular one that I should start with?

Oversimplifying everything, this is how it is...

Fall From Heaven is the main mod.

Fall Further is a modmod of Fall From Heaven, which has recently branched off into its own mod (essentially). Fall Further adds many new features.

Fall Further Plus is a modmod of Fall Further, which adds even more than Fall Further does.

Start with whatever you want, although Fall From Heaven would probably be the easiest to learn the basics from, I think.

When I make OO my main religion, all my farms get these blueish fields. Is it just for looks, or do they add any bonuses?

just for looks.

Some Corlindale questions:

1) When I cast 'Mutate' (Chaos II) on Corlindale, what happens if he would get the weak promotion?
2) Normally, he is nearly invincible because of having 0 :strength:. Will he gets attacked by Assassins when I cast Earth II or similar spells which add :strength: or holy?

no it is not.

Ugh I lost so badly. My starting city was razed by daemons a few turns into the game. What do I do about barbarians they're really strong?

The early game is very hard in FfH - and Barbarians are a threat. Especially at higher levels, make sure you have your capital garrisoned. If Barbarians are very active, try to get a stronger military tech (hunting, archery,or bronze working if you have copper) earlier than normal. Archers should hold out against Barbs and hunters are good in the open to scout them out, fog bust, and beat them up while they are marching. Of course bronze just makes even the warriors strong.

Don't explore lairs and the like early, it is WAY too risky, wait until you are stronger. Sometimes you are just in a bad starting position, if you are near Pristin Pass, it is real bad news.

But I don't know what you mean 'raised by demons?'. Are you playing a Modmod? I don't see how you can get demons early in the game?

Best wishes,

I've just had half my continent turn to tundra in 1 turn.
I didnt see any messages saying why this happened. I have no idea why, or how to avoid it in future games, or if theres even any point in playing on anymore since most of my cities are starving.

Can someone tell me what this might be.

I looked in world builder and the entire world is the same.

Yes, that looks like it. The illians are certainly well ahead in this game.
Not sure I like that project though, seems a bit overpowered, as theres nothing I can do but just suffer its (fairly debilitating) consequences forever.

That change is only temporary.
Also even if it was permanent you could use scorch/ spring / vitalize to change your terain.
