Part of my problem is that my private folders include unit graphics that I try out, even if I don't use them in the final public PediaIcons file. The Spitfire, Hurricane, Stuka, ME110, Sabre and ME1101 are all in the version 5 downloads. For some reason I overlooked the Mustang.

You have to take some advice from history. Norway was a German ally because England was threatening to invade the Faeoran Islands (oil I believe, IRL...) Quisling told Hitler, "please invade, before the British do..."

Plant an Engineer right next to the UFO. You're The Reich, f's sakes, they won't object for long... Harbor and voila, you've got the RFZ-1 in your build queue!

As far as invisible units at sea, Gestapo on a transport can't use their Detect Invisible ability. I think it's called "sleeping units" from the original CivIII. Units on transport can't use their special abilities...

As for the German-Italian axis, Hitler himself thought it was a bad idea in later years, and SS troops were stationed all over the boot because Il Duce wasn't doing a very good job. It's a necessary ball-and-chain for the sake of realism. If you play Italy, you could easily do better than Mussolini did. I have. :cool:

Workers can't be added to a city because they don't cost you pop when you build them. The prog adds exactly the number it costs you to build a unit, if it has the "join city" flag. If it costs you 0 pop to build the unit, you add 0 pop...

And the best question is, big planes become available when you discover Ecology, since early B29 flights overflew their targets because they hadn't studied the jetstream! Read your civilopedia... :cool:
 
It occurs to me that I've changed numerous terrain graphics. I use SNOOPY (very lovely) and Industrial Sprawl railroads. Also changed the TerrainBuildings pcx file to show "mines" as factories.

It creates a very dense, industrial map, and the gameplay is nice if you like it dense. If you prefer open space and don't want to play Russia, it wouldn't be for you. But does anyone want me to upload my mixed Terrain folder?

I have taken Iceland just so that I could try to get the UFO.

Russia is doomed even with out the Big Wings.:lol:

Tried Itlay, it was to much trouble to get around Germany. Russia walked over both of us. Some fun, but I wasn't moving along as quickly as wanted.
UK was too easy if USA was on your side.;)
US will be hard with only one unit per transport, might try USA just to see if it can be done.

Hm. Not sure what your stategy was. Whenever I play Italy, I always go for the strategy to take Istanbul, capture the route to the Black Sea before invading Russia, and consolidate in Africa. I've never had problems "getting around Germany..."

What was your plan as Italy?
 
I got stuck in Europe and I never got to take Turkey's door to Russia. All as the result of Germany's dumb attacks, I was at war with almost everyone except for Germany. I did get France out of Africa and Britian out of far east. But Russia just rolled down thru Turkey to me and Germany just couldn't hold Russia either. :cry:

I will try that attack, next time :crazyeye: .

Currently Russia is Falling apart (3 parts, northern Russia 8-10 cities, 4 far east cities and 2 cities in Black Sea area) in about 8-10 turns, Russia shall be mine. :lol:

Europe makes a great friend,;) helping with Russia and the bad Scandivians.

UK & US still keep fighting each other. :) Better each other than me:D .
France is dead & Spain also.:goodjob:
I am working on Iraq with Turkey and UK but supply lines long. (ie one unit per transport.) :rolleyes:
Have foothold in Latin America- maybe jump point to attack USA. :D

NOTE: Big Wings / transports will not transport Armys, not even stacks of transports. :aargh: HOW DO YOU TRANSPORT THEM???????:rotfl:
 
I see your question clearer now. You want to transport an Army. Can't be done. Even the default Conquest rules don't allow a unit that can trasport another unit onto a transport. Just like Helis can't land on a carrier. It doesn't have anything to do with the scenario's limit of 1 unit per sea transport...

Just transport the leader and build the army at your first captured city at the front.

Supply lines aren't longer, you just need more transport units. Take heart, if the enemy subs attack, you'll only lose ONE transport with ONE unit, instead of a transport holding 4 units... That's a bargain at any price, and transports are CHEAP now... I think it's balanced.

GULAGs make workers, workers make railroads, Industrial Sprawl graphics show houses, it's almost like a SIM Civilization...

Two game stoping missing files::(
1. P-51 Mustang (Plane) "ini" file missing,
2. M26 Pershing (tank) "ini" file missing Plus all of unit the file items also.

Had to find them in other mods and copy them to this mod, v5.;)

Playing UK and having a hard time, US keeps wanting to attach me. I am paying all kinds of money, items, and etc. to keep them "happy". :lol: I haven't lost a city to the US yet.:goodjob:

Going very well so far, Germany is down to 4 cities. Itlay is at 5 cities. France keeps getting in the way or both would have been gone by now.:rolleyes:

Spain is gone:lol: Horses verus Tanks & bombers.:scan: They died!!!!!

But Russia is very hard nut to crack. I have taken only 5 Russian cities:( (3times each). ;) But Russia is busy with Iraq and Egypt. Also Russia is attacking neutral Europe & Germany-Italy.

Rommia & Africa are attacking US. Why or How is unkown?

US is building great fleets of ships but hasn't taken cities from anyone. :confused: I hope I can keep them from going after Canada. VP at 41243 so far.

UK won with 52450vp, Germany had only two cities. Romiana only had one city.:lol:

Italy, Spain and Scandanvia where gone. :)

I had only 8 cities of Russia, very hard nut to attack when you are at war with axies powers too.

US never got to attack, just gave them things to keep them busy. I was putting units on standby, ready if they started something. Had twenty battleships, fifty other ships in area, plus 10 big wings loaded with tanks in northern cities. It would have been a major battle.:lol:

I still think vp needs to be at 75000.

I got the UFO this time! I had 5 spaceship parts building at the end of game!

And I still think armies should be transportable. :king:
 
I agree, VP win should be at 75 000 or even higher. It would be interesting to play for VP and build "Solomon's Third Temple" which gives "Ark of the Temple" units which are flags. As long as VP victory were at least 75 000...

(latest version I'm testing has that GW... along with Al-Aqsa Brigades and the Fundamentalist Gov type...)

For my own games, I've included Arabia as a fixed start-up player, as well as Romania. It leaves places like Ireland or Iraq for the random last player. Works out well, since Egypt and England are in Locked Alliance. Given Arabia the "prefers Fundamentalist Gov" flag, tho starts out as Feudal. "Ansar Warriors" I use the Beduoin grafic, so there are lots of very stalwart camel-riding soldiers bombarding the tanks, etc. Mostly against Russia.:cool:

Patience. I'm testing out the al-Aqsa Brigades (TOW Infantries) and I'm tweaking combat values. So far Arabia isn't motivated enough to buy into it. Some calculation or other in the AI de-values the TOW I think. I've given them ROF 2, 0-range bombard of 140, but attack-defense values low, and "Attack2" INI setting for the Infantry grafix.

It is, however, tricky to stay on-topic in such a crazy mod. How do I include the 50s-60s consipracy theories for this mod? Tri-lateral comission, Illegal
Aliens, global warming from the Mohorovic Discontinuity, Flying Wing units for the US (the AF had some flying saucers and there are piccies...) and even cobalt bombs, bio-warfare, Orion spacecraft grafix, all are in the mix... I want them all, if I can. I'm still working on the CIA's gamma knife mind-control device...

No nut shall be roasted before its time... :cool:
 
I seemed to have been mistaken and a little too gungho on my last post. I was loading the map for play and came up with the following error;
Missing text
"text\PediaIcons.txt":ICON_BLDG_Auschwitz
the game will now exit.

What can I do to remedy this?
 
that's a tricky one. Read the first page posts to make sure the text files are the latest ones. I may have to clean up the posts, but they're all up-to-date. If you downloaded an earlier txt file you'll need the latest one.
