Hey Penvzila and Vanillacube, read your post elsewhere that you're both from Oregon (Would have replied there, but TFall had already given a warning about spamming). I'm from Eugene, myself (go Ducks!

), and actually grew up in Ashland (a real-live native Oregonian; a rare breed these days). Nice to see our state represented well in the forum

We have Ducks and Beavers, both the real kind and the mascots of our two largest state institutions of higher education (both football teams finished in the top 10 this year, BTW), lots of trees, green grass, and rain in the West, lots of...well...nothing in the East, lots of Californians moving up from the South, what was once one of the most progressive state governments that has since gone horribly awash in citizen sponsored ballot measures that flood our ballots with so many issues that none of us care about any of them any more *pause for breath*...Did I miss anything guys?

oregon state, i think, dropped by at sun devil stadium and kicked the fighting irich butt! YEA! i think asu will be pretty good next year. fired that bum snyder.

I grew up in the aforementioned state capital, but have since moved east for love and money.

All my brothers and sisters went to OSU, while I attended a certain Indiana-based private university, making the Fiesta bowl a rather embarrassing event.

FWIW, it's raining here in Maryland too. I may be wrong, but I think there are a lot of places that get rain.

Tim, as a true Duck believer, I'm sorry to hear of your family attending that *other* school, but yeah, they did kick some butt this year. Sorry it was at your expense. They knocked the Ducks out of the Rose Bowl in the last regular game of the season, too. My sister and brother-in-law also attended OSU, so I did take some grief over that.

Next year

I have actually have never even been to Eugene, or Salem for that matter. However I have passed through Corvallis on my way to the Alsea Mountains a thousand times. Im sure glad I live in Portland, beacuse id is so BORING ot there. I take my computer with me in my grandparents RV and get power from my aunt's mobile home.
Anyway, I am more of a former Civ player than a current one. I still play scenarios from time to time, but most of my gaming is devoted to Fallout 2 and Tribes. Tribes is a huge game in my Computer Science class (we set up a LAN party on the school network). No offense, but Civ gets boring after a while.
QUESTION: The first few times I played Civ2 MGE, the wonder videos worked fine, and now theya re simply skipped. Any ideas why this happens?
FACT: Portland, OR has the highest per capita of strip clubs in the USA. Not kidding!

Oregon is located on the pacific coast of the US, and happens to be at a position where there are strong prevailing westerly winds. This brings a constant stream of wet weather systems in from the ocean. These systems run into the Cascade mountans about 100 miles inland which causes them to dump rain in the western valleys of the state (where 90% of the population lives). East of the mountains is actually semi-arid desert

The temps are usually very moderate, but it rains frequently. In fact the volume of rain isn't much higher than many other places in the US, but instead of getting 2 inches in a single hour-long thunderstorm, they get 2 inches spread out over 5 days of off-and-on-again rain showers.

In short, Oregon (and Washington) have a reputation in the US for being very rainy places.

How do you know that? I've never heard of that, the only other name Portland has ever had is Stumptown, because there were so many gigantic tree stumps that many were never removed.
By the way, if you look at the big picture, it doesn't rain all that often here, I mean, look at Hawaii!
