FS1-Assimilation! (Noble?)

If ndy is out, it's Farae's turn. I get to do the pasting after that :P

Roger... I'll try to get on it tonight. Hopefully I'll have a save for you this evening.

As per Liq's suggestion, I have played Farae's turnset as well :P. ndy, you can play my slot, and it'll go back to the regular rotation once we get past you :) .

Turn (0): After looking through all our cities... I have to say that Mercantilism truly sucks. Especially for a civ as backwards as us. We cannot afford to be making LESS money. Also... pacifism REALLY SUCKS if you want me to go crack some heads. I don't care about making more great people points in all the cities with Judaism, why do we need to do that? Most of our cities will never see a great person!

Also, Caste System is utterly useless, seeing as almost none of our cities can support specialists, or are even close to being able to support specialists (besides barb town).

Methinks it's time for a civics change. Setting... Despotism, Nationhood, Slavery, Decentralization, Theocracy. Time: 2 turns.

Arg. Timbuktu is majorly screwed over. The Globe is gonna take 50 turns to complete! Hopefully I can capture Gaul and end this, letting Mali's citizens assimilate to us :P. Otherwise, Timbuktu is really, really useless... I starve the ingrates by making them all work the forests and mines...

Turn (1): Funny how we're making more in anarchy than with government (due to trades with AI). I start moving workers towards Djenne. Want to get rid of some cottages so it can grow.

Turn (2): My new civics come into play. We are now making money at +5 gold per turn instead of losing 11 gold per turn. Colonge itself is cashing in 10 gold from trades (previously only 2 gold when trading with ourselves). Generally just maintaining and fiddling with the cities. Almost ready for big military boom.

Turn (3): Uhg... Alex wants us to declare war on Victoria... I like Alex. I think he would make an excellent ally. And I want his world map. So... I accept his war propsal. Alex is now pleased. Let's hope it gets better. He's Theocratic... so we can't convert him...

Turn (4): Alex somehow grabbed a city that gave him all the resources we were selling to him. Damn... We need to destroy Mali. But I'm lacking up to date units. Will have them when cavs come... But until then.

Just some general updating.

Turn (5): Military buildup by Mansa... Building more cats... waiting for stupid Military Tradition...

Turn (6): Alex is pounding Hastings hard. This will be a harsh battle. Workers going chop, chop, chop around Timbuktu. I want the Globe done... for reasons that will become clear soon.

Turn (7): What was that for Alex? I was enjoying the show. Alex just captured and razed Hastings. Boo... Now I can't see what's going on. I have a big stack sitting on Mansa's borders. I eject his boats from my seas. He has to see this coming...

Turn (8): Military Tradition comes in... You know what this means :D. Start on Printing Press (yes I know other people have it, but they won't trade with me!). Upgrade some knights. Next turn, Mali will be invaded for the final time.

Wait... this looks good. We have a good monopoly on military tradition :). Time to trade. I get the printing press, and economics from Alex, AND 200 gold. All for military trad. Unfortunately, I can't trade it to anyone else for anything good, and I won't give it to them to boost their troops.

Turn (9): Mile high stack moves into Mali, after he refuses to give us all his gold :P.

Turn (10): Stack keeps moving...

Turn (11): Montezuma threatens us for his map. Haha. I reject him and he scampers away. My stack reaches Gaul... Oh yeah, Colonge really is a piece of work. This is gonna make a sweet amount of troops...

Turn (12): Cats reduce Gaul's defences in 1 turn. Sweet. Suicide cat dies, but does collateral.

In the ensuing struggle, I lose 3 seasoned units to the barbaric hordes of Mali... but in the end...

Civ4ScreenShot0035.jpg

The Mali have fallen! We are the first Civ in the game to have destroyed another!

Due to the Mali culture suddenly becoming ours, the need for the Globe is somewhat lessened. It's still going to be finished though, for some future engagements.

Turn (13): A lot of nothing. A huge mass of units moves into Gaul, to reduce our supply... and a bunch of workers stand around.

Turn (14): Sue Victoria for peace... Ok. Manage to get 20 gold. She has a lot of techs, but I get the feeling we won't be able to acquire any unless we actually attack her! Get all of Monty's gold for Philosophy. From Mao, I get Constitution for Military Tradition. I got the more expensive tech :P. Err... and Mao gave me cash for it too. Excellent. Mao is part of Alex's axis, so I don't think there's too much to worry about. He might fight Inca too, which is always good.

Last chop finishes. Globe done next turn.

Turn (15): Mwhaha! Globe is done! Now I can whip ANYTHING. Start with tonnes of irrigration. I put up a granary and whip it. Also, when we get better units, we can draft 4 at a time from Timbuktu, as everyone left will be content to sit around and watch Shakespeare.

Turn (16): Next thing in Timbuktu is a Barracks... so all the draftees will have at least SOME experience.

Now we have 2 great engineers... I'll let ndy decide what to do with them.

Turn (17): Finish parts, go for Astronomy. Doesn't look like anyone wants to trade for it though. I'm not giving it to enemies.

Turn (18): Moving... not much else. Gaul comes out of resistance soon.

Turn (19): Uhg. Gaul is being culture pushed. I rush a theatre to help it out. Will need temples galore too.

Turn (20): Mao traded me corporation for parts! Yay! Now I'm at tech parity with him, as well as getting more gold.

Ok, analysis. Annihilated Mali, although it seems to have taken a long time to do so. We got 1 extra city this dual turn, which is not that useful due to America's cultural pressure. However, due to a giant stack sitting in it, we should be ok, no chance of riot right now.

With out longtime foe destroyed, we need to continue to climb the score charts. Right now, we have an unholy high stack of cavalry, with more on the way. I suggest we smash Asoka to little bits. Firstly, I'm certain that most of his score is culture, his one city that I can see seems lightly defended, compared to Mali at least.

The other potential target is Washington, but I have no data on his territory. I can't seem to get a world map from anyone. Arg.

The only problem with either is that they have more tech than us. This potentially means that they may have rifles. However, our cavs come out with dual promotion, so if we get pinch to take on their gunpowder units, we should be ok, although we may lose LOTS of cavs.

We need more work for our workers to do :P. Oh yeah, once we get riflemen, we can draft every turn or so from Timbuktu, they won't care :P.

God of Old, Lord of Time, by the Good Goddess! The weekend have cometh!

I will do my best to get on ND1, and I am grateful Silver for you taking my turn.

And now is the perfect time for me to advertise the story linked in my sig. :) *is mobbed and killed* :(

^_^, I am so sorry for taking so long, but high school is a *****.

yah see why I said take 20 silver?

hmm that's not a hammer oh well banana is ok as well.

sorry about being so timid on the civics, I really am not up to speed on tweaking them to full effect.

as for the rest.....

globe for timbuk is the win. you know why, Liq knows why.. it's all good. Really hard to find a good town for that national wonder but timbuk just screamed SHAKE ME.

but you saw my game plan, if turns had been normal you'd have started war on turn 1 and rolled it, better you take your normal 10 to drop the hammah.

Anyway nice choice of civics going seeing as I'm a total wimp when it comes to dropping the bomb. I'm great at loading the bombs all nice and neat though and writing 'Maltsaballs for Mansa' on them or some such.:crazyeye:

All acording to liq's master plan... I think.

Imo lets pound spain she is prolly only a 3 or 4 town civ. try and get some open borders with america.

Cheers!
-Liq

To tell you the truth, I'm not completely satisfied with the last 20 turns I took. Starting to get tech parity (except for with Victoria, who has a huge tech lead despite getting her teeth kicked out twice by Alex... which reminds me, the last check I did on Vicky had her with only 2 cities left. She may be the second civ to die.) and montary situation has been fixed from the disasterous Mercantilism. Unless playing an isolationist variant, I cannot see how Mercantilism would be useful. Pacifism might've been good, but right now, we need to crush, kill and destroy some enemies, before Alex does it :D.

I'm kinda disappointed that I was only able to capture 1 city, but I didn't want to rush into another war with either America or India, seeing as we don't know what kind of units they are boasting (I can see Indian Grenadiers, which probably means rifles are not far behind.). We will have to destroy another though, because there is no space for the AI to found lousy cities for us to culture flip (which will be the only way we can flip them, we are 4th on culture ratings).

We can use those engineers to buy us a wonder when one comes along that we like. And Timbuktu makes an excellent force labour/conscription camp. So much food.

I dunno... it just feels that our economy is based on smashing out the enemy and sucking up to the Taoist alliance. Just didn't feel very stable.

Is ucel going ahead of me?

No big deal, as long as I get in on the fun at some point.

Let's keep up the death-causing :hammer:

I can play in ca. 4 hours, so if you can post a new save in 4 hours we can switch.

Got no answer, so decided to play it. And it doesn't look bad!

Cats are ready for Delhi bombarding next turn.
Remember: bombard across the river, attack from the field north of the city!

FS1_Delhi.jpg

Good luck

Well. I did not expect it would take over an hour for the game to load. Granted, my computer sucks, and it's been a little slow as I've gotten late into small/standard games, but nothing like this. There doesn't seem to be much point in me slowing the rest of you down.

I did take a peek once it finally loaded...would it be crazy if we simply razed India? We can't have much more than 150 turns left; we will have to flip the culture switch soon to have any chance of winning accd to the variant. (As of right now our top three culture cities are Berlin (5,563), Hamburg (2,825), and Munich (1,520). That's a loooong way to go.) Creating a vacuum for AI settling next to us after we go culture should create some flip potential.

Sorry to have to crap out on you guys...reason #439 why I need a new comp.

A culture win requires a game plan from turn one in that all techs must go for that goal alone...

WE wasted too much start and were crammed into a corner by a mansa that went south not east..

in that regard a culture win is simply not possible here, looking like we role peeps over instead.

Keep in mind that panzers are VERY powerful against tanks and mordern armor such that we can fight from a tech hole better than most.

Cheers!
-Liq

Liq's up, right?

Please don't end this game with me crapping out :( If we go for culture, go for culture. Otherwise kick some butts ;)

Smooth moves. Using those cats so effectively despite the tech advantage the AI has shows that the new style artillery units are still deadly in the hands of a human player (although the AI seems to know to use collateral damage units too, remember the tough time I had getting the stack to Timbuktu?). What kind of units have you been facing going into India? I didn't see any rifles in Bombay, but since Asoka is Washington's buddy, and Washington has Infantry, I doubt that India is far behind.

If the pressure is getting heavy on Gaul, and we have Hereditary Rule, we should throw a bunch of units into it to stop the rioting. It'll really suck if that city flips. Either that, or we really need to work on pumping it's culture.

EDIT: From the roster up front, yeah it looks like it. Farae, could you update it by moving pessimist and ndy to "observer" or something? I can never tell who's going next.)

oh cor, liq is gonna pass this turn, gotta be at work in um 2 hours lol and well I suck hard core on offensive crap (honest!!!!). Best not to have liq screw up the push.

plus I had to go completely anal on http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=144506&page=1
and that turn alone took 5 hours after all the photoshop madness ended. You might like the writeup if you like cough syrup induced ranting. Seems a good chunk of civ players are effing weird, so I fit right in!

I am getting mass skilllzed @ teh fotoshopz btw, phear.

so that um drops us down to, lets see.....

1) Farae (Back?)
2) S.ilver
3) ucel
4) Liquidated - sleep deprived but whose EQ guild killed hatchet (or hatcher) the bad cook (or tormentor) with 43 peeps + an afk chanter that was perma dead.) gee gee. effing bard flute with a crap mod dropped, what the heck is soe smoking?

ndthsmdy (pc crapped out)

pessimist (same pc as ndy's)

man hard for me to figure it all out.

you can go farae, if not, then silver again... *mansa screams*

honest, get the war crap over with and give the clean up turns to liq, that's what the nyquil is all about.. raking leaves and peeling the dead riflemen off the pavement of the new driveway.:goodjob:

I do not require a strict turn set duration of you guys, fight it out for as long as you need, liq is around to bandage hamburg back up and queue up panzers.

I'm starting to see dancing bananas again:banana: , better stop while I am only partially behind.

lets just go domination. that's not really gonna be an easy feat as is.

"More driveways to wash the blood off of!" cried Liq:crazyeye:

Cheers!
