Full Monty

You're playing already? Teching Drama?

Not sure about GG. How has the war gone so far?

I thought we agreed on tech being obvious.

War is like war;)

I killed that stack:

Before everyone cries i will give calculated reasoning.
If we attack we loose arround 3 axes +/- one. we also easily pick Ha without weakening defense.

If monty attacks. Phant draws the only spear which can happen in city. Ha vs whatever won't be bad, but chariots will most likely draw vultures [unless i miscalculated.]. We loose about same amount of units and need finish injured ones on jungle hill.

If monty does not attack things can get out of hand rather fast.

+we pay for all alive unit upkeep...

So what i do with GG? I am inclined to attach to spear for C3 formation and simply plop M1 on one of archers.

Chariots wouldn't have drawn Archers?

Attach GG is fine with me.

About more cities: once war is over, we can build science and wealth once we have currency. I think it won't be an issue of crashing the economy rather than settling too late.

on base strength and on cultural defense i think vultures would go.

What we miss by settling later? we have 6 cities for national wonders anyway.

Yes but the -100% wouldn't have changed it?

I find myself wishing I'd settle my cities after the first six sooner so that they can contribute to post Liberalism wars. We're getting closer to the time where they won't be able to do so. Granted the main goal right now is survival which means techs.

A save would've been nice. Hard to comment when so much is changing. GG spear sounds ok to me - problem only is he can't kill more than 2-3 units as he has no first strike so drill4 archer would be nice too.

Agree with kos about settling further cities, I also found that settling quickly after founding initial cities is important... but we can't really afford that just yet I guess...

Okay, i played through Drama to 25AD

First i cleared that stack

Got GG which i attached to spear which ended dying. Don't know drilled archers still not make cut against elephants i believe.

Made some of our UB [whipped some unhapiness and slow built some i believe]

Towards end survived rather large monty stack [to large to attack]. Bstard still is not talking with us.

Some more pictures

Oh, well at least we teched drama and survived onslaught. don't think we should see anything major.

We have sacrificial settler, tech to trade and another settler is in progress. Chopped about gems as situation alowded.

Our goody neighbour indigo teched through DR mostly in this turnset.
Oh, yes and the save.

Oh, yes, yes we have confu AP...

I had crazy idea of actually getting indigo's nearest city and gifting it to green:lol:

If we have enough CR axes alive this might be pullable.

Nice!

Will look at the save later as I can't now.

That city has Walls so it would be very costly without catas to capture, unless it happens to be near empty, which would surprise me.

Would it be worth building a spy to go investigate? It will give us good intel on what's heading in our direction if we can keep it alive. I'm up so I'll look and post some comments.

Yeah, well don't think spy is a bad idea. Can't see the save right now but will comment later as well.

Lets hope alan and buddies don't hurry up with their mod and stuff so we can be a bit relaxed about finishing this SG

We can get Monarchy via Drama+25 gold (or put 1 turn of research and grab gold instead) which will help our happy cap. Maybe gift it to Green as well to move him up to Cautious for trading (hopefully Calendar)

There's an Indigo galley to the west coming our way. I hope there's nothing in it - anyway, maybe move a unit or two west just in case?

Otherwise it's pretty straightforward I think. Currency>...>Civil Service or Currency>Feudalism

If it keeps going our way it is probably loaded. IIRC, AI galleys [and galleons also] do not go for pillage and it should not be in exploration.

No problem shyuhe. Can play in a few hrs or tomorrow, doesn't matter.

Rough PPP:

Take the monarchy trade. Most cities are at happy cap, HR will be very welcome, especially after we sign peace. Will put one turn of 0% into monarchy though, we'll want the cash.

Wait 4t until GS spawns and bulb philo, then revolt to HR. We'll wanna hold the AI off lib techs as much as possible.

Techpath after monarchy: Currency > CS (I prefer that to feudalism... the AI will tech feud fast enough and we can trade for it hopefully).

What about the settler(s)? I could use the current one 4W of gold city for clams or somewhere near the cows north of uruk. In 5t we'll get another settler we can use for peace city, I doubt we can talk to indigo before that anyway.

Anything else?

Good idea, but it seems awkward. I also think fish should be next, and that's a lot of moving around.

Monarchy trade and Currency/CS next sounds good. Are we still builbing Philo?

I would prefer to go currency--feudalism. We may desperately need long bows and given our military size, vassalage isn't that bad. Do we want to try vassalage/pacifism?

Don't like feudalism. We currently know 3 AIs, we're at war with 1 and and are not in danger of losing anything just yet, while the other 2 AIs are busy fighting eachother. I don't think the benefits of getting lbows early comes anything near earlier maces as well as buero and faster lib.

Vassalage doesn't seem too bad in this game but I never really used it. Not sure about pac, it means that we finally need to pick a SR (2 turns of anarchy at least as well as crappy relations, especially after meeting more AIs) and the unit upkeep again increase... I don't think that's worth it.
