Full Monty

Bulbing philo will get us metalcasting, and that's it. So I agree that it's not a very good deal right now. If we can bring indigo to cautious, it'll open up some better trade opportunities. If we give the city we conquered to green, then white will hate us forever (and we might as well adopt Hindu in that case).

there is imho valid variant of bulb philo trade to white, when gift city jump hindu and forget white as trade partner forever. Might work or might not.

For certain we cannot keep that city... it has 6.51% chance to revolt.
I agree with Soirana to gift it to Green... but he will probably gift if to Indigo at some point later.
Anyway, we should take advantage of the time to chop the forests that will shift control to produce something in ~4 turns.

Let's go Hindu and please our direct neighbors. Trading with 2 AIs is better anyway.

The only reasons I can find for bulbing Philosophy are
1) keep other AIs away from Liberalism
2) eventual trade chip?
3) use the HR revolt to include Pacifism for GPP

There are some good tiles unused that should...
Uruk: the 6H1C tin PH mine is unworked in favor for a 4H tile
Lagash: should work on Granary first and borrow a tile from Horse, presumably the grass mine. The Archer isn't important at all there.

There are more micro issues but you can figure them out as well as I can point them out :)

I'm not sure about tech. The trading situation is seriously tricky.

I usually don't do it at this stage, but how about GA? We're switching to both religion and HR in the short term, and a marginal speed up to Currency-COL-CS could be worth quite a bit of commerce.

Another option: tech Music right now for free Artist (is it gone yet?) and some trade value. That would depend on trade availability of Currency and COL in the short term.

we rather tech something useful. One more declaration and trades go to bin.

My guess would be COl won't be avalaible until stupid wonder gets built. Currency webasically have already.

GA is IMO waste. Main reason we are reseaching "good" is cause we have lump of cash burn through.

Worst is i do not see very good diplo options mid/long term. Oh, well, no big surprise naturally.

Research will pick up if we settle the remaining cities and once Currency is in.

Best use for Scientist is probably that Academy we wanted earlier. We'll bite our nails if we have to wait another 33 turns to get it.

If we're going with an academy, I would lower the slider to the minimum necessary to finish currency this turn, then turn the slider to 0% while the GS makes his way over. It'll be a few turns that we can accumulate extra cash.

I'm not too keen on gifting away that new city. Will it really help keep green from vassalizing to indigo? Avoiding land target status would be very nice, but I'm wondering whether the price is worth it. Then again, it will free up our vultures to go attack the barb hill city, which is nice.

Is everyone ok with gifting the northern iron city to indigo? I'm thinking 1S of the iron since it'll be a marginal city but not complete crap (for when we conquer it).

We're going to have to choose sides very soon to keep tech trading alive. These monty wars are rapidly getting out of hand. So I'm ok with shifting into Hindu. I'm a bit worried that the other Monty's may be in a Buddhist love fest but then again, indigo was the first to Islam so they probably aren't that advanced.

Academy, yes. Forgot about that... :mischief:

Gems should beeline Palace, IMHO. Borrow a hill mine and get a chop soon.

Currency-COL-CS seems best to me, as it doesn't seem we can really guarantee trade. Though we probably won't get any trade value for those anyway. Getting Calendar soon is important, so Gems can really get rolling. Can we cottage there at all? After we get the banana, it should be ok, assuming not much whipping.

We should gift the sacrificial city to Indigo in the crappiest place possible. Can raze it after. Maybe 1N of current settler location?

I'd like to keep the Indigo city. Why not? There's no danger of it actually flipping, and it's a decent city - land is power. Don't we have enough spare units there to go after barb city with vultures?

Shut down research for 2t after Currency sounds good.

That settler in the north is a bit close to the barb city. Do we get a warning if an archer moves next to it? I never know... We should settle that asa there's a worker available for pigs, in any case.

It will take ages before it becomes decent [gets all nice tiles north and east].

And believe last thing you want is revolt while in siege. Absolutely no way.

Any city settled now will run at net loss for 20-30 turns. I do believe this is basic knowledge. The reason we should settle is getting more hammer base for day we dtart killing our delightful neighbours.

This game is so fast paced that i might die from old age before having next turnset;)

Mysty hasn't posted anything in the last two days so let's move this along with a skip for now. That makes bbp up.
Thanks. I'll be properly available from next week on. Very nice set ;)

Some questions:
Do we have consensus on academy in Gems?
Do we have a consensus on gifting Indigo city to Green and desert city to Indigo?
If so, where do we wanna plant the sacrificial settler?
Are we sending the vultures north to the barb city?

Academy in Gems
Gift City to green after chopping available forests (in a worker/settler maybe)
1S of Iron as shyuhe said
Send Vultures to barb city

bulb philo if tao is not founded.
gift desert to indigo.
gift city to green after trading philo to white.
Send vultures.

edit: I would prefer having discussion on most of these topics. But seemingly this will not happen.

There's one more settler needed for the cow north of Eridu. Where would you guys place it? 1E of cow can share the banana, and 1NE gets the two GHs. I'm for 1NE.

The only issue with waiting for chops is the slight chance that we might steal Calendar for Currency if we can open trading with Green right away.

Are we going COL-CS after Currency? I know shyuhe, at least, wanted Feudalism next. In either case, I'd wait for the academy after Currency before turning on research.

Edit: @Soirana, Tao's not founded.

1N1NE IIRC. Since when we agreed on academy?

^ We're apparently not agreed. That's why I'm asking.

I would typically bulb Philo, yes. Just worried about trade possibilities. It looks like MC and HBR are the only ones open ATM. Calendar actually wouldn't be either, correct?
