Erebus does not give the Calabim a preference for anything, although it does give preferences to several other civs. Maybe those other civs just got preferential placement, leaving the vampires with crappier starting positions since they have to start at least a certain distance away from everyone?

whats even more strange is that it doesn't have the mutated promotion. (or the weak promo)

I can imagine an elephant flying over the ocean would run out of things to eat, and therefore get withered and weak. What I cant figure out though, is why its able to fly without wings.

His large body is inflated with gas, instead of built up with muscles. This makes it light enough to float, but also quite frail.
