Look at the bright side: you don't have to worry about getting any "You have traded with our worst enemy" diplomatic penalties! :D

The "funny" thing is that I'm everyone's worst enemy, despite each one of them except Qin Shi having someone they should like even less. The most insulting thing is Justinian only cautious with Gilgamesh at -5: different religions, close borders, doesn't matter, they just hate me and only me. I later converted to Giggles and Qin's religion, but this "diplo" was so ridiculous I stopped the game, despite having great land, it was just too stupid. How high can these hidden modifiers go ?

Seriously, why do Firaxis hate that game so much that they need to totally spoil it with such dumb "diplo" ? They could just have coded "-20 Scr*w you!" towards the player, it would have been exactly the same.

/end rant. :deadhorse:

Jeez, I'm pretty sure I found "-20 Scr*w you!" in my copy's XML files. I don't know about you guys, but that's how most of my games turn out lately. :D

Mind you, Gandhi surrounded by low peace weight characters has more causes to complain. AI Monty can be annoyed with AI Gandhi at +5 - the hidden modifier of AI Monty to AI Gandhi attitude can go as low as -12 (!!!), I think. You got unlucky with the opponents, though - Qin, Toku and Giggles always a hidden mutual +2 to each other, and a mutual +1 to Justinian. Their half-random PeaceWeight values can also sometimes conspire to be similar, giving them a mutual +4 to each other. All that not taking the BaseAttitude into account, which AI applies to AI's and humans alike and ranges from -1 to +2 depending on the leader.

See the scale of hidden AI-AI modifiers? From -13 (Monty to Gandhi at worst PeaceWeights) to +9 (Zara to someone with the same WarmongerRespect and same PeaceWeight as him)! (not counting the rank difference stuff, I won't go there...) I sometimes don't understand the purpose of diplo screen at all...

I have no problem with hidden modifiers. My view is that the information you are provided is supplied by the AIs and hidden modifiers let the AI lie to the human ...

"Sure, we like you - you are our bestest friend"

While in reality ...

"I hate your guts because you took my ABC".

I think that the spying system should include another passive spying activity ('Reveal True Opinion') that effectively uncovers the AIs true feelings towards the human. I can imagine a spy in the AIs capital being well placed enough to have access to internal documents detailing how the AI leader really feels about the human.

I would put such an passive spy action at 2x or 3x the 'investigate city' option.

The "pleased", "cautious" etc. statuses are always accurate, except in cases of averaging vassal attitude.
