I'm curious about Macemen + Cannons, I can see how you easily beat opponents on the offense, but how do you deal with your opponent's Riflemen/Grenadiers attacking your stack? That should be a slaughter...

Diverting to Steel instead of following the path to Rifling shouldn't take so long that the AIs get Rifling. If they do, you are in trouble. The idea is to beeline to Steel, bypassing Guilds, Banking, Printing Press, and Replaceable Parts in favor of Gunpowder and Chemistry. Chemistry is expensive, and so is Steel. Thus it helps a ton if you can take one from Liberalism.

The AIs don't prioritize Rifling, but they will eventually make it to Military Science. But you will have a fairly long window of opportunity to exploit your Cannons.

However, if you do find yourself up against Riflemen/Grenadiers, suicide a few Cannons into their SoD and mop up with your Macemen. Cannons will chew up a stack and leave it weak.

The idea is to have Cannons/Maces going up against Longbows and, maybe, Knights.

Looks like alot of good, undeveloped, and cottagable land out there, as well. I'd assume this is due to some sort of advanced start thing.

That looks like a really low number of beakers to me also, but I only play Marathon on the larger maps, so smaller maps with less civs and faster speeds could mean that that's a respectable number of beakers, I guess. In any event, no offense, but pulling a "Nelson Muntz" on Farsight is kinda rude, IMHO. Then again, what do I know. Brain the size of a planet, and I'm typing this.
