An expansion where the player gets guillotined?
...for some reason this made me think French Revolution...
In my case, my complaints come down to a purely psychological issue: you cannot buy the bundles if you've already purchased the base game.I'm always surprised when people complain about the cost of Civ or its expansions. They essentially cost the same (or less) as a single night out to dinner or a move with a companion. And instead of getting a few hours of enjoyment, you're getting hundreds (or thousands!) of hours.
@darkace77450 Do you remember Kate, the community manager before Pete? She was rather amused when we began to threaten storming the Bastille and singing songs from Les Mis during Civ V.
So if it does happen next week, that means 12 weeks later (Feb 25th) is Carnival. What a marvelous coincidence *remembers the carnival mask on the shelf*.

They made some interesting labels for mixed drinks though.

When did the mask appear?
The mask was a reference to the Red Death, wasn't it?
Well, I blame @bite for not being asleep. He has to be asleep for all important announcements.

I apologize for nothing
They had to drop a hotfix today for PS4 multiplayer issues. I don't think that would have affected a expac 3 announcement timeline, but possibly if there were marketing concerns about that being a distraction.
If anything, I suspect they are either trying to avoid overlapping the marketing period with the current black Friday/cyber-Monday sale, or they arranged the 12 week marketing period to finish on Carnival.
I mean, generally speaking it wouldn't make sense to announce a new XP so close to a major release like they had last week, so I don't know why people even thought that we would have gotten an announcement around now anyways. And then with the Steam Autumn Sale on this week, I wouldn't have expected an announcement anyways.
Of course, once you get past here, you start to run into the Christmas season, so it kind of sucks to announce something, have a week or two of marketing, and then shut down the marketing over the holidays. So at this point, I would almost expect more that if there is another XP, they might just wait until after the holidays, announce in January for more of a March-April timeframe, rather than the February date they've hit the last couple years. Although if they like the Feb releases, then as the math goes, they basically need to announce it in the next week or so to have enough runway on the marketing campaign.
Now, I'm not a marketing manager, so maybe this is all just BS. And we also don't know if there is another XP coming - if the next "Release" is more of a spinoff variant like the Colonization/BE, then timing changes significantly. Or if they decide to do one-off DLC instead of a full XP, obviously that also changes things too. Or if they don't have anything and the next major release is Civ 7 and all they have before then are regular patches and maybe some map packs, then that also significantly changes things.
