So, something along the lines of this...

Yeah, I'm not sure VR would do much for map play, but it would make leader interaction very interesting. But I wonder if it would get repetitious faster when it's more immersive like that.

I'm imagining it as you having this big ass hall with a throne, subjects, generals, war table and all that other stuff. Imagine playing as Montezuma, standing on your throne at the top of a pyramid looking over Tenochtitlan. Might be more of a "Emperor Simulator" rather than a 4X game but I'd be down all the same.

Firaxis, if you're reading this...

YES, PLEASE

I assume because this is Thanksgiving this week I would assume there won't be anything this week

Both previous expansions were either announced or teased a few days before Thanksgiving.

The two existing expansions took 12 weeks from tease to release. If the tease appears today, we would be looking at Feb 18 or 20th. If next week, then Feb 25 or 27th, the last week of February.

Maybe they realized there is a pattern with them teasing an expansion around thanksgiving, and decided to spice things up by teasing third one at later date?
(Or maybe they are just sadistic and find our growing insanity pleasing)

You don't typically keep pumping money for patches in a game with no future prospects of income.

Not usually, but Xcom 2's Tactical Legacy Pack demonstrates Firaxis' willingness to do so (to a degree, anyway; they eventually began charging for it after giving it away for free for the first month or so).

I would't rule out expansion until end of february next year ... simply I belive thing with consoles took some time even for main Civ dev team, so delaying 3rd expansion would have sanse. Let console players play the game for a while (2,3 months) than get sales up with new content. PC players would buy it anyhow.

The heavy lifting of the ports is done by Aspyr not Firaxis. Plus the Switch version was released right before the announcement of R&F.

Well, I blame @bite for not being asleep. He has to be asleep for all important announcements.

Meanwhile FXS_MisterKevin went to Paris and is having fun :) I suppose we can treat that as a tease as well? What could it possibly be?

...for some reason this made me think French Revolution...

... Revolution-themed expansion, anyone?

He went on vacation just before GS was announced last year. If I remember correctly, he jumped on the plane a few hours after the weather livestream started.
