If there is another Xpac coming, but they're not going to announce it until the new year, they're going to have to at least do another patch before that. If any to fix the pantheon exploit...even though I'm loving it :mischief:.

Still holding out hope for something next week. I think if there's nothing then we're probably looking at January at the earliest for an announcement.

Eagle Pursuit's Carnavale theory is very appealing to me (especially because it could suggest an Italian Civ of some kind... )

And if it's Venice, it lends itself to the possibilities of both Health and Corporation mechanics.

Health and TRADE overhaul.

Imo trade works well enough. There are mechanics in-game that need attention far more than it.

True, but you still have policy cards, civ abilities etc that play around with the trade mechanics so there's some diversity there even if it's still pretty rudimentary. It maybe just me but I prefer rudimentary mechanics that get the job done, rather than ones that are so finicky I can't be bothered to use them (aerial combat for example).

It "works", but there is no strategic element to it at all. Just send your traders to whatever city has the best yields and that's all there is to it.

I agree with this. In my opinion, trade should be tied to new health mechanics, such as disease for example. Maybe you can earn great people points from creating cities with a vast trade network.

That sounds more like a UA rather than a generic mechanic, in my opinion.

Get what job done? Mechanics in a strategy game are supposed to involve at least a drop of mental activity.

Nah, they could give us Napoleon... Napoleon III though, as a way to troll us :p

I wouldn't be entirely against, Napoleon III could be interesting to play against, with his fabulous moustache...

Yeah I can imagine Napoleon III would be blast to animate, would love to see what they would do.

I would really love improved trade and companies mechanics. Although, I’ve know idea what a good system would look like.

Please no more prestige units like Rock Bands, I don’t want corporate exec units running around the map. And please no monopoly mechanics, where you run around trying to grab all the gypsum. Oh brother.

No. Something smarter please. Something that actually bears some relationship to how commerce and finance work. But no, I don’t know what.

I feel the same about Venice. Please bring back Venice. Just don’t bring back Civ V Venice. And actually, don’t bring back Venice, give us Italy, but we can play it as Venice. No idea how.

Wow. Really easy request. Give me awesome stuff. But not this or that and I don’t know how it should be awesome. Yeah, do that.

I don’t think France is at the top of the list of Alt leaders for me. But yes. Napoleon would be very fun.

I’m quite over waiting for news. I’d prefer FXS just confirm if they are or aren’t doing a 3XP. There’s so much chat about it - not just here - that I think it’s going to be quite upsetting if things drag out until next year, and the answer then turns out to be “no”.

For what it's worth, I doubt a Civ VI Venice would be a lot like Civ V Venice. Mali has the lock on "do everything with gold" dynamic, and extra trade routes have been done to death.

General observation: You do realize that the more functions and complexity of said functions you put in this game the worse the A.I. will preform?
So we avoid making the game better because we're afraid the AI won't be able to handle it?

Sounds like we should have stopped making PC games after Othello or Go.

Agreed. Mali are a very fun design, and I think are basically the “Venice” mercantile Civ we needed mechanically. I really like how they implemented extra trade routes for this Civ - very cool.

In terms of flavour, I think we maybe need a Civ like Italy / Venice that has that “collection of City States” feel, although in really different ways Pericles, Hungary and Georgia do sort of tick that box already.

Like I said, I really like the idea of an Italy/ Venice Civ, but I don’t know how that would work mechanically.
