[GS] Future Update?

Imagine this:

The intro cutscene begins with a closeup of Sean Bean’s character’s face. As it zooms out, you see he has a long braided beard and is wearing a tall Mesopotamian crown. He is riding in a chariot, complete with royal parasol. The chariot emerges from the massive Ishtar Gate. Sean looks back to see the daughter, who cheers. The scene shifts. The daughter is still cheering, but it’s now a Mayan ball game. The Father tries to hit the ball with his hip, dives... and misses. A look of concern flashes across the daughter’s face. The scene shifts again. The daughter is now dressed as a Byzantine empress in royal purple and wearing the imperial tiara. She looks on as soldiers repel an attack from atop the Theodosian Walls. The camera pans to the Hagia Sophia in the background.

What would you want to see next?

Cut to Sean Bean's character, standing in a crowd that is watching as a certain priest nails some paper to the door of a church. Then jump forward to a group of people signing a certain Declaration of Independence, then show the daughter, waving off her father as he heads off to participate in the American Civil War.

We get an interior shot of a colonial office. Sean Bean, quill in hand, is scribbling numbers on a ledger as the camera pans over his shoulder and out the window to reveal a port where crates are being loaded onto a cargo ship flying the Portuguese flag. Washout, then fade back to crates being loaded onto a delivery truck as the camera pans up from an asphalt shipping yard and through a window into a corporate office where the daughter is studying a ledger. The camera then pans to a map on the wall showing branch offices located throughout Europe. Another fade and that same map now shows Western and Soviet blocs. The camera pulls back a bit to reveal the map on a table as generals point here and there, denoting possible troop deployments.

I hope the fine folks at Firaxis are seeing this because I just got super hyped for a third expansion intro video just by reading this!

Surely some fun ideas but if a 3rd XP is indeed coming, the intro video is likely already in post production :p

Edit: if not already finished since a reveal is ostensibly mere weeks away

Well adding a moat on the map is tempting.
Honestly instead of a district I like the idea earlier suggested about implementing it into the current fort improvement. You can upgrade it every era after the proper tech is researched with a military engineer.
Classical: Roman fort (Rome only)
Medieval: Motte and Bailey Castle
Renaissance: Bastion
Industrial: Polygonal or Industrial Fort
Modern: Steel and Concrete or Modern Fort

So when upgraded. these forts can attack enemies the same way city and encampments (both with walls) does?

I'd like them to have ZOC and be able to attack units directly adjoining them (not at +1 range) but with the ENFORCED ZOC so they have to be reduced and protecting the city from pillaging until they're reduced.

I like that, maybe adding that there has to be a unit inside to be operational.

The Father leads modern era troops onto a troop transport. The hatch closes behind them. The hatch opens and the Daughter leads futuristic troops in sci-fi armor down the ramp. Camera pans by the “X-Com” badge on her uniform before it redirects up to the stars.

I would be down for the return of the XCOM unit.

(It was the cooler of the two future units from V anyway)

Maybe if they are working on XCOM 3, the father and daughter will be potential squadmates as an easter egg or something.

Previous iterations of the franchise didn't lend themselves as much to expansion as Civ6 does. When BtS & BNW released for their respective franchises, I really felt like Firaxis were DONE. I don't get that feeling with Gathering Storm, though.

I agree. Still feels like a lot more room left in a game. Room for a Third Expansion for sure. Probably not room for a Fourth, but I could even see room for some dlc after a Third Expansion.

For me late game in Civ 6 is most boring of all civ games, ever ... I really think Civ6 which is really interesting 60-70% of a play, deserve something else at the end. Brave new World really helped Civ6, but climate change and specially new era didnt make late game any more interesting ...

The late game is boring because AI i so weak that it is irrelevant after mid game. They don't have to add new features to make the game more interesting. They only need to make the AI more challenging.

Also I don't like the deterministic diplomacy. When an AI starts to get friendly it will renew the friendship indefinitely (99 out of 100 times). Civ 6 is lacking dynamic diplomacy unlike Civ 4 which had religions and Civ 5 which had ideologies. Both religions and ideologies had really great impact on whether your neighbor would like you or hate you which could lead to world wars. Unless Firaxis won't fix AI and/or diplomacy none of other new shiny features would fix the late game boredom.

I’ve seen a lot of posts lately talking about the end game and specifically how Ideologies in previous versions led to more end game conflict. I expect a Third Expansion might focus on that.

You could basically have BNW as an expansion for Civ VI. Social Policies, Ideologies and Cultural Pressure would all sit very nicely within the game’s current rule set. I could also see something similar to BE’s affinity system.

Guess we’ll know either way pretty soon.

Not if it's a district. If it's a tile improvement, then yes. Districts are FAR too expensive to not have the "doesn't require a unit" advantage.

Makes me wonder, though, what could the Ideologies be this time around......& should Governments be changed accordingly? For instance, I'd see the 3 Ideologies as Liberalism, Socialism & Fascism. However, that might require changing the Fascist Government to a Dictatorship, & maybe adding something in place of the Communist Government type (something in between Democracy & Dictatorship.....any thoughts? Maybe call Oligarchy Classical Oligarchy, then move Oligarchy to the Industrial Era).

Idk why that would be necessary when you can just bind an ideology to a government.Cchoosing fascism gov would also be choosing the fascism ideology etc.

I see Ideology and Governments as being entirely separate entities though.

You see a liberal dictatorship? A fascist democracy?

It could happen. A Liberal Dictatorship would be one where you have freedom to do almost anything-except elect your government (the Starship Troopers government comes to mind there). A Fascist Democracy would allow you to elect your government, but your nation still follows Fascist ideals. Obviously, though, the game might offer better synergies for matching ideologies with governments.

It could be that as leader you choose your ideology and that influences which government you have. Putting specialists into a Theater square influences your government towards a democracy where as building a bunch of units guides you towards dictatorship.

Maybe some sort of game mechanic with ideologies and the agendas ?

after all they added a third agenda in GS and I never really saw the point of that. Does it effect the game in any way?
