Just wanted to post my thoughts. If this is a smaller DLC, similar to those initially released, I'd be quite satisfied. Obviously, full expansions are more exciting and refreshing, but also run the risk of over-complicating the Civ formula. There are still systems that I feel could use some adjustments and polish, namely the World Congress, but I feel these could be achieved in free updates alongside paid DLC. I'd happily welcome new Civs, leaders, wonders, scenarios, and resources, because although mods are available and abundant, few stand up to the quality of the real thing.
I thought that president who warred with Indeans was Andrew Johnson indeed? Was he trumply bad not to fit as American leader in a scenario? Don't think so.
I don't know much history of either of those Presidents, but I know Andrew Johnson is constantly ranked as one of the worst presidents in American history.
As for the Maya, they were still around when the Spanish arrived? The diseases the Spanish brought is what finally wiped them out, I think.
But the leaders don't have to be related. Plus I want Lady Six Sky.

Yeah I'd assume that the first portion of content is coming with the season ticket if that's what they are doing, give an incentive to buy.
If they are doing this approach, it likely means they are actually done with adding game mechanics and are just adding 'content' (i.e. civs, expansions, maps). We'll see what happens though.
I was remembering how we were jokingly speculating on content based off of Wikipedia (main page) content. After reading something about the Byzantines in today's Wikipedia main page, I can't help but wonder if they are coming soon. Of course the leader featured in today's on this day only ruled for a year and a half, she's not the more famous Theodora.
I could also see them adding another Native American civ, provided there are no controversies associated with it. Maybe something big like the Sioux.
To get around the need for mechanics from RnF and GS, perhaps a Season Ticket could be released at a discount if you already own one or both? Since GS includes the mechanics from RnF and is $10 more, I guess Firaxis considers the new mechanics worth something around there without the accompanying civs. Not sure how something like that would be distributed though.
It may not make business sense, but I personally hope that if we are indeed getting stand-alone DLC that the DLC will build off of Gathering Storm and require that expansion, so as to not be "dumbed down" to just base game mechanics.
Nonsense. The last Mayan city didn't fall until 1697. There are still many Maya descendants (most of mixed ancestry) practicing the language and traditions today.

I don't see that happening. I think your logic might be the wrong way around.
I think it more likely they would wave new Leaders / Civs at us and then say "GS is required to play this DLC. Good thing you can get GS at 25%-75% discount!" - Keeping new content at full price while convincing vanilla players to get on board with GS.
Which is why I insist they might need a big name like Lincoln. I assume (maybe incorrectly?) that their largest market is the US?

Edit: Our expressions will be priceless next week when they announce a new update with a "Storm the Keep" new multiplayer game mode where one player with a huge but decaying empire must defend against the incursions of three to four weaker Human Civs.
Lincoln has already been in several iterations. He's a popular choice, but a very safe choice. Still it's more likely we'll see him over Washington or Jefferson due to the slave issue and how their esteem has fallen in recent years. I actually think Franklin Roosevelt would be an interesting choice. He would be the first disabled leader in Civ (that I know of). He's a little controversial, and economic conservatives like me don't really feel his policies helped with the Great Depression, but overall his Presidency is viewed favorably.
As for market share, I'm sure U.S. is still the highest, but maybe not as much as back in Civ2 days. I think U.K. accounts for a lot these days.
Personally I'd like to see an alt leader for Egypt. Mainly because Egypt is usually my go-to Civ and I'd like a change of pace from Cleopatra I guess. I read a really fascinating book on Ancient Egypt recently (Toby Wilkinson's THE RISE AND FALL OF ANCIENT EGYPT) and with many of the pharaohs discussed in the book I kept thinking, "This person would be a perfect leader for CIV VI!"
Is there a possibility that that's it... and there will be nothing more? Or is it THAT certain that they'll surely release something? I'm not that up to date.
