Game of Thrones / ASOIAF Scenario for BTS

Anyway I've had an idea about the wall, but I'm not sure of how doable/good it is. I saw in The Road To War mod that the ligne maginot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maginot_Line for those interested) was represented by units with strong defense and no capacity to attack. Since the wall is not totally impassable (just very hard to climb, and almost impossible when units are on top of it), why not make it a unit that cannot move, that multiplies by ~10 the strength of the units on top of it when attacked, and that would have a certain strength when not defended. That way the night's watch would have to send patrols on the wall to defend it (the wall could have a big line of sight to see attackers coming from very far).
I'm not so happy with the mountain (impassable) way it is represented right now, so that might be a solution.

This is definitely a possibility, but I would like to have the wall as a terrain or an improvement as an undefended wall should not be able to defeat an army. Maybe i could base the wall on the fort improvment, but give it a better defense bonus and make the movement cost really high?

Also, by making the wall impassable except for a few key places (like castle black), combat is encouraged between the night's watch and the wildings. Besides, the only way that I have seen the wildings able to bypass the wall (so far, im about halfway through storm of swords right now) is by sailing around it past eastwatch or by taking the gorge pass around shadow tower, so getting over the wall should be near impossible without defeating the night's watch.

It's possible to give land units the submarine's ability to move through impassable terrain. I think it may also be possible to give land units the ship ability to carry land units. Combine these, and you have a "wall climber"--a wildling-only land unit that can climb over the wall and carry a single other unit with it.

That would be cool. I'll keep this in mind once im further along in the modding.

I just reposted the file and it is now available! No more waiting for admins! :D

I also edited Dorne's starting situation. When i first made the scenario, i had given each civ way too many units and I just realized that I had never fixed this problem in dorne. Now every civ should be well balanced (or at least more balanced). Each should start with around 2-3 knights, a handfull of swordsmen and axemen, a bunch of spearmen and longbowmen in a few of the major strongholds. Each civ has 1-2 great generals and some have special units.

Keep me posted on how it plays out so i can make any necessary adjustments.

Thanks!

I suppose it's not intentional for Stannis not to have machinery (I think it's the one, IIRC) on start while all the others do ?
The scenario is good now, except that without siege engines you can't take a city (only the Ironmen have enough troops to take a city or two from any civ).

Yea i noticed that too about dragonstone. Ill make the adjustment.

Also i thought about giving some siege weapons to people to start, but i just figured a player will build them when required. I kind of like it starting this way cause it makes civs fight pitched battles and pillage rather than just capturing cities straight away.

Yay, finally a ASoIaF mod:goodjob:

I feel like I should post this link to a wall terrain from a mod that was made by Big E but later broken by patches:(

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=193143

It's the last post.

Also, It was mentioned a page back that different civs should have abilities. Why not give leaders "personalities", that would have both positive and negative effects?

Example, Stannis: The Iron fist, all units start with combat III and -50% millitary production.

This would also allow troop numbers to be represented like the books (Stannis would start with a lot of troops but would have trouble replacing them)

Awesome! I will check this wall out. And as far as personalities go, I will see how this can be done. I'll keep everyone updated.

Some thoughts on the Iron Throne :
Would it be possible to change the mechanics of the apostolic palace (the Iron Throne) so that there are two steps at each elections :
Step 1, every player is asked whether it wants to claim the throne.
Step 2, every player votes for someone that has claimed the throne (the player controlling king's landing automatically claims it to avoid the situation where no one claims it). There is a possibility to abstain from voting. The groups formed by the voting (all the ones in favor of Renly, of Robb, of Joffrey or of Stannis at the beginning) are at war with the owner of King's Landing, and get a -2 relationship with the ones that did not vote like them (including the abstainers).

An other solution to represent the claim to the throne would be to make a special feature where each player can at any time claim the throne or renounce its claim, or back someone else's claim.

Awesome map, haven't tried lannisters out yet but going to. It'll be good once the mod is out, hopefully facts will only occur :P Seeing Lord Tully become peaceful with Tywin Lannister was slightly funny though

Amazing to see someone doing this! I've got a group of friends who're really eager to play the scenario but this mod sounds amazing! How close to completion are you?

Thanks for the amazing map!

Yea i've noticed that too. Whenever those two are both ai, they make peace after not too long. I might adjust their relations to fix this in the future.

Also @ BeastGlatisant: Its coming along slowly, but im working on it whenever i get a chance. Right now im working on the tech tree. Ive had some offers to help, so hopefully it will go a little faster once more people are involved.

Well, I will happily help if you need it. I'm pretty decent with XML, and can add civics, techs, civs and the like.
