GameNES: Insert Credit

We are thankful for the offer. However, we would prefer to develop for all three consoles to build our experience working with the different machines and to test the waters in all three markets.

Yet we would offer you an alternate deal.

We offer to develop a special version of Runabout Wolf that would be exclusive to the Light Complex. This version would have everything that the other console versions would have, but would also include exclusive extras (levels, characters, bonus features) not found on either of the other systems. We would ensure that the special version would be released at the same time or earlier than the regular versions.

In addition we off that you may option to have exclusivity of any upcoming game after Runabout Wolf. That deal would end when you choose to act on that option.

We would offer this deal to cost you $5000 initially, plus $2000 per turn. This would reduce to $1000 per turn after the special edition is released to maintain the option of exclusivity. The entire deal would end when you choose which upcoming game would be exclusive and we have reached a new financial arrangement on it.

I presumed that I would in a sense be making a 2nd game that was exclusive to that system. Would a special edition cost differently? There weren't specific rules for that which I could find. If so I'll change my offer.

We offer to develop a special version of Runabout Wolf that would be exclusive to the Light Complex [...] This would reduce to $1000 per turn after the special edition is released to maintain the option of exclusivity.

Very expensive indeed, for partial exclusive-ness.

I have been advised by my accountant that I should not make deals or offers without consulting her first ((I) design the games, (she) thinks about the money, were roughly her words). I apologize if my previous offer was a bit much. You are free to accept it if you feel, but in view of it we gladly offer that you propose your own financial offer on the above proposed deal.

That does indeed seem expensive for partial exclusiveness. Alas, I have discovered that our budget is not as loose as I had thought it would be. We propose this: Since none of us are capable of reaching an exclusivity deal at the moment, you will continue developing Runabout Wolf for all the consoles to get a feel for each one and then we will approach you with an offer for a later game.

Plot Synopsis:

In a world where the supernatural becomes natural, angels and demons enter into contracts with humans, giving them abilities beyond mortal ken in exchange for the human swearing to fight on behalf of their patron. To seal the contract, the celestial being writes their hidden name using their own blood somewhere upon the human. In this game, the hero is Gladius, who has entered into a contract with Suphret, the commander of a legion of angels. Lately, there has been an increase in the numbers of demonic contractors, and Gladius must join forces with other angelic contractors to discover the cause for the increase and put an end to it.

Basic Gameplay

Each character has unique “basic attacks” and “special attacks.” The special attacks are unlockable when a player’s “special attack meter” becomes full. The special attack meter is filled by damaging the enemy and is emptied by taking damage. Different special attacks can be used depending upon the plot progression. At the end of each level is beautifully rendered cut-scenes showing interaction between characters and explaining the plot. Each cut-scene will be different depending on the composition of your party.

Welcome. Which description do you want for the stats of the game?

After reviewing the one line description that most people use, this will be adequate:

"Gladius is a supernatural action game. Follow the hero, Gladius, and up to three other allies, as they take on the forces of darkness that have infested the city."

On the screen is a shot of the words “Celestial Games” surrounded by a night sky. The words fade, leaving only the stars behind. The camera then pans downward, revealing a city landscape, until it focuses on one building with a neon sign saying “Club Star.” The camera zooms in even further, focusing on the person at the head of a line that stretches back a good distance. You see the man pay the bouncer and enter the club, the camera following him above his shoulder. As the man enters, generic club music can be heard.

The man avoids the crowded dance floor and heads left, to the only slightly less crowded bar.

“What can I get ya?” A bartender, only slightly less stylish dressed than his clientele asks.

“One chocolate milk please.” The bartender only stares. “Let me guess, you don’t serve that here? Alright, make it a bottled water.”

The bartender reached under the counter, pulling out a bottle which he expertly flipped towards the man. Leaving a five dollar bill on the counter, customer turns away.

“A chocolate milk huh? Guess you’re still a boy at heart.”

The man turns and smiles as the camera reveals the source of the feminine voice. A black jacket covers not only her arms, but most of her upper body, leaving only the briefest of glimpses of the base of her throat. The intent of this, only serves to drive the eyes downward, an act which was rewarded by the sight of tanned legs which seemed to stretch on forever.

“I guess boys just want to have fun.” The man replies. Suddenly he looks embarrassed and laughs. “Sorry, I have no idea what that’s supposed to mean. I can tell the ‘impress beautiful woman with your wit’ strategy is going to fail me.”

The woman smiles “Its okay, you had me at the fun part.” She pulls the man to the dance floor and they start dancing as the scene fades to black.

As the scene fades in, you see the same man and woman. Here, the woman is dragging the man from the dance floor, towards the back of the club, past a couple of secluded booths, towards a single door. After entering, they both find themselves in a narrow hallway, with four doors on either side of the hallway. The man gives a quizzical look, prompting the woman to put her index finger towards her lips and motioned the man to put his ear to the closest door. As the camera zooms in, to the man’s face pressed up against the door, you can hear heavy panting punctuated by small moans. Backing away from the door, the man blushed, provoking a laugh from his companion. Despite his obvious embarrassment, however, he only too willingly followed her as she opened the furthest door on the left and entered it. As the door shut behind them, the woman’s body presses itself up against the man, entering into a long, passionate kiss.

After several moments, the man breaks the kiss, breathing deeply and placing both his hands on her face. Leaning in towards her he whispers in her ear,
“I have something to tell you.” The woman moans softly. One of the man’s hands left its position on the side of her face and beginning at the top of her nose, worked its way downward, the finger tracing a line down her face. As they reached her lips, the woman parted them slightly, drawing the finger into her mouth and gently sucking on it for a few seconds before releasing it. The man smiles as he next ran the finger across her cheek, this time moving horizontally, drawing an invisible cross across her face. As the finger left her face the man gets even closer. The camera zooms in, showing only his lips as they almost touch her ear. “Go to hell you ugly b****”

The camera suddenly zooms out, showing the man’s right hand tightening its grip on her head, locking it into place as a sword suddenly appeared in his left hand. With a swift movement, the sword embedded itself in her stomach. From her rosy lips blood seeped out, staining her chin with its life giving juice. As her body crumpled to the floor, the man turns, reaching for the door handle, only to be stopped by a distinctive click behind him.

“If you came to kill me, you’ll have to do better than that.” As soon as the first words were formed, the man had already had dropped, spinning around in a crouch. There the woman stood, a gun in her hand, the clothes around her midriff torn, revealing only smooth skin beneath. Before the man had finished his spin, multiple swords materialized around him, speeding towards her. At the impact of multiple flying swords hitting her, she flies backwards, becoming pinned against the wall. Still, the man does not stop, continuing to materialize sword after sword and sending them flying towards her struggling body. The camera zooms into her eyes as you see the reflection in them of the man rushing forward, one sword held in both hands as he swings it horizontally. The eyes rush off the screen, leaving the camera focused on the wall that had been behind the eyes, now covered in blood.

The camera switches over to the man, from the point of view of the woman’s body.
“Regeneration, nice power. But your mistake was bragging before shooting. Kill first, then talk all you want.” From his pocket the man pulls a cell phone. Opening it, he takes several pictures of something behind the camera. Then, he walks towards the camera, reaching down. The camera view changes, showing the man wiping away blood to reveal a green tattoo that appeared to be glowing in the dim light of the room. The tattoo ran down her arm, starting at the shoulder and ending just above the elbow, a swirling pattern of curves, lines, and dots that looked vaguely like Arabic, or perhaps Hebrew, though it was neither. The camera switches back to the man, showing him taking several pictures with his phone before he gets up, dialing a number.

“Gladius here. Success.” Hanging up the phone, he cautiously opens the door, looking both ways before exiting. Going the opposite direction from where he entered, he went out a door, revealing an ally. The man jumps, his leap taking him to the top of the next door building. As he walks along the roof of the building, the camera pans backwards, showing a large billboard on the roof. The billboard reads “Gladius” with a sword running horizontally across the bottom. The scene around this billboard fades, leaving only the “Gladius” logo which becomes the main logo for the “start” screen which fades in.
